"Dumb Red Army" - a clear embodiment of the spirit of the Red Army's Long March
In a flash, ten years have passed.
In the past ten years, what I miss most in my heart is an old leader of the army that I have never met - the mute Red Army!
More than 10 years ago, when I was still working in the army, I often heard the old leaders talk about one person - the mute Red Army. Although they only told sporadic stories about the mute Red Army, gradually the mute chiefs plumped up in my mind. Perhaps out of responsibility, I decided to write a long piece for the mute chief when I was younger. Although some people do not understand and think that the mute is just an inconspicuous and even marginal figure in the ranks of the Red Army, I do not think so. So, I resolutely went into the archives of the army and visited my old comrades-in-arms who had worked with the mute chief.
The dumb man was both an ordinary Red Army and a Red Army with a special identity. The reason why he is special is because he can't speak, and he can't hear others, and he is typically deaf and dumb. He is even illiterate, and he does not even know how to speak dumbly, so he can only express his thoughts and thoughts with simple gestures. In the cadre file, his name is mute, the date of birth is unknown, he was about 30 years old when he joined the army, his place of origin is only known to be in Sichuan, and the content of other projects is unknown, only the date of enlistment is clear: it was June 1935. The mute was the one who was mistaken for a spy by the Red Army in the vicinity of the Dadu River in Sichuan, and the Red Army soldiers mistakenly took him for a spy and was dramatically taken on the Long March road and embarked on the revolutionary road, and by chance he became a porter in the cooking squad of the Central Garrison Corps, the personal guard unit of the Party Central Committee and the Central Military Commission. This is where the red romance comes in.
Indeed, the dumb man is a man who is both full of legends and has a lot of "faults". But if you taste it carefully, on the surface, there are many small problems with the dumb chief, but these small problems vividly reflect the light of human nature. His legend is his absolute loyalty to the revolution, to the army, and to his comrades-in-arms, and to express it in a mute way, which can be said to be a clear embodiment of the spirit of the Red Army's Long March.
So, I wrote a long reportage "The Legend of the Dumb Red Army", which was published under the headline of "Chinese Writers". After the publication, the social response was extremely strong. In addition to the high attention of the media and society, there is also the memories of the old comrades-in-arms of the mute chief, many of his old comrades-in-arms called and wrote to me, expressing nostalgia, cordiality, and gratitude.
The most impressive is Mr. Xie Taiping. It was in the afternoon when I received a call from Mr. Xie, who said that he worked at the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and watched "The Legend of the Dumb Red Army", and he was very moved and very cordial. He also said that the administrator Xie in my article was his father, and he also dealt with mutes when he was a child. A few days later, Mr. Xie came to my office. We exchanged stories about the mute Red Army. Mr. Xie told me at the time that he knew a lot of stories about the mute Red Army, and he could tell them, supplement them, and publish a single book. I am very happy to hear what Mr. Xie said. I told him at the time that due to time constraints, my interview was not deep enough, and it was necessary to add it when I published it again. Later, because I returned to my hometown from the army to work, the matter was not completed. But in 2012, I saw from the media that a book written by Mr. Xie was called "A Dumb Soldier in the Ten Thousand Horse Army". I read the content carefully, and it was supplemented on the basis of my long reportage "The Legend of the Dumb Red Army".
What also touched me was the attention of TV people to the mute chief. After "The Legend of the Dumb Red Army" was launched in "Chinese Writer", several film and television companies approached me, some wanted to make TV series, some wanted to make movies, but later due to various reasons, they didn't make it. At that time, I thought that the Red Army, which clearly embodied the spirit of the Red Army's Long March, like the mute chief, would definitely be able to launch a film and television drama on the occasion of commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Red Army's Long March. In the past few years, relevant film and television companies in Hunan have also talked to me, and they also plan to launch them on the occasion of the 80th anniversary. I regret that due to some reasons of the film and television company, as well as my long-form work to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Red Army's Long March, "Ma Mulberry Trees Build a Lampstand - The Legend of the Red Army in Northwest Hunan Province", the creation of the script was delayed. But we did not give up, because the spirit of the Long March will never go out of style, and the vivid image of the mute will always live in the barracks. I think that perhaps on the 82nd or 85th anniversary of the victory of the Red Army's Long March, the vivid image of the mute Red Army will always be made into a TV series and put on the screen! Because the "dumb chief" belongs to the Red Army and belongs to the memory of that era! It also belongs to the unique memory of our era!
