Chapter Ninety-Seven: Impossible Preparation
Blizzard Bar, the scene of the first crime of forgery, the forged murder room. Eric paced back and forth at the scene of the murder on the second floor of the bar, but remained silent, not saying a word.
"I said Curly-haired detective, you've been walking back and forth for more than half an hour, have you found anything. Bailey grumbled.
"It has to be said, though, that the killer seems to be very fond of ice. He used ice to fake the scene of the crime, and he used ice to create the illusion of murder in a closed room. And his personality is really cold enough, a family of three, and there is not a single living mouth. Caitlin frowned.
"You say, how can that guy calculate so accurately how long it takes for the water to freeze, for the time it melts, for you to see the frozen water, or for the ice to melt. Is there really such a murderer?" Bailey's mouth muttered over and over again, ice and water.
At that moment, something vaguely occurred in Eric's mind, but the thought flashed through him, and he didn't even catch the tail of the shadow.
"Ahh He tightened his coat and began to complain in pieces, "Damn, it's too cold without heating and a fire." With that, Bailey turned on the radiator by the wall.
"You're ruining the scene. Caitlin reminded.
"Anyway, this scene is fake, what does it matter. Bailey crouched down beside the radiator indifferently, "Maybe even the dead will be faked by then, and that will be amazing." โ
"Are dead people fake?" Eric frowned. At this time, the flash of thought just now flashed through his mind again, and in a blur, Eric seemed to see a few black words in itโgene, map, and Cher.
"Hey, Curly-Haired Detective, you're not going to take this seriously, are you. Bailey saw Eric's frowning appearance and sneered, "If the three members of Thomas's family are not real people, then we are really blind." โ
"Can you please be quiet. Caitlin gave Bailey a murderous look, and Bailey, knowing the woman's skills, closed his mouth in amusement.
"DNA," Eric said unconsciously.
"What DNA? What does it have to do with DNA?" Erik startled Bailey by his sudden opening.
"Catelyn, remember what we met in the snow?" Eric ignored Bailey, instead staring straight into Catelyn's eyes.
"You meanโ" Catelyn paused for a second before she understood what Eric meant. If Cher can be exactly like Miffy's child, is there a "replica" of the Thomas family?
"The simplest murder is the one that is fully prepared. Eric's eyes twinkled with excitement.
"Completely ready, what do you mean?" Bailey became, bewildering as he listened, and even Caitlyn didn't understand it for a moment.
"It's murder where even the body is ready. Eric gestured with a wave of his hands.
"Are you kidding?" asked Bailey, glaring, "how do you prepare this thing for corpses, does the murderer have to find and kill three people who are exactly the same as Thomas?" do you think it's possible?"
Eric and Caitlyn looked at each other, which might seem like a fantasy in ordinary thinking, but as the three of them had experienced firsthand, it wasn't impossible.
"Also, I still don't understand what that scream was all about. Didn't you say you heard Daisy screaming? There's no way the murderer is ready to even scream. Bailey asked with a smirk.
"Looks like your brain has a moment of inspiration too. Caitlyn laughed.
"At least not so stupid that it can't be helped. Eric pouted and laughed.
"Don't forget, I'm a police officer, and my family is born with the talent of a police officer in their blood. Bailey heard the ridicule of the two and had to move out of his glorious family background.
"See that tape recorder?" asked Eric.
"What's wrong. Is there a problem?" Bailey crouched over the radiator to the small tape recorder on the bedside table.
Eric walked over to the bedside table and pressed the back button of the tape recorder, then the play button. At this moment, a terrible cry immediately sounded in the room, and Bailey fell to the floor in fright.
"But how does this work?" asked Caitlin, "and this old-fashioned tape recorder isn't like the MP4 and some software applications we use that can't play and stop at a time. โ
"It's actually quite simple. Eric pulled out the tape from the tape recorder and pulled out the tape. Caitlin saw that a large part of the tape was an invalid area that was entirely white, and she immediately understood why.
"Does this tape seem special?" Bailey also saw the oddity of the tape.
"The front of this tape is full of white void areas, and only the last section is brown void areas. As long as the murderer calculates the time when the ice of the three corpses melts in advance, and then adjusts the tape to the corresponding time node of the white void zone. When he leaves, press the play button, and the rotating head in the tape recorder first reads the white void zone, so it won't make any sound, but when we hear the scream, the brown zone has finished playing, and the play button pops up automatically. This, combined with the lag in the process of corruption caused by the freezing of the corpses, is enough to make us mistakenly believe that this is a completely enclosed first crime scene. Eric explained.
"But it doesn't make sense. Bailey asked, "The voice in the tape is indeed Daisy's scream, I grew up watching her, and this voice can't be wrong." As you said, if even the body was prepared in advance, then the voice should have been recorded in advance, but on the day of the crime, I met Daisy, and she was still alive and well. โ
"There's a lot of weirdness in the world. Eric didn't know how to explain it for a moment, because if he wanted to understand this incredible, he would have to tell Bailey about the attack they had encountered Cher in the snow, and then the purpose of their trip would gradually be revealed, and it would definitely be a murderous disaster for this uninformed police officer.
"I don't think there are three people in the world who are exactly like Thomas. Also, don't forget that they are a family, which means that the man who looks exactly like Thomas happens to be in love and married to a woman who looks exactly like Mrs. Tracy, and finally gives birth to a daughter who looks exactly like Daisy, and even more coincidentally, they are all found by the murderer in the end?" Bailey asked Eric with a glare, as if the last half of the unspoken words were all in this look:
"Unless the killer clones them. โ
