Chapter 19: The Love of California Teenagers [Asking for Recommendation Votes!
California in early October was foggy. Pen @ fun @ pavilion wWw. ļ½ļ½ļ½Uļ½Eć ļ½ļ½ļ½ļ½
The weather turned cooler, and the fog in the early morning could not be dispersed by noon.
Because of the large temperature difference between day and night, California fruits are sweet and delicious. However, just like China's new (harmonious) frontier, the people who live here have to change their clothes all day long to adapt to the weather.
Naylor is eleven years old and lives in Susanville, Larsen County, California.
In the past month, a toy has become popular in California. Made of plastic, the battery is installed, and there is a small green screen on the top, and four arrow keys and two round operation buttons below.
When the grocery store first started, it wasn't very popular. It's made of plastic, like the toys in the store, but it's not flashy and appealing at all.
However, after a few days, people kept buying this simple-looking toy, young and old, of all ages. It didn't take long for all these strange-looking plastic toys to be sold.
The owner of the grocery store was curious, and after careful inquiry, he learned that it was a so-called video game console.
He also wondered, shouldn't video games have been buried in the ground years ago?
The people who came to buy it were a little upset to hear that the boss had pulled this machine with the garbage of the previous Atari. He deliberately let the boss look at the place where the screen was above. The boss looked along the buyer's finger and saw black dots and squares of different shapes, which kept falling according to the player's operation.
"Isn't this thing fun?"
"Of course it's fun!"
The boss was a little suspicious, knowing that the toys sold in the grocery store. Whether it is made in the state, the United States, or imported from abroad, it is all shoddy and low-priced gadgets. The accuracy is very poor, very rough, and often after a few hours of play, it is scrapped.
If it weren't for the boss's strong physique, maybe how many people would complain about the quality problem!
He hadn't seen a game like a block machine before, and he wasn't interested in it, but since the buyers said it was good, he would go into more.
This thing is twenty dollars a piece, the purchase price is fifteen dollars, and selling one makes five dollars, so there's no reason why you shouldn't make money.
ā¦ā¦
When Neller went out to play, he saw the children around him showing off, holding a block machine, pressing it back and forth.
He went over to watch, looked at the heat in his eyes, and wanted to borrow it to play, but the little friend couldn't shake him. Naylor was not angry, he was used to it.
It's not that Neller is withdrawn, it's that these friends in the neighborhood always don't like to play with him, and slowly he doesn't want to put his hot face on their cold ass.
However, he is not the most unlucky, the most unfortunate guy, although someone plays with him, everyone bullies him. When he was in school, he was always stuffed with dirty things in his closet, and Neller had heard that someone had urinated on him.
Rather than being treated like that, it's better to play alone.
As for why others ignore Naylor. Neller probably understands that it's probably because he always gets an A in the test.
In the eyes of those people, not taking an E, not taking an F is a mistake, and you can't play with them.
Neller went home and told his parents that he didn't want to take the exam well and wanted to take E and F, but his father, who was a local lawyer, scolded him severely, saying that he was going to be like those fools.
If you want to live a good life in the future, if you don't study hard, you think about how to play all day long.
Don't look at those kids, now they take E and F one by one, as if they are very free. Waiting for them to graduate from high school, not even go to college, and only deserve to work in a fast food restaurant with those black (harmonious) ghosts, living above and below the food and clothing line, that is hell on earth, my child.
Neller didn't think there was anything wrong with working in a fast food restaurant, not only to eat fast food every day, but also to get tips.
However, he wisely did not say it, and it would not end well if he had doubts about his father.
With such a family, Neller naturally does not have any pocket money.
Originally, his father thought that he didn't study hard, and it would be even worse if he knew that he wanted money to buy toys.
So, Naylor took advantage of the holidays to find a job delivering newspapers.
A week's worth of newspapers for one is 100 cents, and 20 for twenty.
Don't think it's easy to send twenty, the subscribers are scattered, Nayler set off before dawn, and the sun rises high and hasn't finished delivering.
Presumably, this is why Naylor was able to find this newspaper delivery job so easily.
On the first day of work, I felt that it was fresh and nothing, and on the third day, I felt a little boring.
On the fifth day, Neller began to feel that what his father said was right, and that studying hard is the right way, and if he doesn't study well, he will indeed be better off than dead in the future.
After a week on the job, Neller, who was given twenty dollars, cherished it extraordinarily. It was the first time he had taken so much money, the first time he had earned it through his hard work.
When I went to the grocery store for twenty dollars and looked for that plastic toy, I didn't find it. The boss said that it was out of sale and that it would take some time to arrive.
Neller lowered his head in disappointment, and immediately he raised his head again and said to the boss, then I want to book one.
Every day for the next day, Neller would come to the grocery store to order something, and those who didn't know it thought that he had become a child (harmony) worker here.
"Uncle Tyson, is the console here today?" asked Neller as he pushed open the door of the grocery store, full of hope.
The grocery store owner was used to seeing Neller come every day and return disappointed, but it did arrive today, he smiled and stretched out his hand, pointed to the inside and said, "It's over there, take it yourself." ā
"Really?" Neller was surprised at first, then sprang over in three steps and two steps.
Boss Tyson looked at his reckless appearance and wanted to remind him not to break anything else. However, when he thought about it, his father was a lawyer, and if he broke it, he would definitely be able to afford it.
It's just that you have to be careful when you go to ask for money, if you are bitten back, it is not cost-effective to blackmail a sum of money.
In America, lawyers are feared, but no one likes them.
Although the social status is high, it is similar to that of the litigators of ancient China. In fact, there are many people in the United States who think that lawyers are lawyers.
No matter who it is, whether the lawsuit is won or not, a layer of skin must be removed.
"Be careful......" Tyson said.
Neller was very obedient, and since the boss said it, he stopped running and walked slowly to the counter where the water game machine was placed. Pick up the hydro game machine, touch the wood coated with tung oil, and admire the patterns inside the glass.
The hydro game console he saw that day had nothing on the back. He thought it was the same, but when he turned it over, he saw a big red icon with letters written "WANHU" in a rectangular frame.
Below the "WANHU" logo is a detailed inscription, including the date of production, the address of production.
When he saw "China", he was a little puzzled, where is this?
Neller turned the globe in the grocery store and discovered that it was made on the other side of the ocean.
"You like it a lot?" Tyson asked.
"Hmm. Neller nodded.
"Are you sure you want it, there's even better!" Tyson said mysteriously, pulling out a new box from the counter.
Lawyers have money, and Tyson just wants to make more money.
Neller wanted to get his hands on the cube machine right away, but when he heard the shopkeeper's seductive accent, he stared at the box with the red "WANHU" logo as if he was about to penetrate the box.
The smile on Tyson's face is getting thicker and thicker, and he is hooked!
He opened the box, took out the machine inside, and pressed the battery as he said, "This looks a lot like the cube machine you have, right!
In a dimly lit shop, you can't see the block machine's screen clearly.
"Smack!" the boss pushed the switch, and the screen of the cube machine suddenly lit up, and irregular lights sprinkled on the screen,
There is still such a block machine!?
"I'm going to buy it!" Neller loved more and more as he looked at it, and a hot fire appeared in his eyes.
"Thirty dollars!"
"Why is it ten dollars more expensive?"
"Because it can play in the dark. Do you want it? If you don't want me, I'll sell it to someone else!"
Neller gritted his teeth, his face hideous, "Yes!"
But where does the money come from?
He worried.
