Chapter Twenty-Three: Accidents in the Dining Room
"Bang-" A muffled sound suddenly tore through the quiet atmosphere of the restaurant.
Eric and Chiko followed the prestige and saw a man in his early 30s not far away, lying on the ground and convulsing in pain. The man grabbed his throat with his left hand and grabbed it out of thin air with his right hand. The lady sitting across from him turned pale with fright, staggered to her feet and threw herself at the man. But accidentally, the slender high heels fell to the left, and her body was like a slender baseball bat, knocking over the entire table.
The surrounding diners gathered around, and the waiter crouched to the side and shouted helplessly, "Who's the doctorβwho's the doctor." Before Chiko could react, Eric had already rushed over.
"Eric!" Chiko stomped her right foot in annoyance, and reluctantly followed.
Eric crouched down and probed the tip of the man's nose with his index finger. The woman who tripped over asked with a frightened face, "How is it, how is he!"
"He's dead. Eric stood up and shook his head. Hearing Eric's sentence, the woman sat down on the ground at once, tears popping up from her eyes like pearls with broken threads.
Eric watched the man's death carefully. Judging from the man's dress, he was wearing a blue plaid casual shirt, a pair of black slacks, and a pair of dark brown leather shoes, it can be seen that although this man does not look like a rich and famous family, he is clean and elegant, especially the buttons of the shirt, even in this casual occasion, his top buttons are tightly buttoned.
"What's his name. It's you. Eric rolled the man's left eyelid.
"Bohn, my husband. The woman choked up and replied, "I am his wife, Britney." β
"He, how, how did he die?" Britney tearfully asked Eric for an answer.
"Your husband, Mr. Born, died of poisoning. Eric tore a napkin from the dining table and placed it on his right hand, using it to pry open the deceased's mouth.
"Poisoned? But when we first left the house, he was fine. Brienne denied in disbelief.
"Benzene exerts its medicinal properties faster than strong sleeping pills. It should be poison in this restaurant. Eric set his eyes on the deceased's table, which had been knocked over.
The onlookers all showed frightened expressions, and the original whispers mixed with panic gradually became noisy. At this time, the manager of the restaurant stood up and retorted dissatisfiedly: "Sir, your words will have a very bad impact on our restaurant. β
"I only said that the deceased was poisoned by benzide, not that there was a problem with your meal. Eric didn't even lift his eyelids, and continued to pay attention to the corpse in front of him.
"But what you say and how you behave have has caused panic. Apparently, the restaurant manager was outraged by Eric's indifference, "Also, I hope you can understand that since this is a homicide, it should be handled by the police, and all conclusions should also be given by the police, and not here, as you did, to destroy the scene." β
Eric stood up, glanced contemptuously at the menacing restaurant manager in front of him, and shot back: "As a restaurant manager, when something like this happens, you should first think about how to appease the beloved Miss Brienne who just died, instead of rushing to leave the blame." β
"You!" the restaurant manager blushed with anger, but when she saw Britney, who had just died of her husband, she cried more and more sadly, and she couldn't bear the anger in her stomach.
"That's enough!" Chiko reprimanded him as he pulled Elikra to his side and suppressed his voice, "You've crossed the line, put away your unstoppable appearance, and don't forget, it's not Solomon here, and there's no Inspector Robert." β
"But I have Officer Charlie. Eric suddenly smiled wickedly, showing a look of confidence.
Sure enough, there was a commotion behind the crowd of onlookers, and a stern reprimand became clearer and clearer: "Damn, this is the scene of the murder, not the stage theater, and all the idlers and others will get out of here!"
After a while, a tall man with a bear's back and a National Police uniform rudely pushed through the crowd, walked up to Eric, and looked the two men up and down.
"You're sabotaging the scene, I should arrest you and lock you up for a month or two. β
"Don't be so ruthless, Charlie. Eric stood on tiptoe and patted the tall man on the shoulder.
Charlie suddenly showed a hideous smile, hugged Eric, patted him on the back, and said in a rough voice: "Eric, you bastard detective, I still hate you so much when I see you." β
"Isn't that my best sign? Eric was slapped in pain in the back and struggled to push Charlie away.
Chiko looked at the greetings of the two in disbelief, judging by the police street on Charlie's chest, he should be the sheriff of Lenkenshire, similar to Robert in the Solomon area. Could it be that Eric, the rogue detective, knows sheriffs all over the world?
"Mr. Officer, I'm sorry, this ......" The restaurant manager saw the intimate relationship between Eric and Charlie, and his attitude suddenly eased a lot.
"I know what to do. Charlie glanced at the dead lying on the ground and Ms. Brienne who was helped up to sit aside, "Tell me what was going on." β
The restaurant manager grabbed a silent waiter and rebuked him in a commanding tone: "Walter, repeat the situation to Officer Charlie one by one." β
"I, I, I don't know. The waiter, named Walter, apparently hadn't come to his senses yet, "I just poured him, Mr. Bourne, a glass of red wine, and he, and he fell to the ground." β
"How many glasses of red wine?" Qian Zike looked at the ground where the deceased was seated, and there was indeed a broken cup, and there was still a tablespoon of red wine left in the cup.
"May I ask this lady......" Chiko's actions caught Charlie's attention, and just now he noticed that this beautiful woman seemed to be in an unusual relationship with Eric.
"This should be the first glass of red wine. Eric glanced at the remaining amount of the bottle, and saw Charlie looking at Chiko with a puzzled expression, so he casually threw out, "This is Lady Chiko, my assistant." β
"Oh-" Charlie glanced meaningfully at Chiko. This inexplicable gaze makes Chiko feel as if she has an indescribable relationship with Eric.
"Ahem. Eric coughed lightly, interrupting Charlie's thoughts, "I don't think it's in the wine." β
"Benzene?" Hearing this highly toxic chemical, Charlie immediately came back to his senses, "This is contraband, not accessible to everyone." β
"But if it's the two of them, there's no problem. Eric gestured to Ms. Britney, who was sobbing.
