Chapter 4: The Inner City
I don't know how long it took for Elsie to open her eyes in a drowsy state, and the light from the curtains was already bright, and it looked like it was already early. Sitting up, although still a little tired, it was already refreshed. As soon as she pushed open the door, she saw Dylan and Fislina sitting on the sofa, looking back at her in unison, Elsie was startled, Fiselina watched her get up and walked to the kitchen, saying as she walked, "You're awake." I'm going to give you a hot meal, and I've got spare toiletries in the room next to it, so let's clean it up first. β
How long have I been asleep? Elsie peeked at the clock hanging on the wall, and found that it was already two o'clock in the afternoon! She blushed suddenly, she was not such a sleepy person, and she was really too tired lately. On the sofa, Dylan's eyes were still following her, she rushed into the bathroom in some embarrassment, closed the door, I'm afraid the hot meal is not breakfast but lunch!
Sitting at the dinner table, eating the meal slowly one bite at a time, Elsie's eyes unconsciously peeked at the two sisters and brothers sitting on the sofa, they wouldn't think I was lazy... It's a shame. Anyway, it seems that he said that he was going to take me to the inner city today, so I guess it's too late. Just thinking about it, Feslina said: "When Elsie finishes eating, Dylan will take you to the inner city, although the time is a little late, but the city is safe at present, and Dylan is with you, it doesn't matter if you come back later." Elsie replied in a low voice, burying her head in the time to swallow her meal. Nothing to say for a while.
Elsie, who was forcibly interrupted again, was wheeled back into his room to change his clothes. She put on the clothes and pants she prepared yesterday, the sleeves were fine, the length of the trouser legs really affected the movement, she thought about it and rolled up the trouser legs, and suddenly felt a lot more refreshed, and when she went out, she saw that Dylan had pushed the door open and was waiting for her, Elsie hurriedly followed.
"Wait!" Elsie turned around, but saw Feslina grabbing a piece of clothing on the sofa and walking towards her, shaking it open to see a hood and buttoned cloak, help her tie it around, Fislina smiled and said: "Although we have spring all year round here, but it's January now, and it's still cold and windy today, so it's more comfortable to wear it this night and come back." "This cloak is supposed to be Fisrina's half-length cloak, but she is still young, and she wears it up to her thighs. Fesrina turned to Dylan and told him a bunch of things like don't forget to buy her clothes and take care of her so that she doesn't get separated, and when Dylan nodded, she let the two go out.
Going out and taking a deep breath, although there are not many people here, but I don't know how much better than the wilderness and ruined town, Elsie followed Dylan's footsteps with some joy, looking around, but he didn't pay attention to the person in front of him suddenly stopped and slammed into it.
Elsie screamed softly, covered her head and looked at Dylan, thinking that he was about to say something, but saw him reach over with his hands and take her hood, and then turned and walked forward without saying a word. Elsie tightened her coat and hat, and followed with some inexplicability.
After walking for a short time, I saw that there was a city gate in front of me, but it was much smaller than the outer city, there were a few people guarding the door, all wearing blue-gray armor, Dylan walked towards them, the guards checked his identity card, and glanced at Elsie a few times, and let them in, as soon as the door was opened, there was a sudden burst of people, as if it was two cities with the outer city, all kinds of vendors were set up, tourists were weaving, and the streets were full of shops with people coming and going, although yesterday Fislina had told her that because of the sharp decline in population, most of the survivors of the outer city had run to a safer inner city lifeγ But now that I see it with my own eyes, I still feel that this place is very prosperous, as if it was the world before the invasion of the Demon Realm.
It's been a long time since she's seen so many people and the city it used to look like, and Elsie stood a little dazzled until Dylan tugged at her cloak and she didn't react and follow. Going around a block, Elsie followed into a shop with all kinds of clothes hanging in the store, and as soon as he saw the two of them come in, the boss greeted them with a smile: "Hello two, I don't know what you need?" Elsie was a little shy and hidden, Dylan pointed at him, and motioned to the store to find something he could wear. The boss smiled and said, "Please take off the cloak of this kid, and I will look at your figure to help you choose the right clothes." The cloak was indeed a little wide, and Elsie unbuttoned it, revealing a childish and delicate face, but the boss didn't say anything, and went in to look for clothes after a rough visual inspection of her figure.
Elsie sat next to Dylan and waited, she was indeed a little shy, because she was shy, and when she went on the road alone, she only brought a small staff and a map, and now these two things are still in Dylan's room, there is nothing of value on her, only a dark green pendant necklace does not even leave the bath, this is still a lot...... Forget it, don't mention it. Elsie's family is well-off, but he rarely encounters such a dilemma. Before he could figure out a way, the store had come over with a stack of clothes, about three or four sets, all of which were worn by a twelve or thirteen-year-old girl like her, Elsie was just about to speak, but saw Dylan take out his wallet and put it on the table, signaling that the store was all inclusive, the boss quickly packed a few bags, opened the wallet and took out a few gold and silver coins, and stuffed the remaining wallet back into Dylan's hand, it seems that he has done business with such a customer who does not like to talk, and the business is very skilled. Dylan walked out with the bag, Elsie also hurriedly tied the cloak in her hand and followed out, she put on her hood, hesitated for a long time, and finally grabbed the corner of Dylan's coat, "That ......"
Dylan looked back at her suspiciously, and Elsie looked up into his eyes with a determined gaze: "I'll give you back the money later." Dylan didn't know what his expression was, and he was dull for a few seconds before he nodded lightly and said, "Hmm." β
Dylan led Elsie through two more streets, and came to the intersection of a T-shaped street, where there was a huge building on the corner, which seemed to have several floors, and the doorway was bustling, and people kept coming and going, some wearing warriors' leather armor, some wearing mage robes with staffs, and some people wrapped in cloaks or wearing masks, and people who did not show their faces. When I walked in, I saw a hall, with several beautiful big sisters standing at the counter in the middle, smiling and talking to the people who came in, and there were two huge display boards on each side, on which were many sheets of paper with small characters written on them. There were a lot of people watching and talking about something.
A man who was leaning on the side of the counter and talking to a beautiful woman saw Dylan walk in, and quickly smiled apologetically at the woman and walked over, and patted Dylan on the shoulder hard: "Dylan! I remember that you will rest for two days after taking the task and come back? Why did you come back today after seeing you hand in the task yesterday?" Dylan didn't speak, and the man noticed that Elsie, who walked in with Dylan, didn't go anywhere else, and stood quietly beside Dylan. "Who is this?" Hearing the inquiry, Elsie lifted his hood a little and smiled at him in a friendly manner, this person is so familiar with him, he must be a friend of Dylan's.
"What a pretty little girl!" the man exclaimed, and immediately let go of his hand around Dylan's shoulder, and turned to bend down to speak to him, "Beautiful young lady, I'm Rick, may I ask your name?"
Elsie shy and whispered, "I'm Elsie." β
Rick's expression was gentle and enthusiastic, and just as he was about to speak, he was pulled up by Dylan with a frown, and Rick asked him dissatisfied: "Why haven't you seen him before?"
Dylan shook his head.
"Outside the city, you met yesterday?"
Dylan nodded.
Rick seemed to be accustomed to this man's few words, and turned to ask Elsie, "Little friend, what are you doing here?"
Elsie replied, "Dylan took me to the inner city. β
Rick was stunned for a moment, then laughed, patted Dylan on the shoulder, and said, "This is what your sister asked, right? What should I say about you? Rick straightened up and said, "That's it, I'll do you a favor, I'll take this kid for a walk." Dylan looked at him with distrust, and Rick said with a haha, "Don't worry, brother, I'm only interested in beautiful mature women, this kid is still a child." It just so happened that old Hans told me in the morning that he was looking for you, and let me meet you and talk to you. The latter thing seemed to move Dylan, and his expression was a little relaxed, "Don't worry, I'll give her back to you after you talk to old Hans, and besides, you don't speak, and you can't help her introduce her, right?"
Dylan finally nodded, Elsie listened to their conversation and quickly looked at Dylan nervously, Dylan's eyes motioned for him to follow Rick, Elsie thought about it, Dylan's friend should not be a bad person, besides, this person seems to be quite friendly, so he turned his head to Rick and said, "Then trouble you." Rick smiled and said, "Good." Pushing her back with one hand, Dylan watched them disappear from the door, then turned around the counter and walked upstairs.
