226. Raid

The town of Walker is one of the few places around Aaron City that still has a rural feel.

People outside of Aaron have long wondered why it hasn't grown with the city, but only Aaron's natives know that it's more than just a town for them.

Here is their past.

In the past 50 years, Aaron's development has been so fast that it is suffocating, and it is enough to make people forget many things, such as the city of Aaron was once an ordinary place, not full of progress and economy, maybe not so civilized, but people can't help but want to remember.

This town is a tombstone they erected for themselves in memory of the long-dead old Aaron.

Many old people know what this village means to the city of Aaron.

But they don't know what kind of dark secrets are hidden here, and they don't know that this is one of the reasons why Aaron has grown rapidly in the past 50 years.

Latona disguised herself into a normal bar.

She nodded to the bartender and walked behind the counter door.

Few of Aaron's elites come to this calm town because they don't want to break the tranquility of the place, let alone bring the hustle and bustle of the city here.

This is the atmosphere that the Forerunner Institute has created over the years, and it is clear that this atmosphere is extremely conducive to them hiding themselves.

Latona followed the electrically powered teleporter to the underground research facility.

"Ms. Latona. ”

"Ma'am. ”

"Minister. ”

Passers-by saluted her.

Although Garrett calls her an assistant, she is actually one of the few institute executives with less power than Garrett.

But this is meaningless, because when a person's immediate boss is Garrett, whether you are a low-level employee or the head of the department, it is a consumable resource in Garrett's eyes.

In this institute, no one except Garrett has real power.

Latona, who had just left the director's office, grabbed a researcher by the hand.

She asked:

"Where's the director?"

As she asked the question, Latona's left hand was clutching something tightly.

"Ma'am, the director disappeared yesterday, and as you know, no one can know his whereabouts. ”

Latona shook her head, these ordinary researchers still know about Garrett's whereabouts, because you need to know where a person is in order to avoid him.

Latona walked to the HR department:

"Retrieve the director's whereabouts. ”

"Ms. Latona, Mr. Director left the Institute yesterday afternoon at 15:23 on the grounds that he was distracted. ”

If the directors of other institutes wanted to go out, they had to find an excuse, but Garrett was an exception, and even if the people above retrieved his action records, they would not be annoyed by this.

Because they know that if you need to get a madman to do things for you, you have to make a certain amount of compromise.

According to the plan, Latona would signal Hervin directly if Latona confirmed that Garrett was in the institute, but it looked like Mr. Garrett was out shopping.

Latona and Hervin had already anticipated this possibility, so they had a backup plan.

Hervin will watch all the entrances, and she will take advantage of this opportunity to find out the secret of Garrett's resurrection.

She'd heard about it, about Garrett's past.

The ability to come back from the dead didn't come out of nowhere, he had previously been the director of another research institute, and in an accident, the entire members of the research institute, as well as his family, lost their lives.

He was the only survivor, though Latona felt that was a misnomer, as it seemed as if his sanity had been with his family for long.

The ruins that no one knows about.

But Latona was convinced, and there was evidence that the building beneath her feet contained information about Garrett's previous research, and if she could find it, perhaps Hervin would be able to figure out an easy solution to him.

Latona looked around at the crowd around her, most of them going about their job with blank faces, and the security guards were on standby, not letting their guard down, even if it was impossible for anyone to break into the institute.

Because every time the research institute is looked at, it will be a terrible disaster, precious data leaks, experimental creatures escape, countless excellent security personnel and researchers die, for the Precursor Institute, it will be an unbearable loss.

Like this time.

Maybe today is the Day of Atonement.

Latona walked over to Garrett's room.

As head of the Research Department, Latona has every right to enter this room, but to keep a record.

Unless you have a valid reason

She glanced at the surrounding promenade with several security guards patrolling the surrounding promenade.

Latona says:

"I applied to enter the director's private room on the grounds that there was an urgent message to report to the director, and I needed to investigate the information in his room to find out his whereabouts. ”

The security personnel glanced at each other and lifted the lockdown of Garrett's room:

"Permission to enter, Ms. Latona. ”

She walked into the room.

The room was neat and clean, not like a middle-aged man's room living alone, whether it was the reports on the shelves, the set of clothes in the cabinet, and the dolls belonging to the girls on the table were all in order.

It's as if no one has ever touched these things.

Latona glanced at the closed door behind her and crept over to her desk.

As far as she knew, Garrett would occasionally conduct experiments alone with some special device, and if Latona's judgment was correct, it was most likely something about his previous research.

He is still continuing his research.

Latona put on her gloves and quickly rummaged through the papers on her bookshelves, each sheet she looked at for a second or two before she let go.

However, no matter how much Latona searched, she was unable to find any information related to his past research.

Also, he shouldn't be placed in a place that is too obvious.

Latona was about to continue her search when the door was suddenly pushed open.

Her left hand twitched slightly.

"What are you doing here?
