Chapter 394: Snape's Defence Against the Dark Arts class
The first time school started, the heat was taken away by someone, and most of the students' attention was on the glamorous new "nurse".
Haven't fully adjusted from holiday life yet.
However, the next day, Snape's Defence Against the Dark Arts class had to be taken seriously.
For Year 6 students, the first day is given a new schedule by the corresponding Dean.
In contrast to Professor McGonagall's meticulous distribution and advice for each student.
Snape simply split the timetable into a pile by grade and placed it on his desk for students to pick up.
The Defense Against the Dark Arts class is a relatively special course.
Especially in a specific environment.
Attendance at refresher courses is compulsory for all students in the sixth grade.
If it's a peaceful day, if you don't have the intention of becoming an Auror, you can't do it.
In the classroom, Snape had been waiting for him for a long time.
The corner of this classroom is branded with his own personality traits. The curtains were drawn tightly, except for the faint glow of the candles, which was dimmer than usual. There are some pictures on the walls that were not there before, many of which depict people in pain, hideous wounds, and bizarre twisted body parts.
After the students sat down in turn, no one spoke, and they all turned their heads to look at the eerie pictures on the wall.
Pansy shuddered as she clutched her shoulders, the images looked rather horrible.
Malfoy just stared blankly at the dark stone wall, waiting for Snape to appear.
In fact, for him now, taking any course is a waste of time.
"I haven't told you to take out the books yet. Snape walked abruptly, closing the classroom door and walking to the back of the podium to face the class. Hermione quickly tossed her copy of Encounter with the Faceless Monster back into her bag and tucked it under her chair. "I have something to say to you, and I want your attention to be very focused. β
His dark eyes swept over the upturned faces, lingering on Harry Potter's face for a little longer than the others.
"So far, you've probably had five different teachers for this course. β
"Needless to say, these teachers have their own teaching methods and teaching priorities. In this chaotic situation, I am amazed that so many of you have barely passed this course. LS Exam. β
"At Professor McGonagall's beheaving, some of those who didn't meet the requirements entered the class, and I hope you will cherish this opportunity. His gloomy gaze swept over several of the students.
Snape stepped off the podium and walked around the classroom, his voice lowered. In order to be able to see him, the classmates stretched their necks one by one.
Malfoy leaned casually on the back of the seat and yawned.
His energy should be focused on more important things.
"The dark arts," Snape said, "are varied, varied, varied, and never-ending. Fighting them is like fighting a multi-headed monster, having just cut off one head, and immediately a new one emerges, more ferocious and cunning than the original. What you are dealing with is something unpredictable and indestructible. β
Rather than the disgust and fear of ordinary people, Snape seemed to regard it as an object of admiration.
"Therefore, your defenses," Snape said with a slight increase in his voice, "must be as nimble and innovative as the dark arts you need to deal with. The drawings," he pointed to as he walked, "vividly depicted the victims, say, under the Piercing Spell," (he waved his hand at a witch who was clearly screaming in pain), "felt a kiss from a Dementor," (a wizard curled up in a corner, his eyes lost), "or being assaulted by a corpse," (a trail of blood on the ground).
"All the Dementors are missing. Ron's voice was small, but everyone around him heard it.
When Malfoy heard this, he quickly showed an unpredictable smile, and then quickly disappeared.
"Mr. Weasley, you seem to have a problem with my teaching. β
Even if Ron had lowered his voice low enough.
However, it was discovered by Snape.
"Gryffindor deducted ten points, and then, Mr. Weasley, told me what to do with the Dementors. β
"The Patronus Charm can push them back. Ron said weakly
He still knows that.
There was no bright answer. Snape said that this was obviously difficult, because it was the only one that was practical.
ββ¦β¦ I think you're still new to the use of silent spells. What's the benefit of a silent spell?"
Hermione immediately raised her hand. Snape glanced at the class unhurriedly, and seeing that there was no other choice, he said stiffly, "GoodβMiss Granger?"
"The opponent doesn't know what magic you're going to do," Hermione said, "and that gives you a momentary advantage. β
"This answer was copied from Standard Spells, Level 6 as is," Snape said dismissively, "but it's mostly correct. Yes, casting a spell without pronouncing it aloud can achieve a surprising effect. Of course, not all wizards can do this. It takes a lot of concentration and willpower, and some people can't.
"This is a more talent-testing spell-casting technique. β
"Very helpful for your future. β
"Now you are divided into groups of two," continued Snape, "one tries to cast a curse on the other, but don't say it out loud. The other tried to repel the curse, but was also silent. Let's go. β
The Defence Against the Dark Arts classrooms are much larger than the others, with plenty of empty space.
Pansy tried to cast some small curses on Malfoy, but they didn't work, or she unconsciously pronounced the spells.
She had a bitter face, a little depressed.
"Try to concentrate. Malfoy spoke
"Normal magic requires gestures and spells as a medium, but now you just have to focus on gestures. β
"Whether it's as an attacking side or as a defensive side, you need to master the skills, the attacking side can use the silent spell to gain an advantage, although it may be less powerful, but it is better to be hidden, and the defending side, although you don't have to take the initiative and don't have to deliberately use the silent spell to defend, but you also need to observe the opponent's behavior......" Malfoy emphasized the importance of this skill.
"Armor!" suddenly a loud shout came from the classroom.
Many of the students were drawn to see Snape lose his balance and hit a table.
Soon, the man struggled to his feet.
Struggling to gain a foothold, his face full of anger.
"Do you remember when I told you we were practicing the Silent Spell, Potter?"
"Yes. Harry said stiffly.
"Remember, sir. β
"You don't need to call me 'sir,' Professor. β
Before he could react, the sentence had already blurted out. Several of her classmates gasped in surprise, including Hermione. Behind Snape, however, Ron and several of his roommates had appreciative smiles on their faces.
They were quite encouraging of Harry's rebellion.
"Confinement, Saturday night, in my office. "I won't allow anyone to be rude to me, Potter...... Even if it's a savior. β
There were a few laughs from several of the Slytherin students.
"Just like just now, when you encounter danger, you don't have to think about what silent spell to use, especially if you are not skilled. Malfoy suddenly whispered, in a voice that Pansy could just hear.
"Just now, Mr. Potter felt threatened, and he decisively gave our Dean a disarming charm, which was the right thing to do. β
"Yes......" Pansy dragged out a long tail and nodded, unable to answer.
She really wasn't interested in the course.
