Chapter 164: The Death of Wormtail

The fire burned brighter and brighter in the hollow, and the red-black flames ran down the slope from the top to the bottom, from the outermost side of the edge to the center, devouring everything it touched.

The leaves and the remains of the eight-eyed spider were burned and scattered, like a gate to hell slowly opening. There was a loud, piercing scream from inside the fire pit, and in order to prevent Evan from returning to Aragog, a large number of eight-eyed giant spiders had gathered inside, and they were fleeing in all directions in despair.

Evan stood on the edge of the fire pit and watched it all coldly.

The image in front of him touched his heart greatly, the scorching heat, the burnt smell of burning flesh and blood, and the deathbed wails of the spiders, as if they came from the depths of hell, made his legs tremble.

However, Aven's right hand holding the wand was extremely steady, and from time to time it emitted red rays of light, knocking down the eight-eyed giant spider that was trying to escape from the fire pit.

Peter Pettigrew, who was on the side, opened his mouth wide and looked at Evan dumbfounded, as if he wanted to say something, hesitated for a long time, and said nothing.

As for Aven, he had no thought of resisting now.

The eight-eyed spiders in the hollow who had not been burned to death looked at the human boy above in horror, and countless pairs of eyes stared at him, as if they wanted to imprint Evan's appearance into the depths of their souls. From today onwards, except for the basilisk, the natural predator, Evan is destined to be a nightmare for all eight-eyed giant spiders.

They kept retreating, gathering towards the center of the hollow.

Click, click

Evan heard Aragog's voice coming from the depths of the lair, and the remaining eight-eyed spiders began to churn through the leaves and dirt, using a barrier to keep the flames out.

The flames in the hollow were too strong for Evan to know if they would succeed.

He didn't have time to look any longer, and when he heard Aragog's call, more eight-eyed spiders emerged from the Forbidden Forest, brandishing sharp claws, and rushed towards him desperately, and he hurriedly left with Peter Pettigrew.

The eight-eyed spiders that appeared later followed closely behind the two of them, although their size was much smaller than the eight-eyed giant spiders in the hollow fire pit, but the power of those sharp claws was exactly the same, and if they were accidentally knocked down, they would either die or be injured.

From time to time, Aven's wand glowed, knocking the approaching spiders into the air, and the remaining mana was quickly depleted.

But spiders are emerging from all directions, as if there is no end.

Peter Pettigrew screamed, his expression extremely frightened, blood and sweat almost soaking through his robes, and the wounds that had begun to coagulate began to crack and ooze blood again. He wanted to do something, but he didn't dare to move, not even to speak, for fear of destroying the magic that Evan had cast on him.

If that were the case, the consequences would be unimaginable.

After about five minutes, Evan couldn't hold on, even if he killed more spiders, there were too many of them. He walked forward a little further, then gasped and leaned heavily against the trunk of an oak tree.

The faint glow at the end of the wand slowly dissipated, and the surroundings were plunged into endless darkness.

"Help me, I feel like I've been bitten by a spider, save me, I don't want to die!" Peter Pettigrew screamed.

By starlight, Evan seemed to see an eight-eyed spider the size of Peter Pettigrew lying on his right leg, tearing at his flesh with its gray-black claws, and dragging him backwards.

Peter Pettigrew wrapped his arms tightly around the tree trunk beside him, and with a click, the eight-eyed spider behind him snapped off his right leg, leaving a large lump of flesh and an unpleasant chewing sound from his mouth.

Smelling the blood, the other approaching eight-eyed spiders became even more frantic.

Another spider pounced on Peter Pettigrew, the sight was so terrifying that Evan hurriedly stretched out his wand to save him.

But there was no magic at all, and as he recited the incantation, his wand glowed red, and then disappeared like a candle blown out by the wind.

"Help me, save me, please" seems to look back, and Peter Pettigrew screaming and crying louder and louder.

He struggled, cried, pleaded, his face was full of tears, he regretted that if this was what would happen to him, he would not betray James and Lily by saying anything, that the promises and great power he had received from Voldemort were useless.

Unable to hear Peter Pettigrew's screams, Evan closed his eyes.

Perhaps this was the end of the story, when suddenly, a high-pitched voice rang out, and a dazzling light lit up the entire woods.

Evan opened his eyes in surprise to see that he had been in the old car he had ridden in before school started last year, and Mr. Weasley's car rumbled over the path.

The headlights flickered and the horns screamed, knocking the spiders aside.

Several spiders were knocked to the ground, and countless long legs danced in the air. With a screeching sound, the car stopped in front of Aven, and the door slammed open.

Without thinking about it, Evan jumped up, and the already dry magic reappeared, and his wand emitted two red rays in succession, knocking himself and the spider next to Peter Pettigrew away, and he grabbed Peter Pettigrew's left hand and dragged him towards the front seat of the car.

They had barely taken two steps forward when the eight-eyed spider that had bitten Peter Pettigrew's right leg off suddenly burst out of the shadows, its claws biting Peter again, and its front legs wrapped around him, hugging him tightly.

Evan and the Eight-Eyed Spider, the two of them began a power disparity on Peter Pettigrew's body.

As for Peter Pettigrew, he had already fainted.

The muscles in his face were still convincing spasmally because of the pain.

With difficulty, Evan pulled out his wand and aimed it at the spider behind Peter Pettigrew, and tried several times to unsuccessfully cast the spell.

Suddenly, Peter Pettigrew woke up again. His pupils dilated in fear, and his gaze slipped away from Evan's face as he watched more and more of the eight-eyed spiders around him, gradually surrounding, ready to attack himself and Evan.

Looking at the determined expression on the boy's face, Peter Pettigrew once again remembered Sirius Black from his school days, his former best friend.

Blake had just said that if he hadn't betrayed James and Lily to Voldemort, he would have been willing to die for himself.

If Blake were here, he would be like Aven, holding on to himself and not letting go, right?

How good would it be if he hadn't betrayed James and Lily back then?

Peter Pettigrew closed his eyes, tears streaming back down, a flash of regret and determination on his face distorted by pain.

The next second, he jerked free of Aven, and he watched as the boy flew straight backwards into the car because of the force he had used too much.

Peter Pettigrew, on the other hand, with a little repentance in his heart, was dragged by the spider behind him to the eight-eyed giant spider swarm.

The car's engine roared, and it set off with Aven, knocking down more spiders as they approached.

Through the fouled window, Evan saw Peter Pettigrew disappear.

The spiders let out a loud clatter of triumph, and he knew what it meant, the worm's tail was dead! )
