Wedge: Dragon Triangle

For thousands of years, deep in people's hearts, there has always been a fear of the vast ocean, especially after human beings entered the civilized society, more and more ships sailed in the ocean every day. But to this day, there is still a strange sea that terrifies these voyagers!

This is not the mysterious and infamous Bermuda Triangle (which is the talk of Westerners, too far away to speculate on its authenticity), but an even more mysterious sea area east of Japan – the Devil's Triangle.

Location: 25 degrees north latitude, 142 degrees east longitude, this is the central coordinate of one of the most mysterious triangles on Earth, with an area of about 13 million square kilometers. Over the centuries, a large number of ships have sunk inexplicably, and bizarre incidents of mysterious disappearances of planes have occurred again and again in this region, which is located on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, in the deep waters of the Pacific Ocean, and it is generally believed that the boundary of Japan's Devil's Triangle extends from the central Sea of Japan in the north to the Mariana Islands in Guam in the south. Local fishermen are accustomed to calling this Devil's Triangle "The Dragon's Triangle".

What is the force that drives the ship to the bottom of the sea and no life survives, why do those planes disappear out of thin air without leaving a trace, what is the force that pushes the sailors to death, how many secrets are hidden under the ocean, whether the black holes on the bottom of the sea, abnormal magnetic fields, and unidentified diving objects really exist?

Today, the rumors of sea monsters have faded with the times, but the nearby fishermen still have a deep awe of the Dragon Triangle. This feeling is especially strong when they are tempted by the abundant aquatic resources to risk their lives. Even more bizarrely, the infamous Bermuda Triangle is located on the other side of the globe, at 25 degrees latitude, opposite the Dragon Triangle, where the waters of the two seas are believed to be the deepest in the world.

At first, Japan's Dragon Triangle was obscure compared to Bermuda's Devil's Triangle, but later, it began to attract more and more attention, and the mysterious disappearances and other strange phenomena that occurred in the Dragon Triangle were shocking! Since World War II, it is believed that 1,500-2,000 ships and thousands of military, commercial and civilian aircraft have mysteriously disappeared here.

In 1502, when the fleet of navigators Christopher Columbus attempted to dock at the nearest Florida coast to escape the sudden storms, all navigational instruments failed in an instant, and the compass needle no longer pointed to the true north, but to the northwest by 6 degrees. Christopher Columbus recorded this process in his logbook, and he became the first person in the West to discover the phenomenon of magnetic declination. At this time, the crew sailing on the other side of the world in the Japanese Dragon Triangle also had similar records. Since then, people have come to believe that the phenomenon of magnetic declination causes ships in transit to get lost or even disappear, when in fact, magnetic declination is only caused by the fact that the north and south magnetic poles on the earth do not coincide with the geographical north and south poles. This deviation exists anywhere on Earth, so it is not unique to the Bermuda Triangle and the Japanese Dragon Triangle. The phenomenon of magnetic declination proposed by Christopher Columbus 500 years ago has long since become essential knowledge for voyagers, and it cannot simply be the cause of the loss and disappearance of ships with modern nautical equipment.

In the Dragon Triangle, there are also these archival records:

On April 19, 1949, the Kuroshio Maru No. 1 merchant ship disappeared along with 23 crew members;

On June 8, 1952, the tuna salvage vessel Chufukumaru No. 5 disappeared with a crew of 29;

On July 26, 1955, the U.S. Air Force F3B jet lost radio contact with its base, and 2 crew members went missing;

On March 12, 1957, eight crew members of the U.S. Air Force KB-50 refueling transport plane were reported missing;

On June 7, 1963, the wreck of the Tongnan Maru was found floating on the sea;

On 9 September 1980, the De Bhaishire and its crew disappeared:

Let's focus on the sinking of this giant ship -

On September 8, 1980, the De Baishire arrived about 360 kilometers off the coast of Okinawa, Japan, carrying 150,000 tons of iron ore.

It has been at sea for four years, which is the time when the machinery is in ideal condition. Anyone would feel very safe on the ship's large deck, but that's only for tourists, and in fact, most of the crew members who stay on the De Baishire all year round have to make ends meet for their families, so they have to make ends meet on the De Baichar, which shuttles the waters of the Dragon Delta all day long.

On 9 September, the De Baishire and its crew disappeared, how did such a behemoth disappear into thin air without leaving a trace?

For more than a decade after the sinking of the Charles de Beachar, most people believed that the wreckage would not be found. An official report even concluded that it was a force of nature, and the incident was terminated.

Fortunately, the wreck of the de Baishire was finally found 14 years after its sinking, so what was it that drove it to the bottom of the sea?

The de Byshire had been hit by a typhoon (winds of more than 100 meters per second, waves of more than 9 meters high), and the waves caused by the hurricane were almost equal to the length of the hull, so when it descended to the trough, the hull was immediately pushed into the next wave, and then wave after wave completely trapped it. When he was confronted with a terrifying triangular wave, the de Baishire was ruthlessly torn in three pieces and crushed and deformed as it sank, leaving no survivors of the crew.

Although the cause of the sinking of the Charles de Béhar was eventually found, and perhaps many ships sank for similar reasons, this reason does not explain all the strange phenomena that have happened here.

There has been a strange phenomenon in the Dragon Triangle of Japan, which caused the clock to suddenly change the time, all of which happened suddenly, whether it was an official document or a personal report.

The Dragon Triangle was first brought to the attention of the Americans, not because of the De Byajre incident, but because of the mysterious crash of the legendary American female pilot Amelia Erhard in 1937.

Amelia Erhard is a household name in the United States, and this legendary female pilot has flown almost all over the world.

On July 2, 1937, at 12:30 p.m., the legendary female pilot Amelia Erhard and the navigator Fred Noonan left New Guinea for the final leg of their round-the-world flight, their plan was to fly over the Dragon Triangle, fly more than 4,000 kilometers and then land and refuel, however, they never returned alive.

After the disappearance, the U.S. Navy used a lot of manpower and material resources to search and rescue in the waters of the Dragon Delta, but found nothing, did not find any relics, and the entire search and rescue cost nearly 4 million US dollars (in the 30s of the 20th century).

To this day, Erhard's disappearance remains one of the biggest unsolved cases in aviation.

Japan's Dragon Triangle is not only the site of the mysterious disappearance of the USS Ellhard, but also the area where ghost ships are often reported, which are large, unmanned ships floating in the sea and have existed for centuries.

At 4 a.m. on June 11, 1881, the light cruiser HMS Royal Bacchus reportedly encountered the legendary glowing ghost ship Flying Dutchman, the son of George V of England, who had been a second lieutenant in his youth, and recorded in his logbook:

The Flying Dutchman passed through the bow of our ship, and like all ghost ships glow, it emitted a strange phosphorescence, and it sailed to our bow on the port side, and the pilot on duty who came from the bridge saw it, but when the ship came to shore, there was no trace or sign of any concrete ship in the vicinity or on the horizon......

The description may seem bizarre, but many people are convinced that the prince will not lie.

Although phenomena that could not be understood hundreds of years ago can be explained with today's knowledge, it is not enough to unravel the mystery of all strange events.

Like the Bermuda Triangle in the Atlantic Ocean, it is believed that the Dragon Triangle in southern Japan also has mysterious magnetic interference, which is believed to have caused ghost ship incidents and caused planes and ships to deviate from their courses.

In the '50s and '60s, U.S. Air Force pilots reported other similar phenomena, including Air Force pilot Frank Hopkins, an adviser to the 106th Airlift Group, who wrote a story for Merchant Marine magazine in the summer of 1968 about what happened to him in a C-97 stratofreighter over the Dragon Triangle.

In the letter, Hopkins said, "In the spring of 1966, I was on a mission as the lead navigator of the C-97, and we were looking forward to a pleasant trip of six to six and a half hours of night flight, and Hopkins was required to correct his position through an automatic navigation satellite system, but during the third hour of the flight, something incomprehensible happened.

Hopkins's letter recorded: I carried out a second astronomical positioning at that time, the weather was very good, the only problem was that this positioning was almost 630 kilometers away from the original route, I checked the data over and over again to correct how the plane's route would deviate so far in an hour, for no apparent reason, and later after landing, Hopkins reported to the watchman that his plane deviated from the course by hundreds of kilometers, but the report was not filed. However, Hopkins remains convinced that there are indeed some strange forces in this area that pose a great threat to passing ships and aircraft, and because of the continuous occurrence of such incidents, experts believe that there are other powerful forces at the bottom of the Dragon Triangle.

On a dark and clear night in January 1989, a Japanese whaling ship led by Captain Shigeru Sakagami saw a small fishing boat within 16 meters, sailing irregularly, the captain and several other crew members came to the ship, trying to find the surviving crew, everything was quiet, he looked around nervously, but all he answered was the sound of the current hitting the hull. He was starting to feel scared, there was so much silence around him, what had happened here?

Eventually, Captain Shigeru Sakagami discovers that the ship has no crew and no cargo other than the captain's body. The captain's hand was still clutching the steering wheel.

This may be the closest record to us in the Dragon Triangle Archives.

Some of the above are recorded in the historical archives of various countries, some of which have been declassified, some of which are still in top secret, and some of which are still official documents, but due to various reasons, their authenticity cannot be verified at present.

Some may wonder why so many ships sail from here despite the danger when this area is so mysterious and dangerous? Although 70% of the planet is covered by oceans, the Atlantic, Indian and Pacific Oceans, which are the most popular areas for shipping, are often difficult for sailors to avoid unless they don't want to make a living on the oceans. What is the concept of 13 million square kilometers of sea area, many people may immediately think of a familiar number, that is, China's land area (including land area of 9.6 million square kilometers and 3.5 million marine land), this is a very large area, but also many maritime ships, commercial ships, tourist ships, military ships, special ships and civil, commercial, military aircraft must pass through, but at the same time, we can also preliminarily analyze that the so-called Dragon Triangle is actually a rough sea area.

Therefore, all kinds of shipwrecks and plane crash cases can be regarded as a statistical data, and the triangle area can only be regarded as a statistical area, there is a certain degree of unscientificity, maybe similar events have occurred in some places, but it is not believed that they occurred in the Dragon Triangle, and it is entirely possible that some events that are believed to have occurred in the Dragon Triangle are not actually in the triangle area of the Dragon Triangle, in short, no one can accurately locate the three vertex coordinates of the Dragon Triangle, these three coordinates often only exist in the hearts of experienced sailors, even if the coordinates in each person's heart are different。

Naturally, the statistical time is also up for debate, and the Dragon Triangle is such a mysterious area.

One thing is for sure, the Dragon Triangle continues to create mysterious disappearances, but unfortunately, there are no survivors among these witnesses who know the truth, the mystery still exists, and the moment to solve the mystery is still far away.

Until recent years, many shipwrecks have occurred in this terrifying Devil's Triangle.

Among them, there are 8 mysterious disappearances of ships from 2116 to 2118: they are Japan's Octopus ocean exploration ship, the United States' Charm ocean monitoring ship, France's **Feng amphibious assault ship, China's Tengyue cargo ship, Jiangxin passenger and cargo ship, Kenting large cargo ship, Yuanbo container merchant ship, and Centaur Constellation cruise ship.

In 2218 alone, there were three shipwrecks, and a total of 139 crew members died in this mysterious sea.

This is where our story begins.
