In the creation of Peking Opera scripts, there are too many top literati, too many famous ministers and gentry, and too many worldly masters involved in the creation of Peking Opera scripts. It's a pity that in the past 100 years, the protection and excavation of it have not been enough, and less than one or two have been handed down.
In recent years, Peking Opera has become more and more unable to keep up with the changes of the times, and there are fewer and fewer people who like to listen to opera. For example, in the traditional drama "Hitting the Golden Branch", if you focus on the plot, then it is an ethical and moral drama, but if it is placed in the background of the story, it is a court political drama, but unfortunately, no one has thought of trying to play it from a different angle.
Traditional Peking Opera is too one-sided, too scripted, always with a century-old unchanged face to the audience, you sing together, old opera fans will know what your next sentence is, there is no new play, who wants to watch it for the longest?
The origin and maturity of traditional Peking Opera in the Qing Dynasty, which is closely related to the political and cultural environment at that time, in a sense, traditional Peking Opera is in line with the political needs of the time, Hu Anbei's vision is to explore more at the source, re-examine the traditional repertoire from a relatively objective perspective today, and use new techniques and expressions to make the traditional repertoire glow with a different charm. That's why he came to talk to me.
I completely agree with Juan Bei's idea, although I am not a fan of drama, but I am very familiar with the background stories of many dramas, especially the falsification of real history by the creators of that era. And what he is interested in is the dusty past hidden in the corners of history, and there are genealogical records of more than ten generations of the Chang family who have spared no effort and have been working all year round, which can make some useful supplements.
Once a few of us enter the small whirlpool of history, we quickly forget the passage of time.
