There is also a story about the origin of this precious jade: in the Spring and Autumn Period, there was a Chu man named Bian He, who by chance found an ordinary jade at the foot of a mountain, and in order to show his loyalty to the monarch, he dedicated this jade to King Chu Li. Jade is a natural jade material that looks no different from ordinary stone if it is not sawn. King Chu Li found the Xiangyu family for identification, and the jade worker thought that this was an ordinary stone with no value. King Li was very angry and thought that Bian He intended to deceive him, so he ordered Bu He's left foot to be cut off and Bian He expelled from the state of Chu.

After the death of King Chu Li, King Wu of Chu succeeded to the throne, Bian He rushed back to Chu State, and dedicated this piece of jade to King Wu of Chu, the jade worker was still identified as a stone, and the martial artist cut off Bian He's right foot for the crime of bullying the king.

After another few decades, Wen Gan, the son of King Wu, succeeded to the throne. Bian He replied: "I did not cry because my feet were cut off, but because I was mistaken for a stone even though I was a treasure jade, and the loyal man was regarded as a deceitful minister, and I cried for the king, he was right and wrong, black and white are not distinguished!" After hearing this, King Wen ordered someone to bring Bian He to the palace and make the jade worker cut open the jade pure, and sure enough, he got a piece of flawless jade. In order to reward Bian He's loyalty to the king, King Wen named this jade "He's Bi" and treasured it as a national treasure.

The news of the discovery of "He's Bi" soon spread to the vassal states, and the kings of the vassal states wanted to see this precious jade with their own eyes. In 333 years before Gongwu, the state of Chu swallowed up the state of Yue, and Chu Weigong gave the Heshi bi to Zhaoyang because of the merit of the Xiangguo Zhaoyang to destroy the Yue. But at this moment, He's bi was stolen, and the disappearance of the national treasure shocked the court and beyond, and people searched for this priceless treasure jade, but to no avail. People looked at Zhang Yi with suspicion, because Zhang Yi was lobbying in the state of Chu at the time and had been drinking with Zhaoyang, and people thought that he had the conditions and opportunity to steal He's bi. The people of Chu tortured Zhang Yi severely, but Zhang Yi refused to admit it, and the Chu people had no choice but to release Zhang Yi. After Zhang Yi was humiliated, he moved to the Qin State, and later became the prime minister of the Qin State, making great contributions to the future strength of the Qin State. The state of Chu lost a talent for a national treasure, which they did not expect.

After disappearing for decades, He's Bi suddenly appeared in Zhao State one day, and how He's Bi ended up in Zhao has become a mystery in history. When Zhao Huiwen was king, a eunuch named Miao Xian bought this piece of jade from an outsider, and after being identified by the jade worker, he knew that it was He's Bi, who had been missing for many years. When King Zhao learned about it, he took away this precious jade. The news that Zhao had obtained He's Bi soon reached the ears of King Qin Zhao, who was impressed by this rare treasure and sent a letter to King Zhao, hoping to exchange 15 cities for He's Bi. King Zhao knew that the Qin State wanted to take it by force, but the Qin State was powerful, and he was afraid that offending the Qin State would cause the disaster of the Fire State, so he had to send Lin Xiangru Shubi to the Qin State.

Lin Xiangru arrived in the Qin State and dedicated the Heshi Bi to the King of Qin, and the King of Qin saw the jade bi, thinking that it was really worthy of the name, and was very happy, and passed the Tubi to the ministers of the left and right funeral concubines to watch, and everyone shouted Long live. Lin Xiangru saw that the king of Qin had no intention of ceding the city to Zhao at all, so he stepped forward and said, 'There is a flaw on the wall, let me show it to the king.' King Qin handed the bi to Lin Xiangru, who stood with the bi in his hand and said angrily: "The king, if you want to get this bi, send someone to send a letter to King Zhao." When King Zhao convened his ministers to discuss, the ministers thought that the Qin State was bullying people according to their situation, and exchanging Qiaoza City for Jade was just empty talk. But I don't think the people will be deceived in their dealings with each other, not to mention that the Qin State is a big country! Besides, it is really not worth offending the Qin State because of one piece. King Zhao took my suggestion, and in order to show his respect for the Qin State, King Zhao fasted for five days before sending me to give you Bi. But the king, you were rude and arrogant when you summoned me, and you also passed the bi to everyone, which is teasing me and Zhao Guo. I see that the king has no intention of cutting the city and taking it back. If you force me to offer the jade again, my head will be smashed against this pillar along with the jade. Lin Xiangru said, holding the jade bi high and making it look like it hit the pillar. The king of Qin was afraid that the jade bi would be shattered, so he quickly apologized, and summoned someone to bring a map, pointing out that 15 cities were cut off for the king of Zhao. Lin Xiangru saw that this was just a delaying tactic by the King of Qin, so he said to the King of Qin: "King Zhao sent me to fast for five days before sending Bi, and now the king you should also fast for five days, and set up a gift of nine guests, so that I will sacrifice the jade wall" King Qin saw that he could not take it by force, so he had to agree. Lin Xiangru returned to Binshe, thinking that although the king of Qin had promised to fast, the king's every move showed that it was impossible for him to cede the city to the state of Zhao. So he sent his subordinates to disguise themselves and carry the jade bib in their arms, and fled back to Zhao overnight.

Five days later, the King of Qin set up a nine-bin ceremony in the palace and ordered someone to invite Lin Xiangru. After Lin Xiangru entered the palace, he said to the King of Qin: "There have been more than 20 monarchs in the Qin State since the Duke of Miao, and none of them have kept their promises. I am worried that I will fail the trust placed in me by the King of Zhao because of your breach of the contract, so I have sent someone to send the jade bi back to the Zhao Kingdom. The Qin State is strong and the Zhao State is weak, if the Great Cadre first cuts the Qiaocheng to the Zhao State, how can the Zhao State stay and offend you? I know that the crime of bullying the king should be killed, I am willing to go to the soup pot, you can watch it. King Qin and the giants looked at each other after hearing this. Some ministers suggested that Lin Xiangru be imprisoned and then attack Zhao. Qin Gan thought that even if he killed Lin Xiangru, he would not get the jade, and it would also worsen the relationship between the two countries, so it was better to treat Lin Xiangru well, and he could also gain the reputation of a Ming Jun. So the king of Qin entertained Lin Xiangru with grand etiquette in the court and sent him back to Zhao, which is the story of "returning to Zhao" in history, Lin Xiangru kept He's bi with his bravery and wisdom.

In 228 BC, the army of Qin captured Zhao, and King You of Zhao surrendered and sacrificed his family. At the end of Qin, Xiang Yu led his troops to attack Xianyang, burned Qin palaces, excavated Qin tombs, and plundered treasures and beauties, and He's Bi may be among them. But in the ensuing Chu-Han War, Xiang Yu was defeated, and the whereabouts of He's Bi were unknown. It may have been hidden in Xiang Yu's capital Pengcheng (present-day Xuzhou, Jiangsu), or it may have been left behind in Xiangyu's defeated and dead Hai (present-day Lingbi, Anhui).
