Chapter 66: A Busy Summer Vacation

As expected, Evan was very busy throughout the summer.

At four o'clock in the morning on the first day of the holiday, Dobby, the house-elf, hurried to Aven's house, and as he had done at Hogwarts or Malfoy's house, he began to consciously tidy up the house.

At six o'clock, Mrs. Mason woke up early to get ready for work, only to find that breakfast had been prepared, the rubbish had been tidied up, the floors, glass, and furniture had been cleaned, and even the lawn in the garden had been neatly manicured.

It was incredible, and she ran upstairs in a panic to ask Evan what was going on.

After figuring out what had happened, Evan had to tell his mother that it was all magic.

It took a lot of talk, but until the end, Mrs. Mason didn't fully believe him. She knew her son too well for Evan to take the initiative to do the housework, especially at four or five o'clock in the morning.

Seeing his mother's suspicious gaze, Evan smiled wryly.

As soon as she left her room, Evan summoned Dobby and told him that he didn't need to do anything like that again, but it didn't seem to work well.

Dobby stared at two big light bulb-like eyes, looked at Evan pitifully, and repeatedly asked if there was something he didn't do properly, and after Evan said it more than ten times, he suddenly cried bitterly, suspecting that Evan was going to drive him away.

In the end, Evan had to comfort him in turn.

Through this incident, Evan realizes that trying to convince a house-elf to reduce his workload is simply asking for trouble.

Thankfully, Hogwarts Wizardry has a lot of work, otherwise he wouldn't have known what to do with a "workaholic" house-elf.

Surprisingly, newspaper sales during the summer holidays were no less than they were when they were in school.

Even though there are no photographs and novels of Lockhart, Aven's "Me and the Basilisk at Hogwarts" is of great interest.

In addition to the young wizards, many adult wizards also began to subscribe to the newspaper. At first, they wanted to read about the Chamber of Secrets and the Basilisk, but then they were attracted to other articles in the newspapers, and most of them found them interesting.

This is mainly thanks to the help of thousands of ghosts all over the UK, led by the almost headless Nick, who are now the main source of news for the newspaper, and the ghosts' 24-hour sleepless and unique perspective that distinguishes them from humans provide Evan with many interesting news articles and untold secrets.

Over the next few days, the success of the newspaper caused a large number of owls to fly home, which frightened Mrs. Mason, and in order not to worry his mother, Evan finally had to change the address to Hogwarts, so that Dobby could collect and organize it every day before sending it to himself.

Due to the overzealous enthusiasm of readers and ghosts, the work of manuscript editing and review has become increasingly onerous.

Evan had planned to ask everyone to come and help, but because the Weasleys won the Golden Galleon of the Year prize from the Daily Prophet, the family set off for a trip to Egypt in the second week of the summer vacation, visiting their eldest son, Bill, and not returning until the end of the summer vacation.

Hermione then followed her parents to France, and although she didn't miss a single review article, all the other aspects of the work were on Evan alone.

Harry and Colin had come to help a few times, but to a limited extent.

Rather than the tedious word-processing work, they were more likely to discuss topics related to the recent Quidditch League, summer homework, or the prison break from Sirius Black, and the two of them had only visited Evan in the first few days of the summer.

Soon after, Colin went with his father and brother to his hometown in the countryside to escape the summer.

Harry was much less lucky, for he had been locked up since Ron had called the Dursleys on the fifth day of the summer vacation, and was not allowed to leave the house at all.

Even when Evan came to visit in person, they wouldn't let him in.

Just as Evan was about to rescue Harry, Harry asked Hedwig to bring him a letter. Harry meant that he himself had better be honest lately and not make his aunt angry, if he still wanted Uncle Vernon to sign his parental consent form for his visit to Hogsmeade.

From then on, Evan had no choice but to ask Dobby to bring Harry some food every day to make sure the Dursleys didn't starve him to death.

Although the manuscript editing and processing work is heavy, Evan can handle it alone.

In his spare time, Dobi helped him go to Diagon Alley to buy a lot of magic books related to magic potions, brain occlusion, and protective charms, which were not cheap, and almost all of his savings were spent.

A magic wand is required to cast a protective charm, and according to the relevant regulations on the reasonable restraint of underage wizards, underage wizards are not allowed to use magic outside of school, and everyone's wand will be tracked by the Ministry of Magic, so after Evan mastered the theoretical points of this spell, he focused on brain occlusion and magic potions.

As a magical art that resists the infiltration of outside spirits, Occlumency can seal the brain to resist the invasion and influence of magic.

The trick to casting this spell is to empty your brain so that it is impossible for others to get memories from your mind through magic. Masters of Occlumency, like Snape, can even concoct a false memory to deceive intruders.

Evan wasn't able to do that yet, in fact, he had problems getting started, and he found it difficult to empty his brain.

He would always have some strange ideas in his head, or unconsciously study some magical puzzle. After trying it for a long time, he had to take up Occlumency as a long-term practice, hoping to master the spell by the end of his second year.

In addition to the Occlumency and Protector Charms, Evan found that the potion was not quite what he had originally thought. This potion does not help wizards permanently increase their mana, but only greatly increases their mana levels for a period of time, assisting the user in combat or completing an esoteric spell.

Evan had thought about it, it was too wasteful for a precious, lost magic potion like a magic potion to increase the staying power of a battle.

After going through all the magic books he could buy, he finally decided to use them to help him complete the Animagus transformation.

The Animagus is a profound transfiguration spell that turns a wizard into an animal of some kind, and for most wizards, even adult wizards, this spell is extremely esoteric and dangerous, let alone a young wizard like Evan who has just turned twelve.

In the Animagus process, it is easy for the practitioner to go mad for various reasons, which eventually leads to the failure of the transformation or even death.

As a result, the Ministry of Magic strictly controls this spell, requiring all Animagus shapeshifters and traits to register with the Ministry of Magic's Office of Misuse of Magic, with a dedicated person responsible for monitoring the entire process of the first transformation, and there are only seven Animagus who have successfully registered in the entire twentieth century.

Of course, this is certainly not the total number of people who have mastered the Animagus Transfiguration Wizards.

Evan knew that there were many Animagus who had never registered, such as Peter Pettigrew who had been dangling in front of his eyes and Sirius Black who was about to appear. They both completed their transformations when they were students, and in light of this, Aven, who had the help of the enchantment potion, decided to complete his own Animagus this summer.

He had studied it carefully, and in order to become an Animagus, in addition to a strong knowledge of the theory of transfiguration, he also needed a lot of magic support.

Theoretical knowledge is not a problem, and Evan specifically asked Tom Riddle about the Animagus Transfiguration when he was in possession of the diary last semester, and received a lot of help from him. Although Voldemort's character is not very good, he is on a par with Dumbledore in terms of magical knowledge.

The trouble is that the mana that needs to be consumed during the first transformation process, from a human to an animal requires a lot of mana support, depending on the shapeshifter's physique, it is often one to five times that of an adult wizard, which is the main reason why most wizards fail to complete the transformation.

It is common practice to buy large amounts of auxiliary potions that replenish mana.

The price of this potion is very expensive, and the effect is relatively average, far less effective than a potion that greatly increases one's own mana level like the Magic Enhancement Potion.

Thus, with the help of the Enchantment Potion, Aven's Animagus transformation was almost non-existent.

He tried to practice many times and gradually got the hang of it. After more than a month of preparation, in the fifth week of the summer vacation, Evan locked himself in his room to try his first transformation, and he instructed Dobby to stay outside his door and not allow anyone to enter without his consent.
