Chapter 194: Speculation

The interior of the house was very simple, and Claes looked around several times and found nothing suspicious.

"Young man, why are you in a daze? Come and get the medicine, there are still a lot of people lined up behind. In the center of the room, an old man in a silver robe greeted Claes with a smile. Behind him, on either side, stood two guards in black armor.

"Could it be that this is the transformed weirdo?" Claes glanced at the voice, and instead of responding to the old man's words, he stared at the black-armored guard behind the old man and thought.

"What's the matter? You're interested in the Holy Sword?" the old man didn't get angry when he saw this, and looked at Claes and asked.

"Holy Sword, does the old gentleman mean them?" asked Claes, gesturing to the black-armored guard behind the old man.

"That's right, after getting older, plus I don't have much combat power, so I always feel a little unsteady when I go out without bringing a few holy swords. The old man nodded and said.

"Holy Sword, it sounds powerful. They must be very strong, right?" Chryss asked with an envious look when he heard this.

"It's okay, but you don't have to envy them. If you're lucky, you might be one of them. The old man touched the beard on his chin and said with a smile.

"Really, is it really possible for me to be as good as them?, old man, what can I do to become like them?" asked Claes in surprise.

"Come, take this medicine first. With a bit of luck, you can be like them, and maybe even better than them. The old man pointed to the green pill in the brown box on the table.

"It seems that there is still something wrong with this medicine. Claes listened to the old man's words and thought to himself as he looked at the pills on the table.

"Why are you in a daze again? Hurry up. The old man urged.

"I'm sorry. Claes glanced at the old man's obviously impatient expression, and without any further hesitation, he picked up a pill from the box on the table and put it in his mouth, then turned and walked out of the hut.

"Vivien, can you use magic to find out how many people are inside?" Ares asked Vivien, pointing to the town of Rum below, on the cliff outside of Rum.

"There's no problem with the number of people to probe, but I'm afraid there may be saint-level mages inside. In case he senses a magic fluctuation, we are exposed. Vivien replied hesitantly.

"Now the first responders can only take a risk, and even if they are exposed, it is much better than if we were in an ambush after we went in. Ares said.

"Okay, then I'll get started. Vivien closed her eyes and began to use magical perception.

"How's it going?" asked after a moment as Vivien put away her magic.

"There is no hidden power, and the true number of the opposing guards' forces is about the same as what we just observed. But the smell of four people in that house made me feel very uncomfortable. Vivien replied.

"Uncomfortable?" Ares looked at Vivien quizzically.

"Well, I can't say exactly. Anyway, it's a feeling I've never felt before, and I don't know why, I just instinctively feel this feeling very uncomfortable. Vivien explained.

"That... Vivien, have you noticed my second brother?" Eli interjected.

"How is that possible? Even if I knew what your second brother looked like, I wouldn't have been able to tell him by magic. What's more, I don't know your second brother at all, how can I answer this question if you ask me?" Vivien said dissatisfied, glancing at Eli.

"I'm sorry, I just... Eli quickly apologized.

"It's all right, Eliel, you don't have to worry too much. Judging from the current situation, they should be arranging for the newly brought group of people to move in. Your second brother must have entered the area before we came, so we didn't see him. Ares turned to comfort Eliel.

"Well, I just couldn't control it for a while. Eliel nodded.

"Okay, you can rest assured. As you said before, they're going to somehow turn conscripts into weirdos. I don't know how they did it, but I don't think the process of this evil thing will be very good, so there should be people who resist it when it is transformed. And with the current defensive strength in Lum Town, it is obvious that there is no way to ensure that the transformation ceremony of these hundreds of people will go smoothly. Therefore, they should not be prepared to let these people transform immediately, so your second brother should be safe before this. Just wait for us to figure out a way and deal with the guards outside, and you can slowly go to those houses to find your second brother. Vivien continued Ares' words.

"Well, I see, thank you. Eliel said.

"What should we do now? Kill you right now, these guards shouldn't be able to stop you now, right?" Vivien nodded in response to Eliel, then looked at Ares and asked.

"I think it's fine, but I think there's something wrong. Ares said after staring at the town of Rum below for a moment.

"What's wrong?" asked Vivien.

"In the towns we passed through, almost everyone was taken captive. This shows that the Adventist Church is desperate for this so-called conversion ritual to the point of madness. How could he resist not attacking these two hundred people now, let alone arranging only such a few guards, could there be any traps in this?"

"No, no matter how powerful they are, they can't calculate in advance that we will come to save people, right? Even if you want to set a trap, you shouldn't choose such a place. Could it be that there is too much pressure on the front line to spare enough manpower. So now we will settle them here for the time being, and then we will concentrate on them later?" Vivien thought after listening to Ares's words.

"There is a lot of pressure on the front line, shouldn't we pay more attention to the transformation of weirdos? I heard the second brother say that those weirdos are killing machines, and they are completely born for war. Eliel said.

"Then what should we do? We can't wait here, can we? If the other party sends guards over, then it won't be so easy for us to save people. Vivien said a little anxiously.

"That's right, what the Adventist is up to, we're guessing here to no avail. But at least now is the time when the opponent's defense is at its weakest, and in any case, it is important to save people first. Vivien, can you elaborate on the situation in that room, and is there anyone else besides the four people who made you uncomfortable?" Ares retracted his gaze from Rum Town, turned around and began to discuss a concrete plan of action with the two beside him.
