One of the problems with this method of filming is that it needs to be shot twice, and the actor has to perform once on the set, then go back to the motion capture studio to perform again, and finally compose it. During the filming of Pirates of the Caribbean 2, the cast was reluctant to go back to the studio to do it all over again, and the damp and dark environment on set didn't allow the motion capture system to function properly.

ILM was tasked with developing iMoCap, a motion capture system that could be shot directly on set. The system can complete motion capture on set with just a few ordinary HD cameras, without being disturbed by the on-set light, and can also obtain lighting references through gray capture costumes.

There are two main types of robots in "Future Apocalypse", one is a heavy combat robot, whose movements are relatively bulky, and can be completed through CG, and the other is a light robot, which is about the same size as a real person, and can do all kinds of flexible movements, and even fighting, to achieve this effect can only be completed through motion capture.
