Volume 2 Plane Battle, Chapter 180: The Asura Path

Yang Zhuochao frowned and said: Listening to it, I feel that between the "six paths" of Western Buddhism and the "five paths" of Taoism, there is actually one "asura" missing!

Bai Wuchang Xie Bi'an replied: The "six realms" of Buddhism refer to the fact that sentient beings in the world have karmic retribution for creating good and bad karma, and this karmic retribution has six places, which are called the six realms.

According to the wisdom of the saints, the Buddha summarized all sentient beings in the world into six categories: heaven, human, asura, animal, hungry ghost, and hell, the first three of which belong to the three good paths, and the last three belong to the three evil paths.

The way of heaven is divided into the desire realm heaven, the color realm heaven, and the colorless realm heaven. The way of heaven, the path of assurance, and humanity are the good paths, in which sentient beings create more good karma than bad karma, and there is more happiness and less suffering.

Although the asura path enjoys the blessings of heaven and man, its mind is polluted by all kinds of causes and causes all kinds of bad karma, and when its good fortune is over, it will fall into the realm of people, animals, hungry ghosts, and even hell with the negative karma.

Animals, hungry ghosts, and hells are called the three evil realms, in which sentient beings create more negative karma than good karma, and suffering is more than happiness. Among them, the beings of hell feed on knowledge, but they have no pleasure.

The Buddha used various metaphors to give the public an intuitive feeling of the various "happiness" and suffering of the six realms, and to guide the direction of how to be free from suffering and achieve happiness. The wise man, on the other hand, obtains the profound and true meaning of the Buddha through parables, achieves great compassion, saves sentient beings from eternal troubles, life and death, and dwells in happiness, subtle and true.

Buddhism believes that the six realms are not just after death, but that there are six realms of reincarnation in life. Don't think that if you are too early to die, you will be able to create bad karma at will.

The five ways of Taoism are taught that those who do good become gods, and those who do evil go to hell, and persuade people to abandon evil and follow good. It is basically similar to the six paths of Buddhism! In short, they are all based on the basic principle of guiding people to goodness.

Yang Zhuochao nodded and said: It should be like this! If you blindly advocate killing the saints, you will be away from the original intention of the founder at that time.

Bai Wuchang then continued: The asura is called "non-heaven" in Buddhism, and he has the same emotions and six desires as a human being, but he is not a human being! He is a non-human, non-god, non-ghost, non-being. Most of them are very ugly, disgusting, and hateful!

"Karma" is like heaven rather than the righteousness of heaven, that is, the existence of "heaven and man". The celestials are also known as the celestials, that is, the twenty heavens and other gods. In Buddhism, the gods are not free from the cycle of birth and death, and there is still the possibility of falling into the evil path, because they are still on the same level as humans and animals.

Buddhism has the theory of "ten paths", the first four are the Buddha, Bodhisattva, Yuanjue, Shengwen and other "four sages", these four sages are beyond the cycle of life and death; The last six realms are the "sentient beings" such as heaven, humans, asuras, animals, hungry ghosts, and hells, also known as "sentient beings."

Heaven is the head of the "Six Realms", but you have to be careful and work hard to protect the Dharma, otherwise you will be expelled from the "Heavenly Register" and fall into the "Three Evil Realms"!

But the Asura path is one of the six realms in Buddhism, and it is the Hercules of the Desire Realm or the Hercules of the Demigod and Half-Man. Asura is irritable and aggressive, brave and good at fighting, and has fought viciously with the god Deva many times, but Asura also worships Buddhism and is one of the eight divisions of the Buddhist protector god Tianlong.

In Buddhism, there are also certain characteristics that are only mentioned in Buddhist scriptures. The Asura path is very special, the Buddhist scriptures say: The Asura man is ugly, but the Asura woman is upright and beautiful!

Therefore, the king of the asuras often fought with the group of Deva gods led by Shakti, because the asuras had beautiful women but no food, and Shakti had good food but lacked beautiful women, and the two gods were jealous of each other, and there were wars from time to time. Therefore, it is commonly known as the battlefield as the "Shura Field".

The preface to the Lotus Sutra lists the four asura kings, namely the Asura King of Bhagyo, the Asura King of the Raja, the Asura King of Vimaltara, and the Asura King of Rahou.

Due to the large number of Asura kings, their shapes are different, and the image of the Asura kings is also variously said, some have nine heads and thousand eyes, fire in their mouths, nine hundred and ninety hands, eight legs, and their bodies are four times taller than Mount Meru; Some have thousands of heads and 2,000 hands, stepping on the sea and crossing Mount Meru.

Some have three heads and six arms, three sides are blue and black, and they spit fire in their mouths, and they are naked in anger. These images are difficult to represent, and the paintings generally show three eyes on one side or six arms on three sides, or four eyes and four arms, with the sun and moon in their hands, and their feet on the sea, and their bodies over Mount Meru.

It is said that when the world was just formed into the mountains and seas, the playful immortals went to the world to play games! One of the immortals gave birth to a fleshy egg when he was bathing in the sea because of the "water spirit".

After 8,000 years, this flesh egg finally gave birth to a female monster, as long as Mount Meru, with 1,000 eyes, 24 feet, and 999 heads, mouths, and hands.

The female monster then gave birth to a male monster named Vima, because of the incomparable power to come and go freely to heaven and earth, so after seeing that there are countless beauties around the celestial people, they also want to marry a wife.

The female monster proposed to the beautiful Gandharva on behalf of her son, and the Gandharva readily agreed to the marriage, and the Asura clan became more and more prosperous. Vima's amorous daughter made the Heavenly Emperor Shakti, who already had hundreds of millions of wives and concubines, fall in love with her and marry her as a concubine.

Unexpectedly, after the emperor Shakti got married, he liked the new and hated the old, and the Asura female general told her father about it, triggering an unprecedented war. Just as the Asura surrounded Mount Meru, where Shakti lived, Shakti remembered that the Buddha had said that if he encountered great trouble, he could crack the ghost soldiers by reciting the Prajnaparamita mantra.

Sure enough, with a spell, four large sword wheels suddenly flew out of the air, almost cutting off the hands and feet of the Asura King. However, the war between the celestials and the asuras has not come to an end!

At the Battle of Mount Meru, the Asuras were defeated, but their battle with the Celestials did not end there. There are many delicacies and few beauties, and the Shura people have many beauties and few delicacies, and the two sides could have traded peacefully and exchanged ideas. However, due to the existence of feuds, they cannot live in peace and can only plunder by force. As a result, the two sides continued to fight, and the hatred deepened year by year.

As time passed, the Asura clan was gradually suppressed by the celestial crowd and fell into disadvantage, and the Emperor Shakti became more and more arrogant, bullying the Shura clan many times. Maybe it's because the scar is good and forgets the pain, or maybe it's because of the lust and guts, the emperor has taken a fancy to the daughter of the second-generation Asura King Luo Yuluo, and ordered the god of heavenly music to bring a dowry to ask for a kiss!

Saying that it is a request is actually a threat, and through songs, he coerces Luo Yuluo to agree to the marriage. Unexpectedly, Luo Yuluo was angry that Emperor Shitian deceived people too much, not only expelled the god of music from the palace, but also immediately sent troops to attack the celestials.

Luo's throat and angry nose are about to be crooked, this Emperor Shakti is simply too deceitful. So Luo Yuluo expelled the god of music from the palace and decided to attack the celestial people for the sake of force. This time, the Shura warriors didn't know if they were brave because of their anger, or if they were determined to fight to the death, they actually defeated the Emperor's troops and retreated!

Seeing that he was about to capture the Heavenly Palace, Emperor Shakti had no choice but to ask his heavenly brothers Great Brahma, Zizaitian, Yemotian and others to help, and jointly sacrificed their magical powers to defeat the Asura army, and the Shura warriors had no choice but to hide in the lotus root again.

The men are hiding, and the women and children are suffering. The lord of the Emperor Shakti was also lacking in virtue enough, and he directly took away all the women of the Shura tribe in a pot. Luo Yuluo was angry and helpless, thinking about what to do? Since Emperor Shakti was so ruthless, then find someone more ruthless to clean him up. Who is this person? Yes, it is Shakyamuni Buddha.

Luo Yuluo sent an envoy to the Buddha to accuse the emperor of robbing the people's daughters, and there were many heavenly kings and heavenly monarchs as accomplices. When the Buddha found out, he went to Litian and reprimanded him, as a disciple of Buddhism, for committing stealing vows and forming a gang to disturb him.

So, under the mediation of the Buddha, Shakti reached several agreements with the Asura clan, and the celestial beings were willing to return the Asura woman and give heavenly nectar to make amends!

The king of the Asuras offered his daughter to Shakti, but Shakti was not allowed to abandon it again, and it had to be wet with rain and dew. In addition, it is also the most important point for the Buddha, that is, the Asura clan has since held the three refuge and five precepts, converted to Buddhism, and compiled into one of the eight divisions of the Heavenly Dragon.

As a result, Shakti and the Asura tribe temporarily reconciled and became colleagues of the Eight Divisions of the Heavenly Dragon, however, their struggle did not stop, it still continued, and the Buddha acted as an intermediary every time, maintaining the status quo of the Eight Divisions of the Heavenly Dragon, but the small chaos.

Because in addition to the feud between the Celestial Beings and the Shura Beings, there are also troubles such as the conflict between the Garuda Beings and the Delicious Dragons and the Souls of all beings!

In the war of the heavenly realm, when an asura king fought against Shakti, he was called Rajra Asura because his hand could hold the sun and moon and obscure its light.

He can have the power to obstruct the sun and the moon with his hands and form a solar and lunar eclipse; It is because when he was a brahmin in the past, he saw a great fire burning the tower and extinguished the fire so that the tower would not be damaged, and he wished to have a great body because of the good fortune of saving the tower. However, despite this wish, he still did not believe in the Dharma and often loved to fight, so he fell into the asura path after his death.

There are many Asura kings in Buddhist scriptures, and the most famous are the four major Asura kings: one is called Po Yazhi, which means Yongjian, and is the former commander of the Asura army against Shakti. One is called Luo Qiantuo, which means roaring like thunder, also known as broad shoulders, because its two shoulders are broad, it can make the sea turbulent and roar like thunder.

One is called Vimaladara, which means wreath, and it has nine heads, each with a thousand eyes, nine hundred and ninety hands, eight legs, and a mouth that spits fire. One is called Rahu, which means to cover obstacles, because it can cover the light of the sun and the moon with a giant hand. Each asura king commands over thousands of asuras, called asuras, or asuras.

Buddhist scriptures often talk about "asura"! From the six realms of reincarnation, there is the "asura" path. The six realms are one, the heavenly path, the two, the asura, the three, the humane, the fourth, the animal path, the fifth, the hungry ghost path, the sixth, the hellish path.

Humanity and the Heavenly Way are good paths, and the Asura is one of the good paths by nature, but because they often have a heart of hatred and a will to fight, they are not truly good in the end.
