Chapter 127: The assistant memorizes the information
"I want to go to Burning Man, there's a lot of fun stuff out there. ”
David was a little confused, what Burning Man was, he really didn't know, but seeing the little assistant very excited, it should be a very interesting festival.
Seeing David's confused look, the assistant began to patiently explain the information of Burning Man to David.
The BurningMan Festival began in 1986 with the basic principles of community, inclusion, creativity, fashion and anti-consumerism. Burning Man is an iconoclastic carnival launched by an American organization called "BlackRockCity, LLC".
Burning Man is an eight-day festival held annually from the end of August to the beginning of September in the Black Rock Desert in Nevada, USA. The first Monday in September is Labor Day in the United States and the beginning of Burning Man.
At this time of year, people from all over the world flock here, and all the participants are called Burner. The only thing sold in the desert is ice and coffee, but there is no commercial activity, and all household items must be brought by yourself. The "Burners" celebrate the festival by dressing up in fancy clothes or even being completely naked, and they gather around to watch a wooden statue of a man more than 10 meters tall burn.
On August 28, 2016, the "Burning Man Festival" kicked off. Thousands of revelers rushed to the desert of Nevada, USA, for 8 days of artistic creation and alternative living
The location is the Black Rock Desert in Nevada, USA
One of the main theories about the origin of the "Burning Man" is that in 1986, Larry Harvey, Jenary Jims, and some friends burned a wooden man of about 2.7 meters and a wooden puppy on Baker Beach in San Francisco.
Another originating theory is that "Burning Man" originated from a broken relationship. A divorced couple, the husband built a man out of wood to bury his lost relationship, and then burned her on the beach in San Francisco. LATER, HE WAS DRIVEN AWAY BY THE POLICE, SO HE FOUND A DRY LAKE BED IN THE BLACK ROCK DESERT OF NEVADA AS A BASE FOR BURNING PEOPLE, AND THIS IS WHERE THE BURNING MAN FESTIVAL BEGAN.
It was later launched by an organization called "BlackRockCity, LLC" for eight days. The time is generally from the end of August to the beginning of September.
The climax of the "Burning Man" festival is when people form a large circle in the open field, and a 12-meter-high wooden statue of a man is burned in the middle of the circle, which is where the name "Burning Man" comes from. The huge flames and the "burning man" who eventually fell to the ground often made onlookers cheer.
Burning Man In 1990, Kevin Evin and John Lew planned a stand-alone event in the Black Rock Desert, 110 miles from Reno, which Evan envisioned as a temporary Dadaist autonomous region where sculptures could be burned and situational art performed. In addition, Lu was invited to participate in the organization work, Lu has rich experience in organizing, and publicized that this event will be held in the "4th Travel Belt" in the Black Rock Desert, and the San Francisco police obstructed and stopped the activities of the wood-burning people on the shores of Baker Lake in San Francisco. Harvey's roommate of many years, Dan, brings the wooden man to the "4th travel belt" in time.
Michael Meek, another active organizer, realized that people who were not familiar with the natural environment of the Black Rock Desert needed someone with the knowledge to help them not get lost or die of thirst. Thus was founded the "Blackstone Wanderers" organization. In this way, the seeds of Blackstone City germinated, and the organization of Ru and Mick, Aven's creativity, and Harvey and Jims's symbolic wooden figures all worked together to create Blackstone City and Burning Man.
In the first few years, the community grew rapidly by word of mouth. All the participants wanted to experience how to survive in the barren desert, where the performers and artists were not paid, there was no deliberate schedule, and there was no distinction between art and living space. In 1993, the organizers of this event also participated in another festival with the theme of building art, "DesertSiteworks", and the two events borrowed from each other, and in 1996 they merged and officially named "Burning Man"
1997 was a pivotal year for Burning Man. By 1998, which had attracted 8,000 people and turned the festival into a "walking/biking/art bike" only, the organizers decided to move the event to a relatively private, enclosed location, where Feilai Farm, near the small dry lake bed of Hualapai in the eastern Blackstone Desert, was selected and granted a long-term license. In order to meet the new requirements and strengthen management, the organizers established Blackstone City Co., Ltd., and at the same time created the Department of Public Affairs to arrange the network "city" layout.
The Burning Man: At festivals, people express themselves in a variety of radical and crazy art, music, and even carnal forms.
Express yourself through clothing: Participants described Burning Man as a group behavioral experiment and a radical form of self-expression.
The Burning Bride: Alberto and Vera's wedding was chosen to take place on this year's Burning Man Festival.
Fish need a bicycle too: San Francisco sculptor Marshall rides his "masterpiece" around the festival.
Spreading anger on trucks: Some of the art installations at Burning Man are indeed rare in the world.
Feel the melancholy blue: Not everyone likes to stay away from crowds, but they like to go to crowded places.
The site of Burning Man is not a place of beautiful mountains and rivers, but a place where no grass grows, the Black Rock Desert, where there is a high temperature of 107 degrees Fahrenheit (about 41.6 degrees Celsius) and the unpredictable weather.
With almost no external supplies, wanting to live here for 8 days is definitely a test of physical fitness and intelligence. Burning large wooden dollsIn Black Rock Castle, people can bring in whatever they want to create a habitat, make sculptures, exhibit art, and more. Friends from all over the world showed off their wits and creativity, so don't be surprised to see an eggshell tent, a house made of light, or a shark's fin-shaped car.
People can also make a big fuss about themselves, and strange costumes and eccentric behaviors are all acceptable here. Therefore, some people see it as a large gathering of performance, sculpture, and architectural art. On Burning Man, people are completely away from the world they lived in, looking for an 8-day Eden of their own.
No one asks about the past, no one bothers with the future, and people can completely unleash themselves here and realize their dreams in their daily lives. For example, send a letter to heaven, tell the heart, and burn it.
The night is the golden time of "Burning Man". At the heart of Black Rock City, there are some big parties and revelries to get people excited.
