A very serious question!
I'm thinking about a very serious question.
You say, is it really good to write food essays in a rigorous style?
Recently, I've been reading other food texts to study, and I found that others are advancing rapidly, with an average speed of two or three chapters, and constantly throwing out various ingredients one after another, for the source of the ingredients, acquisition, processing, and cooking methods, they can all be saved.
So I wondered, was it wrong for me to go the wrong way? Shouldn't I write so rigorously? Should I also throw out all kinds of ingredients quickly?
Do you think that the current rhythm, this kind of writing, can be written like this?
I don't feel any procrastination myself, I just think that the rigorous style of writing is really laborious, there are many things to think about, some things must be reasonably connected, some things must also have reasonable explanations, and some unexpected plots have to be interspersed in them, so that it is not boring to read, there are too many concerns, it is very difficult to write, and it will be very slow to write.
The point is that I write in a rigorous style, and there will inevitably be explanatory paragraphs in the middle, although I rack my brains to try to write these paragraphs as interestingly as possible, and I don't want to read them too dullly, but after all, it will make book friends who are used to reading fast food articles feel wet.
In fact, before writing this book, I didn't want to write this book as a cool text, I wanted to write a little more life, giving people a faint sense of leisure, occasionally interspersed with some wild excitement and unrestrained as a life spice.
Think about it, an ordinary person who has no other skills except a little cooking skills, even if he has a golden finger that can cross the other world, what can he do? He is a master who likes to make a fortune in a muffled voice, and he has no ambition or pursuit, he is completely an ordinary person who is a little rich and peaceful, and the other world is actually a dispensable thing for him, and it is best to make some money through the other world to adjust his life! Without the other world, he also has to live. A comfortable and secure life is what he is pursuing.
Therefore, in the early stage of this book, I focused on the small shop of the protagonist, and in the later stage, when the protagonist grows up, broadens his horizons, and is not satisfied with the status quo, that is the time when the wilderness is the mainstay.
Therefore, the current rhythm is: the protagonist discovers new ingredients, and then many of the following chapters describe how the protagonist wants to make reasonable use of this ingredient, how to obtain a stable supply of goods, how to expand the source of customers, how to let the small store grow slowly step by step, and the impact of this new ingredient on the small store, and then discover another new ingredient...... In order not to let the protagonist discover too many new ingredients, causing the small shop to be unable to hold it, I also specially arranged for the second egg to come out and make trouble......
Up to now, this book has been advancing according to my vision, but there are many books that are friendly and don't like it too much, feel procrastinated, think that the urban plot is not good, and always want to watch the plot of the other world, according to my understanding...... This is what I want to read about fast food.
So now I'm a little confused, is this book the wrong way!
When I think about it, I don't even know what to write in the next chapter, so I skip to the next day and let the protagonist go to the other world to discover a new ingredient?
Or according to the previous routine, I just discovered a new ingredient, why should I take it slowly and write something else?
I really don't know which routine is more popular with you......
Alas, I still have no experience and can't grasp the taste of most people.
Everyone, please give us your opinions, tell us how you feel about this book, and talk about whether you like the current style and rhythm or not.
Combined with your opinions, I have to make some adjustments, and I really don't want to ruin this book......
