Chapter 40: Speeches

Chapter 40: Speeches

The Tai Chi seniors talked about this painting, and the next round of the competition was blocked, and it was not until a referee came to remind them that several old gentlemen returned to the rostrum. Soon, the morning match was over, and after the lunch break, the afternoon match continued until after five o'clock before the first round ended. Tomorrow will be the completion of all the remaining races, the champion and runner-up will play seven rounds, and the pressure is still very high.

In the evening, the organizer held a banquet for all the Tai Chi celebrities, and Tian Chuan and Liu Meiting were specially called into the banquet hall by Sun Lao and introduced to the celebrities. Sun Lao specially introduced Tian Chuan's "Tai Chi Tea", and highly respected this painting and Tian Liu's understanding of Tai Chi.

Master Liu Mingtang, as Liu Meiting's master, said: "Meiting has been practicing Yang's Taijiquan since she was a child, and she has been practicing Yang's Taijiquan for more than 30 years, and her understanding is acceptable, but she is not diligent enough to practice boxing, and she has stayed at the level of the second-rate peak for nearly ten years. Oda explored it himself, and was able to draw this picture, which shows that his talent is amazing. ”

Wu Lao said: "Tian Chuan was brought into the field of Taijiquan by me, I am not his master, but I can be his elder." Here, I want to say that you two young people must seriously understand, practice boxing solidly, and carry forward Taijiquan. The tail can't be cocked, and the cocked tail is to fall on the heel. ”

Liu Tian and the others were busy being taught modestly.

Later, when it came to the topic of the development direction of Taijiquan, most people agreed with Mr. Wu Zhenying's speech yesterday, but some seniors believed that China's martial arts have a long history, there are many schools, and each kung fu has its own characteristics, which is difficult to unify. As a representative of martial arts, it is difficult to convince many schools of thought. Martial arts, as a fighting technique, can only be subdued through combat in many cases. And the unified rules are the basis of unity, but try to look at the rules of our game today, other schools obviously can't accept it.

Master Chen Yue also said: "Don't talk about other schools, just say that we have Taijiquan, there are four major schools of Sun, Wu, Yang and Chen, and ten small schools. Each genre of boxing has its own characteristics, but how to unify it?"

In short, opponents agree that there is still a long way to go to develop Tai Chi into a national business card, at least for now.

At this time, Sun Lao suddenly proposed to let Tian Chuan talk about his views, she said: "Our group of old guys each have a group of disciples and grandchildren, and we still have to guard our own one-third of an acre of land when we quarrel, so it is better to let Xiao Tian talk about what young people who have no sectarian views think." Sun Lao was highly respected, and as soon as he said this, everyone quieted down and looked at Tian Chuan.

Tian Chuan stood up, first shook his head, sorted out his thoughts a little, and said:

"Now that Elder Sun has a life, the kid will talk nonsense, if there is anything missing, please bear with the seniors. ”

"Yesterday, I heard Mr. Sun's talk, and I personally agreed with it. In particular, the four principles of openness, inclusiveness, moderation and harmony proposed by Sun Lao are the treasures of the development of Taijiquan. However, I personally think that on top of this, there are two more things to be added: innovation and sustainability. ”

"Let's talk about openness first, we should open the door to Taijiquan, let more people come in, learn this skill, and greatly expand the basic group of people who practice Taijiquan, so that more masters can be born and increase the influence of Taijiquan. Some people may say that there are tens of millions of people in the base of Taijiquan, but the mass base is not enough? Here I would say that this number is false, why? Because these people are just practicing Tai Chi as a broadcast gymnastics, not a combat skill. How many people can really practice Tai Chi martial arts and seriously understand the way of Tai Chi? Can there be 10 times more people than the people who are here today? Are there 10,000 people? I'm afraid not necessarily. Some of them are wild people like me.

As a kind of martial arts, if we come out and compete with other martial arts, how much confidence do we have in the face of masters of boxing, sanda, Muay Thai, karate, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu? Which of the various martial arts schools in our country has the confidence to win in battle?

Why is this happening? It is our view of the portal! The view of the portal limits the number of learners and the number of people in base. If there were more people who practiced boxing, maybe every year there would be super masters like Yang Wushu or the Chen brothers at the end of the 19th century.

Some people may say that the rules passed down from the ancestors cannot be taught at will. But please recall, in modern history, which event brought about the greatest development of Taijiquan? That's right, it was Yang Lu's Zen patriarch Chen Jiagou Xueyi. If it weren't for this thing that broke the view of the door, how could we have the scenery of Taijiquan today?

Looking back, why did our ancestors set such a complicated threshold for teaching arts? I guess the main reason is that they were afraid that their apprentices would rely on martial arts to do evil and affect their teachers. But this rule no longer applies to modern society. Why do you say that? Modern society is a society in which the rule of law has developed to a great extent, and learning boxing can no longer be used as a powerful means to do evil. As the saying goes, no matter how high your martial arts are, you are afraid of kitchen knives, and no matter how good your kung fu is, you can knock it down with one shot. This is an indisputable fact. At the same time, it is nonsense to even affect the teacher, and there is no need to say more about this.

Opening the door and expanding the mass base is an important step that should be taken in the development of Taijiquan. ”

Tian Chuan took a sip of water, and then said, "Let's talk about tolerance." What should we tolerate? Embrace differences, tolerate different opinions. During the talks between China and the United States that year, the prime minister pointed out that the two countries have the same requirements while reserving differences, and this is also applicable to our Taijiquan.

I think the differences between the genres that Mr. Chen just mentioned can be tolerated. Isn't the fact that we are able to sit together today the result of seeking common ground while reserving differences?

Today, we have embraced all schools of Tai Chi and formulated the rules of today's competition. Tomorrow, if Xingyi Fist is included, we may be able to pull Xingyi into our camp.

The sea is inclusive, and there is tolerance. What I want to say is that our world is as big as our hearts. One day we include the Olympic Games, and Tai Chi may become an Olympic sport!"

"Next is the golden mean, which is one of the fundamental theoretical foundations of Tai Chi. First of all, it is important to state that mediocrity is not mediocrity and inaction. Instead, we must stick to our hearts and be impartial. It is not easy to be impartial and mediocre, which is the iron law of doing things. In the process of development, we should also adhere to this principle, uphold a normal heart, grasp the fundamental characteristics of Taijiquan, and maintain the basic characteristics of Taijiquan, so as not to get lost in the development.

Under the premise of openness and inclusiveness, we may absorb many techniques and ideas from various companies. Only by maintaining an impartial golden mean can we maintain the true character of Taijiquan and prevent Taijiquan from becoming Xingyiquan Taijiquan Taiji Flow or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Taiji Style in the process of development.

Moderation is the supplement and improvement of the two principles of openness and inclusiveness mentioned above, and is the foundation of development. ”

"The fourth principle is harmony. What is harmony? When everyone is together, they are happy, and they are harmonious.

Take our Taijiquan as an example, it is harmony to be united and friendly internally, to avoid malicious dumping. Friendly and mutual assistance to the outside world, not brave and ruthless, is harmony. Caring for the family, not ignoring and not rigid, is harmony. Contributing to society and not being a parasite is harmony.

Only with a harmonious internal and external environment can we develop steadily and sustainably.

I believe that each of us, as a member of the Taijiquan family, should start from ourselves and strive to create a harmonious development environment for Taijiquan, so that Taijiquan can become a necessity and promoter of social harmony, so that Taijiquan can be carried forward. ”

Seeing that everyone seemed to be a little bored listening to it, Tian Chuan touched his nose and said: "This harmony sounds a bit like an official clichΓ©, a little empty, let's talk about something dry, and talk about the two I added." ”

"Let's start with innovation. It is estimated that most seniors frowned first when they heard the word innovation. As soon as many things were innovated, they were distorted and became four dislikes, and in the end they couldn't even recognize their own mothers. This is not a problem with innovation, but the problem of moderation mentioned above, which is caused by the loss of original intention in development, this statement is acceptable, right?

There are several meanings of innovation to be said here.

First of all, in order to practice for a wider range of people, the learning method should be innovative. The traditional comprehensive practice, starting from the horse step, and then learning all a dozen fist and foot equipment routines, and to do a board and a glance, without a few years of so-called basic exercises, you can't learn the fighting pusher. Such a long cycle is prohibitive. Here, I don't mean to overturn and abandon these, after all, existence is reasonable, and the methods created by the ancestors always have their meaning.

I suggest whether it is possible to establish a so-called inner and outer door system, where the inner door can continue the traditional method and teach the outer disciples separately according to their learning purposes. Some focus on listening to the pusher, and just want to take the road of martial arts, so they practice pushing. Some focus on health care, so they study more routines and meridians. And so on, maybe it would be more suitable for development.

The other is the innovation of rules. How to improve the enjoyment of the game, how to get close to the actual combat, how to better ensure the fairness, and so on, need to be constantly studied and innovated. Only in this way can we retain the audience and the practitioners.

Some people may want to ask, isn't the big pile you just mentioned just to please the audience? How can we do such tasteless things because of our dignified Taijiquan, high-end atmosphere and high-grade existence, and the people's god-like existence in their hearts? My point of view is that if you don't please the audience and make everyone like it, then who will pay attention to you? No one will pay attention to it, so what else will you develop? Why don't you go home and wash and sleep?

Then there is the instrument technique, which needs to be innovated. Our traditional weapons were originally the main battle weapons on the battlefield, such as swords, guns, swords, sticks, and so on. But what about in the modern society? Everyone has a knife, and the chance to fight to the death is almost gone, and what is the use of equipment routines? I think it can only be a performance, and people don't necessarily like to watch it. We have to find a way to transform. Some people may ask, isn't the same with boxing? No, you are wrong! There are still opportunities to fight with fists, and what man has never dreamed of being a hero to save beauty? I myself have taught the evil boy who molested my beautiful girlfriend.

The swordsmanship used in the duel of gentlemen in the West has been successfully transformed into modern fencing. The Japanese swordsmanship has been transformed into a kendo, which is a bit funny, but it is still transformed. The Filipino knife technique has become a fight with a rattan stick, and those who are afraid of pain are considered losing. And what about us? How many people will watch a Tai Chi sword routine? How many people will pay attention to the ability of this set of swordsmanship to slash? How many years can this set of swordsmanship exist as a fighting technique?

Teachers, let's innovate for the future of traditional device techniques. ”

"Finally, let's talk about continuity. Actually, I don't like the word continuous, I just didn't find a more suitable word.

Sustainability means sustainability. We know that in boxing practice, we have to eat and drink, wear clothes, buy equipment, and rent venues, so where does the money come from?

Some people earn more money for themselves or their families, but this does not represent the majority of people and is not considered sustainable. The ancients said that the poor are rich and martial, and they are honest and do not deceive. Tai Chi must earn its own money in order to be sustainable.

The ancients practiced martial arts, could open a dart game, be a bodyguard, and make money with martial arts to raise martial arts. At the time, it was considered a sustainable solution. Now that these industries have declined, what should we do? Even if we find a way now, we must have a sense of crisis and a sense of advancement, constantly adjust or change, and adapt to the characteristics of the times, so as to achieve sustainable development.

We must change the mode of operation of Taijiquan, find a viable profit model, and obtain the necessary funds for development from it, in order to get the impetus for sustainable development and growth. In other words, Tai Chi must support itself.

Referring to other similar sports, the most common profit model is the training fee. For general martial arts gyms, such as taekwondo, fencing, kendo, etc., the cost of entering the gym for entry-level training is about 10 yuan an hour or more. Coupled with the cost of competitions, protective gear, upgrades, etc., it costs hundreds of yuan per year, which is still entry-level training.

This part of the cost, as long as the coach and the gym can make a living from it. We, the elite of the industry, don't have to compete with first-line coaches at all. The expenses we need to support ourselves can be earned through some high-end, large-scale activities. For example, advanced coach training courses, such as level authority certification, such as organizing large-scale competitions or exchanges, etc. ”

Tian Chuan concluded that the six principles of "openness, tolerance, moderation, harmony, innovation, and continuity" may bring a different future to Taijiquan. This is just my personal opinion, please criticize and correct the seniors. ”

At this time, Chen Yue stood up and said, "When it comes to openness and inclusiveness, our Chen clan is probably the most closed among all schools. Tagawa's statement refreshed me, and I wanted to go back and discuss it with a few clan elders. I wonder if Oda has a copy of his speech, give me a copy?"

Tagawa said: "I said it temporarily, and there is no draft. I'll go back tonight and sort it out. ”

At this time, Liu Meiting held up a small tape recorder the size of a palm and said: "I recorded it, and I will find someone to sort it out and hand it over to the organizing committee in a while." Which senior needs it, go to the organizing committee tomorrow to get it. ”

None of the people present here today, including Tagawa himself, could have imagined that today's impromptu speech would later be hailed as the guiding program for the development of Taijiquan and would be called the "Guangping Speech." The recording of this speech, the sketch of "Tai Chi Tea", and the book "Tai Chi Tuishou Techniques" written by Tian Chuan in the future are collectively known as the "Three Treasures" of Tian Style Taijiquan, but the originals are all kept in the hands of Yang Shi's successors, and they have become a matter of martial arts.
