Section 2 Backgammon learning machine

My cousin used to have a backgammon learning machine, which could be plugged in to play 8-bit games, such as tank battles, bees, etc., and could also use floppy disks, which came with the famous DOS system. When they got a computer, they gave me the backgammon, and I was so happy. But what is frustrating is that when I moved home and plugged in the TV, it turned out that I couldn't enter the system at all, and it could only show a black patch. I was most interested in the DOS system, which had a notepad and other handlers, and I thought I would be able to practice typing after this, but I didn't expect the system to be broken.

Floppy disks are not common anymore, but in the past, this was an important medium for storing data, and at that time even hard disks were only that little in size, let alone USB flash drives, and at that time USB flash drives had not been invented at all.

After trying countless times, I finally had to accept this reality. I guess the floppy disk is broken. At that time, I saw the concept of "system disk" and "formatting" from the book, and I vaguely knew that the disk with the DOS system should be called the system disk, and I didn't understand the concept of "formatting" at all, thinking that after formatting, the floppy disk would become a system disk.

So, I took the opportunity to go to the city and went to Xinhua Bookstore to buy a floppy disk. At that time, I also told the sales staff that I must help me format this disk, because I thought that as long as it was formatted, there would be a DOS system in it, so that I could use it when I went back.

The result was still frustrating, the floppy disk I bought back still didn't work, and I still couldn't get into the DOS system. Now that I think about it, the main reason is that I made a mistake, the floppy disk does need to be formatted before use, but after formatting, the floppy disk is a blank disk. In order to make a system disk, the DOS system must be installed on it.

Later, the backgammon learning machine ended up being played as a game console, and my first self-study trip ended in failure.

In my memory, the first time I actually used a computer and surfed the Internet was in 2000, when I just graduated from high school, I walked into an Internet café for the first time and applied for my first QQ number.
