Chapter 193: Test the Arrow

The wrench is placed on the thumb of the right hand, which completely restricts the movement of the front and back sections of the thumb, as if it is inconvenient to do anything. It seems that this thing cannot be worn on the hand all the time. You can only put it in your pocket and put it on when you need to shoot a bow and arrows.

In addition, if you go out to shoot arrows, you can put the arrows wherever you want, but the shaft and the feathers on the arrow are relatively susceptible to damage, so you need to have a container for the arrows to protect the arrows. If you go out hunting with a bow and arrows in the future, you need a quiver that you can easily carry on your body. Now Tagawa doesn't have the time to make a special quiver, what he has to do now is to find a place to test the difference between several different arrows, and only need to make a temporary quiver first.

Find a piece of thick bamboo, cut off a section of more than 60 centimeters from above, one end with a bamboo knot can be used as a bottom, open up a bamboo knot in the middle, it becomes a simple barrel, find a piece of hard sponge to repair into a suitable shape, stuff it into the bottom of the bamboo tube, and then use a piece of raw cowhide without nitrate to cover the mouth of the bamboo tube, tie it tightly with a rope outside, and then poke some holes in the cowhide that can allow arrows to pass through, and you can use it to put arrows. Such a bucket can put more than a dozen arrows, but the arrows of the diamond-shaped arrow cluster are not very convenient to put up, and you can only open the hole / long slit in the cowhide, which can barely be put in. I made three barrels of arrows, put all the arrows in them, and finally I was ready to go.

In between making bows and arrows, Tagawa took time to look for a place in the village and around the village that could be used as an archery range, and finally placed the place under the embankment of the Qinglong River, 200 meters southeast of the farm's headquarters. The low-lying terrain here has a relative height of nearly three meters, so it is easy to shoot arrows at the embankment. There are basically no roads on this section of the embankment, and few people walk on the embankment. There are basically no people on the Qinglong River behind the embankment, so it is not easy to have accidents that hurt people.

Tagawa made five arrow targets out of a 10-centimeter-thick hard sponge, drawing the usual circular patterns in bright red and black on the targets, and bringing a large bundle of thin felt to be used as a shield for arrows.

Driving a farm vehicle, he transported a large pile of cumbersome things to the embankment that was ready to be used as a shooting range, and first together with Li Erbao, who came to help, he used nails to fix the thin felt used as an arrow barrier to the big tree on the embankment, forming a protective net 10 meters wide and 3 meters high. In this way, on the basis of the three-meter-high embankment, the safety protection height is doubled, and it is less likely to cause injury accidents.

Subsequently, the two arrow targets were placed at the foot of the embankment, in the middle of the protective fence, and several positions of 10 meters, 15 meters, 20 meters, 30 meters, and 50 meters away from the target were measured, and they were marked with wooden stakes as a reference for the position of archery, and the test shooting began.

After getting ready, Tian Chuan planned to let Li Erbao go back. However, Li Erbao is also a fun-loving young man, and when he saw such a fun thing, of course he refused to leave, so Tian Chuan threw him a stack of printed record forms and asked him to help him make records.

Tagawa was a lover of archery in his previous life, and used to be a regular visitor to the archery club, and his archery skills were still quite good. However, he was not satisfied with the club's bows, which were generally not strong enough, and used those factory-made light arrows, which had a very short range and very little lethality, and the bows were so bulky that they could not be used for hunting at all. At that time, he wanted to make his own bow and arrow suitable for his own use, and he once soaked in several bow and arrow forums for a long time and learned a lot of bow and arrow knowledge. It's just that I'm too busy at work and don't have the extra money to play these things, which is always a pity.

The bow and arrows I made this time were more comfortable to use, so I immediately tried firing a few arrows at various distances to familiarize myself with this bow. After several arrows were tested in turn, Tagawa found that the accuracy of the diamond-shaped arrow cluster within 15 meters was barely acceptable, and the dispersion could be controlled within a range of 20 centimeters, and after exceeding 15 meters, he did not know where it would fly. The accuracy of the other two arrow clusters is about the same, and it can still maintain without missing the target until a distance of fifty meters, which is not a problem of the arrow, but a problem of his own technology.

Li Erbao also tried to shoot a few arrows, but even at a distance of ten meters, there were still misses. It's not that his accuracy is poor, but it's that he pulled this bow too reluctantly, his hands are shaking, and where can he control what kind of accuracy. After barely shooting a dozen arrows, he couldn't pull the bow anymore, so he had to obediently help Tian Chuan make records.

Tian Chuan shot 30 arrows at each marked distance, and asked Li Erbao to record the number of rings of each numbered arrow, and then count the performance of the arrows made of different materials when he returned. But after more than twenty meters, no more diamond-shaped arrows were fired, and God knows where they would go.

As for the penetrating power of the arrows, Tagawa tested it with a large piece of pork, and the results were similar to what he imagined, and the three-edged arrow cluster was the strongest, regardless of the distance. The conical cluster is a bit worse, while the diamond cluster is much worse, barely sticking the cluster into the pork at fifteen meters.

In addition, heavy arrows do not have an advantage in penetration as expected, and they are not as good as light arrows at relatively long distances, which may be the reason for the slow speed and lack of kinetic energy.

After an afternoon of test firing, you don't need to look at the statistical results to know that the advantages of the three-edged arrow cluster are very obvious. The differences between the shafts of several arrows, as well as the differences in the feathers, need to be further analyzed to see them.

After the basic test was completed, Tagawa practiced left-handed archery for a while. In his previous life, he had never tried to shoot arrows with his left hand, and at this time he practiced at first, and at first he was a little adapted, but after shooting more than a dozen arrows, he gradually felt it. After nearly a year and a half of practice, his left hand has become much more flexible than before, and now when he shoots arrows, the effect of this practice is reflected. After only a while of practice, the left hand is close to the level of the right hand, but there is still a little gap in accuracy, which is not a matter of choice, after all, he is a right-hander.

After putting away the bow and arrow and the target, the thin felt that was used as a fence was hung there, the two got into the farm cart and went back to the headquarters of the farm. Tagawa changed into his own SUV and returned home.

When he got home, Tagawa entered the statistics into his computer and calculated the numbers with Excell, and finally came up with the ideal form of the arrow, which was an arrow using a carbon fiber composite shaft, a triangular cluster of arrows, and feathered feathers, and further tests were needed on the size and shape of the arrows. Anyway, judging from the test situation this time, the effect of the two feathers is basically the same.

There are also some items that need to be tested, such as the optimal weight of the arrow, such as the position of the center of gravity of the arrow, such as the front and rear position of the arrow feathers on the arrow shaft, such as the requirements of different bows for the arrow, such as the difference in the function of two, three, and four arrow feathers, etc., all need to be tested step by step in the future, and finally choose the most suitable arrow for him.

So far, Tagawa's homemade bow and arrow has basically succeeded.

On the basis of his previous work, Tagawa plans to make at least two more bows, one of which is a light bow with less power, which can be used with special short-range arrows to shoot birds, etc. The other is a bow with relatively high strength relative to oneself, which is used to test the maximum range and lethality.

He also has a lot of dissatisfaction with the current bow. The pulling force of this bow is probably close to 100 catties, which is still a little light for him. He hadn't felt too tired after shooting arrows all afternoon today, and if this bow could increase its strength a little more, it would probably increase its power a lot.

According to his own estimates, if the strength reaches about 160 catties, he should be able to open the bow about 50 times in a row, and he can also pull it another thirty or forty times when he changes hands, which is what he thinks is the ideal strength. But he'll have to try again to be sure.

In addition, he wanted to try the difference between the traditional bow and the current single-wood bow. The traditional composite bow made of horn and tendon is much more difficult to make than this simple wooden bow, and the production cycle is nearly 3 years, so it is impossible to spread without obvious advantages.

This kind of horn bow can be divided into a number of genres, common including Chinese mainland "Qing bow", South Korea made "Korean bow", Japan made "and bow", Turkey "earth bow", etc., the shape is different, but the production principle is basically the same, are the use of wood or bamboo as the main body of the bow, on the inside of the bow arm paste horns, on the back of the bow paste beef tendon made, the made bow and the winding direction of the opposite direction, basically forming an approximate ring, that is, the so-called "recurve bow".

It is said that this recurve bow can achieve a large initial velocity of the arrow with a small pulling force, and only in this way can it have an advantage over a single wooden bow. He could understand the principle of this advantage, the tension of the single wooden bow was relatively small when it was relaxed, and as it was gradually pulled apart, its tension became more and more large. When the arrow is released, the thrust of the arrow is the largest at the beginning, and as the bow gradually recovers, its thrust gradually decreases, which is similar to the "Hooke's theorem" in mechanics. The recurve bow in the so-called relaxed state, has been in the winding before the reverse ring on the basis of the completion of a large deformation, when being pulled apart, the degree of deformation changes, relative to the state before the winding, the proportion of deformation is not large, then from the beginning of the bow to the final bow is fully drawn, its relay is always maintained at a relatively large level, when the arrow is released, the thrust of the bowstring to the arrow changes relatively small, and the thrust is always maintained at a relatively large level. In the case of the same wrist force distance of the arrow, of course, the arrow with a large thrust is used to do more work, and the greater the kinetic energy obtained, the greater the speed, and the greater the range and penetrating force.

The principle of action of the modern pulley compound bow should be similar to it, and Tagawa has not conducted special research on this, so he can only guess.
