However, for any new car company, if it does not have a certain awareness of the market, it is very likely that it will be cold in the market if it rashly launches a new model. This is often referred to as the conceptual design stage in the industry. In this stage, three steps can be divided, namely: general layout, modeling design, and making clay model.
The overall arrangement is the overall design scheme of the car, including the layout of the vehicle compartment and the driver's seat, the layout of the engine, clutch and gearbox, the transmission shaft, the frame, the load-bearing chassis, the front and rear suspension, the brake system, the fuel tank, the trunk and so on.
After the general layout sketch is designed, it is time to design the shape on its determined basic dimensions, that is, to put a beautiful coat on a pile of exposed parts.
At this time, on the basis of the overall layout sketch, the general designer will make a simple manual drawing according to the needs of the style, and modify it at any time to complete the model modeling sketch that needs to be made.
When the sketch of the modeling design is completed and the opinions of all parties are basically satisfied, it will be converted into a computer 3D model according to the style of the sketch, and then the model will be 3D printed, or the data will be entered into a 5-axis milling machine to mill out the clay model.
The clay model or 3D printed model will be smaller than the size of the original design, and it is generally manufactured according to the scale of 1:5.
Subsequently, the clay model was reviewed, and after the aesthetics, technology, structure and other aspects were reviewed, there were no problems, and then the model was made at 1:1 scale.
