Chapter 65: The Engraver (A)
Sometimes I also wonder why he left such a deep impression on my heart? Chang Ye's death was in the autumn of 2005, when I had already gone to Chongqing, and I knew that the news was in the summer of 2007, when I met Lao Gu when I returned to Beijing to do business. Pen @ fun @ pavilion wWw. ļ½ļ½ļ½Uļ½Eć infoNo one knew where Chang Ye was buried, so I gave up the idea of worshipping. Later, I went to the old house of Chang Ye of Hufang Bridge, and there was a big lock on the door, which was rusty and mottled. The surrounding area has begun to be demolished, and it is estimated that this small courtyard, which carries too many wonderful feelings for me, will also disappear. But two thousand years ago, I was here and Chang Ye for two days of tea and night talk, and every word was imprinted in my heart and lingered. Sometimes, there are even strange feelings, especially after I was also tormented by insomnia and nightmares in 05 years, this feeling became more and more intense, as if the stories that Chang Ye told me about his ghosts and gods were the ones I had experienced, real and memorable.
In the story of the second volume of "The Tomb in the Courtyard", Chang Ye is not a character with a lot of pen and ink, but the communication with him is the key to unlocking a series of secrets, although I didn't know it at the time. But I know that Chang Ye's bizarre experience is very limited, and many stories have nothing to do with the main story, so I will pass it over. When the second volume was almost serialized, several book friends and the prototype characters in the story contacted me, they actually had a strong interest in Chang Ye, hoping that I could complete Chang Ye's story, and I also contacted the old Gu and Xiao Shi of the original company who had intersected with Chang Ye, and collected some materials that I didn't know, so I had a plan to write a special chapter of the Admiral of the Nine Gates, thank you again for your attention, your curiosity is making Chang Ye, the real legend in my heart, resurrect at the end of the pen. After all, I'm not a Chang Master, and I don't know the connections between the stories, so I'm only responsible for telling them, and for the sake of my own speculation, allow me to write this part in the first person.
The first engraver
My surname is Chang, and I was born in the most turbulent era in China, the year the Japanese occupied Beijing, because of my birth, my parents gave up and fled south, and I did not feel the joy of being born under the roots of the imperial city since I was a child. My family is quite mysterious, and although I have no official positions in all dynasties, I am inextricably linked with the royal family and important ministers from the genealogy. When the Qing Dynasty was dying, the great-ancestor was still the imperial guard. This may also be the reason why the Japanese did not embarrass my family later. As a child, I had not been to school for a day, and it was all taught by my father and two uncles, and I came to know that our family was famous in history but not in the history books. Very early, I knew that among the five surnames of Wuzhu, there was our branch, and this branch had nothing to do with feng shui, funeral, and divination, and we were in charge of the ghost road. In China, every change of dynasty is accompanied by bloody rain. Who can sleep peacefully on the dragon throne where thousands of corpses are tired? And the bloody atrocities in the court made everyone in power pay homage to the Chang family and ask for peace. But by the time I became a family learner and was able to become a teacher, I was liberated from another day.
In the past 40 years, my father, third uncle, fourth uncle and I have all had a job serving the people, and the family craftsmanship has not been wasted. But it's easy to say, in fact, my fourth uncle disappeared in the excavation of Dingling in 56 years, and my father and third uncle died because of the strange incident in the Beijing subway in the early 70s. After so many years, there are really a lot of strange things, some of which can never be said, so I have to pick up a few things that can be said and impressed, and use them as talking points at the wine table and dinner.
My mother left early, and after my father passed away in the seventies, he left the small courtyard of the ancestral Hufang Bridge to me. Three roads north of the courtyard, there lives a Mr. Liang, who is two or three years older than me, and is one of the most famous carvers in China. Mr. Liang studied in Paris in his early years, the well-known National Academy of Arts, studied oil painting, returned to China in the fifties, and taught at a central art academy. Later, the leader found that this seal was considered four old, and it was not allowed to be made, so Mr. Liang began to carve all kinds of animals and insects that could be seen, and this moment was more than ten years. Rehabilitated, Mr. Liang returned to Beijing, but after ten years of storms, his wife was separated, things were wrong, Mr. Liang was alone, his mind was very light, he hung a professor title in the original school, and he didn't go to class much, so he took carving as his companion.
In order to carve insects, Mr. Liang ran all over the wilderness in the suburbs of Beijing, and some of the insects he caught were made into specimens, and some of them were kept at home, making it look like a museum, so that the children in the vicinity were willing to run to him after school. Mr. Liang and I often met in teahouses and bathhouses, and we also went to his carved hut to taste tea. Mr. Liang's carving works are not big, most of them can be held in the hand to play, but to say the characteristics, one is expressive, between the square inches, every minute is complete, quiet like spring sleep, moving is fluttering wings, I am not proficient in carving, but I also know that the ancient people are afraid of being unsurpassed. The second is that the material is good, the raw materials of the carved insects, the jade Tianhuang, the chicken blood Nanhong have, the characteristics of the corresponding insects choose the stone, but Mr. Liang cited the masterpiece, in my opinion, the quality of the material is unusual, mostly Qin material. The so-called Qin material refers to the old material that has been buried in the tomb for hundreds or thousands of years, including blood, corpse, soil, oil and so on. Once I was taking a bath in the bathhouse with Mr. Liang, chatting about this material, Mr. Liang told me that the reason why I carved insects with Qin material was because the Qin material itself had been buried for a long time, and with spirituality, I took some time to feel it, and I knew what kind of insect was more expressive to use it to carve. But nowadays, this old material is becoming more and more difficult to find, and it is even more necessary to try your luck with the material, and the time spent on finding the material is much more than looking for insects. I later learned that Mr. Liang received a lot of old jade pieces at a high price, re-polished them into materials, and then carved them, which cost a lot of money, and of course the works became less and less. However, Mr. Liang's extreme artistic pursuit, I am still faintly uneasy in my heart.
In the spring of '92, I heard the news that Mr. Liang had a sudden emergency and died with a carving knife, and I sighed for a long time about it. Later, Mr. Liang's works went from unknown to sky-high prices, and he became famous for a while, which is probably what he didn't expect before.
In July, the Cao team of the Criminal Police Brigade suddenly came to my house to look for me. A busy person like him must have a case that can't be solved, and this case is still full of weirdness, so he will appear at the door. But what I didn't expect was that this time he came to have something to do with Mr. Liang's death. The relationship between Team Cao and my family began when he joined the Criminal Police Brigade in the late 70s, when his master was Captain Jiang Yuntian. Because of the matter of digging the sea eye well under the Beijing subway, my father and third uncle did not come back, Jiang Tianyun is the person in charge of the headquarters, and he also invited our father and son to go to the scene. Over the years, we have moved around a lot, and I have been involved in many cases, but those who are in danger have been stopped by the Jiang team. The Cao team was the bridge of communication between me and the team at that time, and in 88 years, he became the captain of the brigade, and finally took over the master's class, and logically, I became his adviser who did not spend money, but I admit that one is willing to fight and one is willing to suffer, who makes me curious, and carries the ancestral name of a nine-gate admiral?
