Volume 2 Plane Battle, Chapter 184, Twenty Heavens
Yang Zhuochao also saw Xie Bi'an's crampedness at this time, he patted Bai Wuchang Xie Bi'an's shoulder and said: "What I said just now didn't mean anything else, Lord Impermanence doesn't need to mind! I'm just curious about how I can be so knowledgeable and talented as an Impermanence Adult?
Bai Wuchang Xie Bi'an felt relieved when he heard Yang Zhuochao say this! After bowing and saluting, he said: Shangxian said that he was laughing, and Bi'an was just because he had studied some things of Buddhism and Taoism by himself when he was idle in this dark world! Not to mention erudition!
It's just that..... Xie Bi'an looked a little hesitant. When Yang Zhuochao was feeling strange, Xie Bi'an approached him and whispered in a voice that could only be heard by the two of them: "Immortal, don't you know, the Asura clan has been sending people to have frequent contacts with people in the underworld recently.
I suspect that they want to unite with the underworld to fight against the Twenty Heavens of the .....Thirty-Three Days on Mount Na Sumeru!
Yang Zhuochao asked suspiciously: Is this just the speculation of Lord Impermanence, or has it been ..... Do you have any evidence in hand?
Bai Wuchang Xie Bi'an looked nervously at the rest of the people again, and then said: I definitely don't dare to say this nonsense! There is some evidence, but it is not enough.
Yang Zhuochao asked, "What does Lord Impermanence mean by telling me this?"
Xie Bi'an hurriedly shook his head and said: "Shangxian, I didn't mean that! It's just that I also think that there is no need for Netherworld to participate in this kind of thing, in case it really starts, there is not much benefit in winning, and if you lose, you can .....
The main reason for following the immortals about this matter is that I heard that the real master of the Netherworld, that is, the "Great God of the Earth" who founded it, had a great friendship with your "Immortal Sacred Mountain" back then! Let the Immortals try to stop this, so as to preserve the last vestiges of peace in the underworld.
After hearing this, Yang Zhuochao pondered for a long time. After a while, he said, "I need to think about this!" As for how to help the Netherworld, I will discuss it with the people below. Oh, yes, you go on to tell me a little bit more about these messages, like the "twenty heavens" I just mentioned.
Bai Wuchang Xie Bi'an nodded and said: The stakes are very high, it is good that the immortals need to be cautious! Then I will talk about the situation of the twenty heavens. First of all, the twenty heavens is a Buddhist term. Heaven, as an abbreviation, has three meanings in Buddhism: 1. It refers to the heavenly realm, such as the heavenly way and the heavenly realm in the six realms and the ten realms. It is also like the four heavenly kings, the Tushi heaven, and the heaven of his transformation.
2. Refers to the heavenly kings, such as the great Brahma, the emperor, and the great merit. Third, it refers to the heavenly beings, such as the heavens, humans, and assuras of the Three Good Paths. Buddhism believes that celestial beings are the most wonderful, kindest, and happiest places for sentient beings.
Only those who practice the Ten Good Karmic Paths can be reborn in the heavenly realm and become celestial beings. However, although the "heavens" are in the highest and most superior position among the sentient beings and can enjoy all kinds of enjoyment, they have not yet jumped out of the cycle of samsara, and once they have enjoyed all their previous karma, they will fall back into samsara.
The Buddhist explanation is that when the Buddhist scriptures speak of "heaven", in addition to referring to the category of sentient beings as positive retribution, it also refers to the retribution, i.e., the living environment of these sentient beings.
The heavens, which are the subject of Buddhist statues, are mainly spoken of in the sense of the aforementioned sentient beings. It's just that most of these "celestial beings" have extraordinary abilities, and compared with the other five realms of reincarnation, they have the highest class and relatively greater blessings.
Buddhism refers to some gods from ancient Hindu mythology and other religions as heavens, and incorporates them as the protector gods of Buddhism. And so the ranks of the heavens continued to grow!
Buddhism also divides the heavenly realms of the six realms into three realms: the realm of desire, the realm of color, and the realm of colorlessness, collectively known as the three realms! Among them, there are six heavens in the realm of desire, including the four heavenly kings, the heavenly realm, and the Tushi heaven.
There are eighteen layers of heaven in the color world, mainly including the Great Brahma, the Pure Heaven, the Thoughtless Heaven, and the Great Freedom Heaven. There are four layers of heaven in the colorless realm, which are "the boundless sky of emptiness", "the boundless sky of knowledge", "the sky of nothingness", and "the heaven of non-thinking and non-thinking".
Their names are: 1. Great Brahma, 2. Shakti, 3. King of Tawen, 4. King of Holding the Kingdom, 5. King of Growth, 6. King of Wide-eyed Heaven, 7. Secret Vajra, 8. Great Freedom Heaven or Mahara, 9. Great General of Fat Scattering, 10. Great Debate Heaven,
11. Great Merit Heaven, 12, Wei Dao Heavenly God, 13, Firm Earth God, 14, Bodhi Tree God, 15, Devil Son and Mother, 16, Mori Zhitian, 17, Sun Palace Heavenly Son, 18, Moon Palace Heavenly Son, 19, Suo Exhaustion Dragon King, 20, Yamamara King. That's the twenty heavens!
Later, four gods were added, and it became the "twenty-four heavens", namely the twenty-one, kinara, twenty-two, Ziwei Emperor, twenty-three, Dongyue Emperor, twenty-four, and the thunder god. The last three are Taoist gods, which shows the tendency of Buddhism and Taoism to borrow and merge with each other later!
Great Brahma, "Brahma" means "pure", "renunciation". Brahma, along with Vishnu and Shiva, is the three main gods of Hinduism.
Emperor Shakti, which means "Emperor Nengtian". After becoming the protector of Buddhism, he was regarded as the lord of the heavens.
Duowen Heavenly King, named Bishamen, green, armor-wearing, holding a treasure umbrella in his right hand and holding a god mouse ~ silver mouse in his left hand. "Smelling more" is a metaphor for blessing and virtue, and it is heard in all directions. It is the guardian king of the northern Ashizhou. He lived in Sumeru, where the mountains and rivers were prosperous, and he held a treasure umbrella to subdue the demons and protect the belongings of all beings.
The king of the holding country, named Dorozha, is white, wears armor, and holds a lute. The Lord guards the East, and is the protector of the Dongsheng Divine Continent! "Holding the country" means to be compassionate and protect all sentient beings. He lived in Mount Meru, and he was the main god of music, so he held a lute, indicating that he wanted to use music to convert sentient beings to Buddhism.
The growth of the heavenly king, the name is next to the glaze, the body is blue, the armor is worn, the sword is in his hand, and he lives in the glazed port of Mount Meru. It is said that he was able to lead the doves and lili to guard the southern Futizhou. It can teach sentient beings, increase good roots, and support the Dharma.
The wide-eyed king, whose name is Biliubocha, has a red body, wears armor, and has a dragon wrapped around his hands. He can observe the world at any time with a pure eye and protect Xiniu Hezhou, and is the protector of Xiniu Hezhou. He lives in the white clouds of Mount Meru, is the leader of the dragons, so he wraps a dragon in his hand, also known as the red rope, and sees that some people do not believe in Buddhism, so he catches it with the red rope and converts it to Buddhism.
Secret Vajra, also known as the Yaksha King, Vajra Lux, Vajra Holder, Vajrapani Bodhisattva, Holding Vajra God. He was a god of great power, who was originally an attendant of Nayan Rati in India, and was later transformed into a brave protector god in Buddhism.
It is said that he lives at the top of the color world, is the lord of the three thousand worlds, and is at ease in the three thousand worlds, so it is also called "the great freedom in the sky". The archetype of the Great Freedom Heaven in Hindu mythology is Shiva.
Shiva is the god of destruction and the god of asceticism and dance. It is said that he has great power, and the third eye on his head can spew out divine fire to burn everything, and can also dominate all the joys and sorrows of the world.
Fat Scattering General, which means secret god. The general of the scattered fat is one of the eight great medicine fork generals of the northern Bishamen Heavenly King. The rest are: General Baoxian, General Manxian, General Zhongting, General Yingnian, General Manman, General Wubi and General Miyan.
In Buddhism, there are two great heavenly kings who each have 28 ghosts and gods, among which the general of the fat is the highest, he commands the 28 people, patrols the world, rewards the good and punishes the evil.
The Great Debate is also called the Great Debate Meritorious Heaven, and it is also called the beautiful sound day and the wonderful sound day. This is a god in charge of wisdom and merit!
Great merit day, that is, auspicious goddess. She was the concubine of Vishnu and was revered as the "Great God". Legend has it that she appeared when she stirred the Milk Sea, so she was also named "Daughter of the Milk Sea".
Wei Dao is the protector of Buddhism. Legend has it that after Shakya's death, the gods and kings discussed cremating the body and collecting relics to build a pagoda as offerings. At this time, Shakti came to the crematorium with the Seven Treasure Vase in his hand and said that the Buddha had promised him a Buddha tooth.
So he first took off the Buddha's tooth and prepared to go back to build a pagoda to make offerings. From time to time, there are Rakshasa ghosts hiding next to the emperor, taking advantage of people's inattention, stealing the Buddha's tooth relics. Seeing this, Wei Daotian rushed to catch up, captured the Rakshasa ghost in an instant, retrieved the relics, and won the praise of the kings of the heavens, believing that he could drive away evil spirits and protect the Dharma.
Firm to God, meaning that God is as strong as the earth. It is also called "earth and heaven" and "earth goddess". The duty of the earth and heaven is to protect the land and all the plants on it. The Buddha once said to her, "Thou hast great divine power, and the gods cannot reach it."
The god of the Bodhi tree, that is, the goddess who guards the Bodhi tree. The Bodhi tree, whose real name is Long Bowl Tree, is an evergreen tree with ovate leaves, yellowish-white stems, and the seeds of the tree can be used as prayer beads.
Legend has it that Shakyamuni was under this tree, after seven days and seven nights, and finally became a Buddha after contemplating the twelve karmas, so this tree is called the Bodhi tree. Bodhi means "enlightenment" and "wisdom". The Bodhi tree guarded Shakya's side before he became a Buddha, and it is probably the earliest Buddhist protector deity.
The devil mother is also a happy mother, a loving mother, and a Buddhist protector. Originally a ghost girl from the outside, specializing in cannibalistic children. There are many accounts of her conversion to Buddhism in Buddhist scriptures.
According to the records, in ancient times, there was a birth of the Buddha of Dujue in the city of Wangshe, and a celebration was held, and 500 people attended. On the way, he met a pregnant cowherd girl and persuaded her to go to the meeting to celebrate. The woman accompanied her and was overjoyed, but she had a miscarriage halfway.
At this time, everyone abandoned her, so she was very angry, and swore a poisonous oath that she would be reborn in the city of the king's house in the next life, and eat all the children in the city. Later, she was really reincarnated in Wangshe City, the daughter of the medicine fork god Po Qiduo, and gave birth to 500 children after marriage.
She is self-confident and preys on other people's young children every day. When the Buddha heard this, he was very worried, and in order to save the innocent children in the royal city, he decided to use compassion and ease to educate the devil children and mothers, so that they would abandon evil and follow good, so as to calm the hearts of parents in the world.
