Chapter 24: Reasons for Forgiveness (I)
Georgiana lit a candle and lay on her bed with her cheeks in her back to comb through the memories of last year's Cozwold. In the end, the focus is on the time when Emma saved her. Mr. Darcy had been able to live a positive life and be normal, but since then something has not been right. When she woke up from her coma that night, Mr. Darcy, who was sitting in a chair and waiting, had an ugly face, reluctantly comforted her, and went back when he saw that she was all right. It was normal for him to be in a bad mood when something like this happened, so Georgiana didn't think much of it at the time, but she hadn't seen Mr. Darcy since. Early the next morning, Mr. Darcy left Cozwold to run errands, leaving her to Emma and George, who had not yet fully recovered. Later, when Emma and the others sent her back to Bloomberg, Mr. Darcy was not there. This is clearly not normal.
Locking on to the point, Georgiana blew out the candle and lay down again, deciding to go to Emma tomorrow morning to see if she could ask what had happened when she was unconscious that day. She still can't imagine what could make her brother, who is even more strict with others, fall in love with Emma, of course, Emma is the best lady she has ever seen, and is fully worthy of the love of any gentleman. But Emma has a fiancรฉ, how could her brother, who knew about it from the beginning, let go of his feelings? If she knew what made her brother's emotions break free from the shackles of reason, maybe she could help her brother get out of this undeserved relationship.
Turning over in bed, Georgiana couldn't help but sigh, if only Emma didn't have a fiancรฉ. Although her brother is arrogant, stern, boring, and often sharp-tongued, she doesn't give face, Georgiana folds her fingers and calculates, disappointed to find that even if Emma doesn't have a fiancรฉ, she won't necessarily like her brother. It's better to help my brother give up this hopeless relationship. โฎ(โฏ_โฐ)โญ
Emma was picking out clothes for George when Georgiana arrived.
Last year, George presented the successful cowpox vaccine to the royal family, and at the same time provided free vaccination for everyone from Yorkshire, because Yorkshire is his place of charge, so the implementation is quite smooth, even if many people have doubts, they dare not object. It's not so easy to get out of Yorkshire. The people of the Royal Society, though afraid to speak ill of George, sneered at the doctor he had sought to study cowpox. He also protested against this aristocratic whim of taking money and disrespecting medicine. It wasn't until nearly a year after the effects of cowpox were verified that all opposition faded. The doctors were honoured by the Royal Society, one doctor with no formal education was awarded an honorary doctorate, and George was also awarded the Legion of Honour by the royal family. Since then, George has said that he will work hard to earn money and continue to contribute to the British Empire, and has funded many projects, three of which are manuscripts, and none of the others. And people who are skeptical of his proclaimed instinctive talent are trying to get a piece of the pie.
George was wearing a shirt embroidered with gold stripes, and the placket of his waistcoat was decorated with pearls that looked heavy, and the sun shone from his side, and the whole person was simply shining. "I think maybe God has given me an intuition to discern what is valuable science. I will use this gift of mine to continue to serve my British Empire. People say that I don't do my job, but they don't know what the value of my career is. Actually, I can make enough money to sponsor it, but I'd love to get involved. โ
Emma covered her eyes with her hands and couldn't stop laughing: "Very good, very temperamental, remember to raise your head a little higher." โ
George twisted his neck and complained, "My neck is stiff when I hold my head up all day." Seriously, I don't think this perpetual motion machine project is reliable at all, and there are still so many people who want to join it. โ
Emma was a little surprised: "Do you think it's unreliable? Why?" She remembered that people still had some enthusiasm for perpetual motion machines, so she deliberately added the idea of perpetual motion machines to those inventions. It would be doubtful if all inventive ideas were successful.
George said with a big grin: "I don't know any scientific principles, but how can there be such a cheap thing in the world, and there is a reward without paying." โ
Emma looked at George with interest, this is the legendary Great Fool?" "Brother, maybe you really have the ability to discern valuable scientific inventions." โ
George didn't take it seriously: "Don't be kidding, I didn't choose these items at all, I rolled the dice." When the invention of the perpetual motion machine proves unsuccessful, and these hot-headed people lose money, it is probably time to reconsider what I call innate intuition. โ
Emma doesn't think so. "It takes at least four or five projects that prove unsuccessful for them to think you're bragging. And the vaccinia vaccine is just luck. โ
Just then, Georgiana arrived. George consciously made room for the two ladies.
After a few small talks with Emma, Georgiana plucked up the courage to get to the point: "Emma, we went to Cozwolds together last year, and you saved me during a picnic. โ
Emma thought that Georgiana was going to say something thankful again, but she didn't expect Georgiana's next sentence to make her freeze. "Did anything happen after I passed out that day?"
A year later, Emma still felt blood rush down her cheeks. "Nope. Why do you ask? Did something happen?"
Georgiana suddenly felt bad, it had been more than two years since she and Emma first met, and this was the first time she had seen Emma blush. Something very special must have happened that day. But it seems that Emma won't sue her anymore. "In the past few days, when I dreamed, I dreamed that someone was talking to me when I was unconscious, and it felt like something very important, but I couldn't hear it clearly. Georgiana had been making up this reason since she woke up last night, and had repeated it several times on the way here, blurting out that she was unusually fluent and did not stutter at all.
This reason does not particularly stand up to scrutiny, and Emma feels that something is wrong, but Georgiana has always been a pure little angel in her heart. Georgiana in front of her looked very natural, and she shouldn't be lying to her. Emma secretly criticized her suspicions in her heart, and replied, "I took you to the hut to take shelter from the rain, and after a while Mr. Darcy found us, and waited in the hut until the rain stopped and took you back." Didn't say anything important. โ
"I see. Georgiana wondered what could happen in the cabin, and she had no experience in love, and she couldn't even think of reading novels because her brother was restricting her. I had to change the topic. "Yesterday I asked my brother to send me the piano scores, and he didn't offend you again, did he? I see that my brother was not in a very good mood yesterday. โ
Emma blinked. In fact, she was confused and didn't know why yesterday's events had turned out the way they did. Yesterday was as follows: 1. Mr. Darcy solemnly thanked her for the matter of Georgiana and apologized to her.2. She said that she had been rude in the past, and she agreed with Mr. Darcy's idea that the two should keep a certain distance.3. Mr. Darcy did not seem to feel relieved by this, and apologized again with a pale face and a devastated appearance4.5. Silence5.George returned, and Mr. Darcy took his leave. The process was completely different from what she had imagined. "No, Mr. Darcy sincerely apologized to me. But he didn't seem to be in a good mood. โ
Georgiana felt very guilty that she had tested her brother and caused Emma, in fact, the most innocent of all. "I'm sorry, Emma. โ
Emma thought that Georgiana was still apologizing to Mr. Darcy for what had happened to her, and hugged Georgiana like a dejected rabbit: "Honey, you are so good to me. In fact, every time she hears Georgiana apologize for this, she feels an indescribable void. How much does the little angel favor her to accuse Mr. Darcy?
"Huh?" said Georgiana's eyes widened in confusion.
Emma rubbed her head and didn't answer. She couldn't even speak.
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ dividing line of memoryโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
George stood outside the piano room, hesitating to go in.
I don't know if it's because of the pain of the wound, Emma's mood has not been very good since she came back from distress. That man's duel Alvin won, and this honest lad didn't know how to let go of water. However, George is still full of momentum [George Fantasy] sternly warns him to be kind to Emma. Because of the warning from his eldest brother [George thinks], Alvin begins to find a way to make the unhappy Emma happy, and he has only one way - to play the piano, and this soldier, who looks like a piece of wood, surprisingly plays the piano well. Emma is not the kind of person who will bother the people around her because she is in a bad mood, she is very embarrassed to smile again, and she also sang a song at the country dance. But the good times didn't last long, Alvin was called back to the army, and Georgiana returned to Bloomberg. Because Emma has not been in high spirits these days, George is very worried that the news will make things worse
Emma finished her task for today's exercise, took her attention back from the score, felt someone behind her, and turned to see that it was George, who was speechless and stopped. "What's wrong, brother?"
was caught by his sister.,If you want to cover up the past, you can't do it.ใ George had no choice but to hand over a stack of papers. It's not good to talk directly to his adult sister, and he asked the investigator to put things in writing.
Emma swept her face with her eyes and sank. "I eloped with Clark?" she read the first page sentence by sentence though she was displeased, and after turning it over, she put down the stack of papers without reading a few sentences, and asked in disbelief, "Me and Mr. Darcy?"
George shrugged: "That's you." Emma, actually, I've always wanted to say, you're not, huh. He had always felt very embarrassed to talk about this topic with his sister, and it seemed that he was very unserious, but now he can't say it. "Actually, I can understand, after all, it was Fitzwilliam who stepped forward in a desperate situation, and although he was a little worse than me, he was also a handsome gentleman"
What do you understand!, Emma glared at George. "Mr. Darcy and I haven't spoken a few words or danced together, so why do you think I like him?"
George was glared at by his sister, but he still mustered up the courage to finish his sentence. "Well, it's not a matter of how much you say. When you see Fitzwilliam, your eyes are different. George didn't pay close attention to the eyes of others. Emma did her best to help Mr. Darcy in London and did not tell him the truth, which aroused George's suspicions, so George made a special observation, how to look at how Emma looked at Mr. Darcy's eyes a little extraordinary, he couldn't say it, just like the turquoise water flashed in a moment of sparkling waves, in short, he was very happy.
Emma chuckled in her heart. "Really?" she had never felt herself, and although she did feel better when she saw Mr. Darcy in general, she did not expect it to show in her eyes. And George, who has always been careless, has noticed, how revealing is this look?
"Yes, I think about him in everything. I was also warned not to go to bed too late in the Cotswolds, Fitzwilliam's bedroom was next door to mine, and we didn't live with the ladies, apparently for fear that I would disturb him. โ
Emma really didn't know that her actions were so misunderstood in the eyes of others. "But Mr. Darcy has helped us. If it weren't for him, maybe the entire Kentra family would be gone. Isn't it normal for me to reciprocate?"
George didn't expect Emma to be unaware of this common sense. "That's what I should have done in return. Emma, you are a lady. It's okay to refute other people's slander against Fitzwilliam in public, but it's not good to do it in private, well. He said bitterly, "Of course you are worthy of any gentleman." But Fitzwilliam was a stilted fellow, and he would never like a young lady with a fiancรฉ. I've tried to tell him a few times what you've done, and he didn't respond at all. In fact, George had only said it once, but he thought that would give his sister a death sentence if he said that.
Emma was not good at all, but she held back and said sternly, "I really don't like Mr. Darcy." If I really liked him, I would have found a way to break off my engagement with Alwin. โ
It was with this in mind that George was not sure, especially since Emma and Alwin got along well. But Emma's initial appearance made him suspicious all the time.
Emma thought quickly and said angrily, "Brother, I find that you really have a lot of imagination. That time you fantasized that Miss Thomas liked you, and that she had just stumbled over her glass in front of you. โ
George felt aggrieved. "It's true. Of course, I understand that I accidentally missed, but she didn't scream and faint or let me go out to avoid it, but instead said something that believed in my character, which was simply "The word seduction is not very good, he didn't say it, but Emma understood it at once."
Emma was hit by 10,000 critical hits in an instant, and covered her face in frustration. Therefore, in Mr. Darcy's eyes, she has been showing favor to him with her eyes, and in the name of repaying her kindness, she actually secretly does things for him for selfishness, so much so that George knows that he has tried him again and again, but Mr. Darcy endures it. Until that day, when he bumped into her and undressed to clean her wounds, she not only did not faint or let him avoid him, but also let him in several times and tried to seduce him. Mr. Darcy finally couldn't resist her.
"Emma, Emma, what's wrong with your face?"
Emma ignores him. What's wrong with my face? My face is gone! I can't go out to meet people anymore. So the generation gap of hundreds of years is really deadly! George can see it, what about Georgiana, what about Lieutenant Colonel Fitzwilliam? Hum, let me die first.
