Where is the sea pearl stone?
Haizhu Stone was originally a giant reef of the Pearl River channel, more than 100 meters long and more than 50 meters wide. Haizhu stone is more than four meters above the river surface, and the surrounding area is more than 1,300 square meters. Because there is Haizhu Stone, the island is named Haizhu Island. The island builds the Haizhu Temple, that is, the Cidu Temple, the scale is very large, the temple is in the water, the wall is like a city, all around, five feet away from the water, there is a hole, set up a cannon to prevent the sea robbers. Since ancient times, it is not only a bazaar of the sea crossing, but also a tourist attraction, the Song Dynasty called "Pearl River Autumn Moon", the Ming Dynasty called "Zhuhai Qinglan", the Qing Dynasty called "Haizhu Night Moon".
Haizhu Island is on the north bank of the Pearl River in Yuexiu District, Guangzhou City. In 1931 (the 20th year of the Republic of China), Guangzhou built a new embankment (now No. 143 Yanjiang West Road), Haizhu Island was included in the landfill range, and the exposed rocks were blown away, Haizhu Island was filled into flat land and connected with the north shore, and roads were built on it, and Haizhu Island was buried underground and connected with the urban area.
Haizhu Island used to be known as Xindi Road, which is now Xindi One Heng Road and Two Heng Road. In the early 90s, Oi Kwan Hui Jing Wan was built, with 49 floors above ground and 4 floors underground. "Foot pressure millennium sea pearl stone" has become a loud slogan for this real estate. The east-west direction of this real estate is Xindi 1 Heng Street and Xindi 2 Heng Street. However, "Haizhu Stone" and Haizhu Park "are long gone, and instead of her, there is a towering luxury residence "Huijing Bay" with an average price of 70,000 yuan per square meter.
In January 2000, the Guangzhou Municipal Government carried out the construction of the Haoyong sewage project near the junction of Yanjiang West Road and Xindi Yiheng Road, and accidentally discovered Haizhu Stone, which had been buried underground for nearly 70 years. According to ancient records, Haizhu stone is more than 100 meters long and more than 50 meters wide. The sea pearl stone that appeared in an instant, the length and width of the ground part are only a few meters, and it is just the tip of the iceberg of the giant reef. It is impossible to excavate all of it when it is found that the sea pearl stone, and the walls are built with bricks on all sides, and the viewing pit is built, and the glass windows are covered for people to see.
Yuan Qiuhua went downstairs, an off-road jeep approached, the passenger door was pushed open, the driver didn't say, she didn't ask, bent down and sat down. The driver first sent her to see the Haizhu Stone, and then sent her to Hualin Temple. Along the way, there was no communication, they all knew that a battle had begun, raised soldiers for a thousand days, used soldiers for a while, every participant was a chess piece, must obey orders and keep secrets, division of labor and cooperation, each performing its own duties, not inquiring about each other, and not recognizing each other.
Where is the origin of Zen Buddhism in China?
In the West Lai Temple, that is, the Hualin Zen Temple.
On the north side of Xiajiu Road, Liwan District, Guangzhou City, a stone tablet is erected at the entrance of the street, and the stele is engraved with the words "Xilai Ancient Bank". In the seventh year of Emperor Wu of Liang in the Southern Dynasty (526 years), the Indian monk Bodhidharma crossed the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean, and after three cold and summer treks, came to Guangzhou, landed at the embroidery wharf (near Xiajiu Road today), and built Xilai Nunnery here to preach. Bodhidharma is the third son of Tianzhuxiang to the king, Bodhidharma in the Xilai Nunnery to promote Buddhist scriptures, founded Chinese Buddhism Zen Buddhism, and was later respected as the ancestor of the Southern Sect of Chinese Buddhism, called "Bodhidharma Patriarch". Hualin Temple is therefore recognized as the first ancestral court of Zen Buddhism.
People revered him as a high monk from the Western Buddhist country, and called the place where he first landed "the first place of the West". Located in Xiguan, Guangzhou, also known as the embroidery workshop, the first place of the West is a place where merchants engaged in overseas trade live. In the twelfth year of Shunzhi in the Qing Dynasty (1655), the abbot of Xilai Nunnery, Zongfu Zen Master, raised funds to expand, added a Zen room, a monk's room, and a Daxiong Treasure Hall, and opened up a courtyard, planted trees extensively, introduced flowing water, and created a fresher, elegant, quiet Buddhist jungle of considerable scale, with an area of 30,000 square meters, and renamed Xilai Nunnery as Hualin Temple, becoming a famous temple in Guangdong.
From the end of the Qing Dynasty to before the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the beginning of the West was quite prosperous, many shops operated and sold a variety of folk handicrafts, into a market, very distinctive, such as the sour branches of the West to the North, the Gu embroidery of Xinzheng Street, the stone tools, and the bone products in Jixingli. Jade, in particular, is even more famous, and many families have passed it down from generation to generation and have exquisite craftsmanship. In the early years of the Republic of China, famous jade shops included Sheng Changhe, Bao Jisheng and so on. Li Shengze, a native of Yunnan Province and the "King of Jade", ran a gemstone business here, he bought jade mountains in Yunnan Province, mined them and shipped them to Shanghai and Guangzhou, and processed the high-quality jade into bracelets, rings, ear buckles, etc., which became the favorite items of high-ranking officials and wealthy merchants.
After 1986, the traditional craft characteristics were gradually restored in the early places of the west, and Jade Street and Suanzhi Street appeared. At present, there are about 200 jade shops and more than 10 sour branch shops, most of which are individual and private. It attracts many customers and tourists, and some sour branch shops are even frequented by envoys to China. After the Upper and Lower 9th Roads and the 10th Fu were turned into commercial pedestrian streets, it became even more prosperous and lively.
Hualin Temple is located in the downtown area, the place here is very small, the area is not large, the entrance door is smaller, the square inch is covered by the surrounding jade streets and alleys, and the clean place is hidden in the busy and noisy jade street. It's really a stone's throw away, the bustling city and the quiet jungle are just a step away.
The streets are still thriving, the news is blocked, and there is no panic on people's faces.
The temple sits in the west and faces east, and two stone lions and two stone drums are placed on both sides of the mountain gate. The stone forehead of the mountain gate is engraved with the four words "Hualin Zen Temple", and the stone pillars on both sides are engraved with a couplet: 100,000 Buddhas in the Huayan world view, and 500 hidden in the forest and vulture mountain should be true.
Entering the mountain gate, there are star rock towers at both ends, and a row of bungalows on the south side, and there is a merit hall in it.
Yuan Qiuhua entered the temple gate and saw a Maitreya Buddha with a smile and a big belly waiting for him. Behind the Buddha, there is the temple protector general General Wei Dao. At the north end of the hall are enshrined three great Buddhas: Shakyamuni Buddha in the center, Zishi Buddha on the left, and Amitabha Buddha on the right. Wizards, in the final analysis, are also Confucian, Buddha, Taoist, and people who practice both the three schools, enter the temple to worship the Buddha, enter the Taoist temple to worship Tianzun, and enter the temple to worship Confucius and Mencius. Yuan Qiuhua still had to bow to the three gods and Buddhas. She burned incense respectfully, bowed, kowtowed, and stepped back. The western wall of the hall is dedicated to the full-body Jizo king. The east wall of the hall is dedicated to a wooden statue of the thousand-armed and thousand-eyed Kannon, opposite the Jizo King.
The deacon clasped his palms in return: Amitabha, my Buddha is merciful, good and good! The donor is willing to worship, the incense money is watched, don't spend too much, just point to the heart!
The first thing Buddhists say when they meet is "Amitabha", which is the most beautiful language in Buddhism, which means immeasurable longevity. Light represents wisdom, longevity represents good fortune, meet each other and say "Amitabha", is to wish you a long life, wisdom and good fortune meaning.
The environment is created by the heart, the phase is born from the heart, and the life is operated by the operation, life is a practice, life is practice, and practice is life. Yuan Qiuhua received traditional cultural education since childhood, as well as converted to Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism. The Analects tells us what we should do when we come into this world. The Tao Te Ching tells us what not to do when we come into this world. "The Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon" tells us how to survive in this world.
She has developed the habit of chanting sutras and meditating for at least 45 minutes a day, participating in meditation and enlightenment, the edification of Buddhism, altruistic compassion, the consciousness of pure cultivation, and the freedom to let go. On the first day of the new month and the fifteenth day of each month, I go to the monastery to eat fasting and take precepts, except for chanting sutras and meditating, I don't do anything, I don't even have a phone with me, as long as I don't think about anything, I don't have any distractions, and I can do it for three days without talking. Life is like a dream, everything is empty, the so-called demand is suffering, and no desire is rigid.
The Zen lineage is based on Bodhidharma as the first ancestor. The second ancestor of Zen Buddhism, the third ancestor of Zen Buddhism, the fourth ancestor of Zen Buddhism, the fifth ancestor Hongren, and the six Hui Neng of Zen Buddhism, "Zen" is the transliteration abbreviation of the Sanskrit word "Zen", which is translated as a practice method, and Zen Buddhism summarizes the practice of Buddhism with "Zen". Sanskrit "Zen" should be "Zen", Zen, quiet, that, breath, that is, one breath and one breath. Xuanzang translates "Zen" as meditation and income. Ana, breathing, inhaling, inhaling with the nose, prana, exhaling, exhaling with the mouth, the practice is practicing qi and refining the breath. Zen Buddhism's pursuit of truth and empirical evidence, inner cultivation, clear mind, and unswerving determination are the same as science and technology. Zen contains mysteries, believing in wisdom rather than God.
"Book of Changes", "Classic of Mountains and Seas", "Golden Seal and Jade Letter", Book of Heaven, say no word, but there is a diagram, it is the heart, say that there are words, but only a piece of words, it is a song. The so-called "if you can't dictate it by the Master himself, it will be in vain if you are wise." In the same vein of wizards, it is not the talent of the individual, but the inheritance of the masters, and the inheritance is the foundation of the wizard. Without the inheritance of famous masters, even if you are talented, many secret techniques, feng shui songs, Zen Buddhism, and Mahayana Zen methods, you have never even heard of them, how can you learn them?
"Amitayus Sutra", "Nirvana Sutra", "Huayan Sutra" are basic courses. Amitabha Buddha, also known as the "Western Buddha", "A" translated as "nothing", "Mida" translated as "quantity", "Buddha" translated as "enlightenment", Amitabha Buddha is the meaning of immeasurable consciousness, omniscient, omniscient. The word "A" is the Buddha of the Ten Directions, the word "Mi" is all the Bodhisattvas, and the word "Tuo" is the Eighty Thousand Holy Religions. Nan Mu Amitabha, "Nan Mu (mo)" is a Sanskrit transliteration, indicating respect for Amitabha, prostration, refuge, and return. Only by enduring loneliness, withstanding boredom, and concentrating on study can we achieve something and become a generation of grandmasters. Just as "knowing", only after a few cold and summer dormant in the depths of the underground can one day break through the ground and become a blockbuster.
The Prajna Heart Sutra, the Yuanjue Sutra, and the Twenty-Four Chapters Sutra are the introductions. Jingyun: Those who have my love also love Nirvana. I love the root, for Nirvana. Those who hate me also hate life and death. I don't know who I love, I really live and die. Don't hate life and death, your name will not be liberated. "I love", in fact, is self-grasping, self-seeking, that is, selfishness, the heavier and more selfish I am obsessed, the more greedy I become. "Nirvana", that is, silence, the emptiness of life and death. Only by seeing through the self, as well as the cycle of life and death, the illusory emptiness, and letting go of all obsessions and delusions, can we achieve liberation. For example, even if two people have love in their hearts, they can't be together because of each other's position, and they can't do anything about crying loudly, they both take each other's good as the starting point, but in fact, they stab each other in the heart, "Give me a cup of love water, and you won't shed tears for the rest of your life"! The two of them have experienced so much, how can this relationship be easily abandoned? The two pretended not to love, but in their hearts they were reluctant to let go of the pain, and Taishan couldn't suppress the pain, the pain made the nerves twitch, and the muscles of the whole body couldn't help but tremble. The more sincere you give, the more unwilling you are, the more resolute you are, and you will do unexpected things. This has little to do with the other party, it is an obsession of "not letting go", in fact, it is not real love, it is just a paranoid consciousness, because once you figure it out and are willing, that love is gone. But there is a saying that I have to say that only after the breakup can we slowly learn to cherish, which is a growth process that must be experienced.
The Buddha said that all sentient beings come from no beginning, and that there is a self out of delusion, and that there is self-love that comes with me, and that self-love is selfish possession. Liberation and reincarnation, between the Fa-rectification and the evil Fa, are only a millimeter, and it can be described as "a difference of a millimeter, a thousand miles of loss." Scholars must not be careless! "Pure cultivation" and "tranquility" are a state of mind, and "silence" and "freedom" are a state of life. Meditation focuses on cultivating the mind and mind, not on external forms. All hearts have Buddha fate, don't deliberately seek, the bottom of your heart is selfless, and those who don't fight are relaxed. Silence is a kind of contemplation, a kind of serenity, a kind of purity, and a kind of tranquility. Busyness should be the state of life, should not become the state of the soul, in the busyness of work, should experience the special and beautiful of freedom and freedom.
Next to the Hall of Merit is the Hall of the First Patriarch Dharma. Dharma Hall sits in the north and faces south, and there is a pair of woodcut couplets on the stone pillar in front of the hall that reads: The Eastern Zen Buddhism spreads the wonderful law, and the Western Regions Baodian opens the Hualin. Praise the deeds of the first ancestor Bodhidharma who came to China from the West to spread religion and culture. On the white stone base in the middle of the north wall of the hall, there is a statue of Bodhidharma wearing a robe, sitting on the left leg, and bending the right foot, like an Indian monk. On the east and west walls of the hall, there are two carved paintings, the content is to narrate the legendary story of Bodhidharma's eastward crossing to China, such as "facing the wall for nine years", "crossing the river with a reed", "only walking in the old west" and so on.
There is a big incense tripod on the main hall square, and the incense is prosperous.
Buddhism believes that bodhisattvas practice Mahayana, and arhats practice Hinayana practices. At the level of monasticism, the highest position is the Buddha, followed by the Bodhisattva, and then the Arhat. When people enter the monastery, they first worship the Buddha, then the Bodhisattva, and then the Arhat. Believers from all over the world can permanently worship Buddha statues in the Buddha hall in the name of individuals or the whole family, and permanently worship the public. Devotees can also make offerings to other Buddhas according to their own requirements. In addition, believers can also ask a consecrated jade goddess of mercy to go home and worship in the Buddha hall (after three months of worship in the Buddha hall, please go home).
The layout of Hualin Temple is different from that of ordinary temples, there is no Daxiong Treasure Hall, and the Five Hundred Arhat Hall becomes the main hall. Before the completion of the Dharma Hall in 1997, it was the only hall in the temple. The Luohan Hall was created under the auspices of the temple elder Gion in the last years of Daoguang. He went to Zhejiang Jingci Temple to depict five hundred Arhat statues, brought them back and carved them according to the statues, and enshrined them in the Tianzi Temple. According to the relevant historical records, the five hundred Arhat Hall in the early years of the Republic of China, the scale is very grand and majestic: the hall is in the shape of a field, the left and right sides of the gate are separated up to the King Kong of Zhangyu, enter directly from the door, the shrine in the north is dedicated to the Three Treasure Buddhas, there are patios on both sides of the center, the cloister is dedicated to the five hundred Arhat gods, the Arhat statues are like life-size, the expressions of joy, anger and sorrow and posture are different, one of them is the prototype statue of Marco Polo, the Italian navigator who came to China in the Yuan Dynasty. In the center of the hall is a bronze Ashoka pagoda that is 4 meters high and weighs 1 ton. Save a life, win to build a seven-level floating slaughter, floating slaughter, that is, floating map, is the meaning of "tower", temples have towers, seven levels, that is, seven floors.
The hall gate of the five hundred Arhat Hall is to the south, and the Buddha statue of Sanbao from the temple gate to the north end is the central axis of the north and south. On the east and west sides are cloisters, where five hundred arhats are enshrined on pedestals more than 1 meter high.
Walking into the Five Hundred Arhat Hall, I saw that there was a high eaves on both sides of the hall door, holding a vajra pestle, and a mighty face Vajra Litu guarding the mountain gate. Above the door of the palace, the stone forehead of "Five Hundred Arhat Hall" is hung high. The stone pillars on both sides are engraved with a couplet: Prove that bodhicitta is now the truth, and Deng happily contemplates freely.
The same is a Buddhist Zen temple, Hualin Temple and Guiyuan Temple, the overall layout of the building is different, and the plane layout of Guiyuan Temple is in the shape of a robe. The Luohan Hall of Guiyuan Temple is laid out in the shape of "Tian", which is both ingenious and reasonable. The four mouths of the word "Tian" are four small patios, and the Arhats are arranged around the cloister of the word "Tian", and although there are 500 statues of Venerable Venerables placed in the hall, there is no sense of crowding. Four small patios provide good ventilation and lighting conditions for the large and deep temple.
Walking into the Luohan Hall, everyone is infected by their vivid images. I saw some sitting cross-legged, some lying on the stone looking at the sky, some studying Buddhist scriptures, and some driving away evil spirits. In terms of expression, some are brave, some are gentle, some are innocent and honest, and some have experienced vicissitudes, all of them are subtle and vivid. "Counting Arhats" is an interesting story for people to visit the Arhat Hall. It is said that men on the left and women on the right, starting from an Arhat, counting down in order, counting Arhats according to their age, counting how old they are, and the identity, expression and action of the last Arhat, the four verses on the frieze, can show the fate of the number, from which to taste and think, to see if you can understand some philosophy of life.
