Chapter 4: Violent Neighborhoods
In 1997, Taeho, David, and Fukuoka withdrew from Yamakasi, and at the end of the year, David changed the name of Le-Parcours to Parkour, which means more concise and smooth, mobile and practical.
In 1999, Tae-ho was in his freshman year.
When he went to college, Tae-ho finally had time to go to the park on weekends to practice with David and Fukuoka, instead of tossing around in the gym after exercising.
However, it didn't take long for the joint practice to cause new problems to arise.
Fukuoka wanted Parkour to be more expressive rather than the concise and fluid that David emphasized.
Taeho has said many times that conciseness does not mean that there is no expressiveness, and the extremely concise movements are actually full of extraordinarily dazzling energy, but Fukuoka disagrees, Taehao and David have the best relationship, and Fukuoka itself is biased against Taeho's opinion.
Fukuoka left.
David was very depressed, he felt that he might be wrong, otherwise there would not be so many people who disagreed with him.
"What's wrong?" Tae-ho handed David a beer. After sending Fukuoka away, Taeho bought a few beers and came back. As an adult, Tae-ho has no problem going to the supermarket to buy alcohol by himself.
"I wondered, am I really wrong?" said David, pulling the tab from the can and lifting his neck to clean the beer.
"There is no right or wrong philosophy. Tae-ho shook his head: "Fukuoka just talked to me, he said he was going to the UK to spread freerunning, oh, this is his parkour name, he just told me." β
"What about you, Bernard?" asked David.
"Iβwhat's wrong with me?" Tae-ho wondered.
"You're going to make a movie, so I guess I prefer that more expressive way. David asked.
"David, you can see that your understanding of movies is still very superficial. Tae-ho shook his head: "The gorgeousness of the performance is useless, the important thing is the use of storyboards, the shooting angle, the editing, and the post-production." Freerunning is one way of expression to move into the movie, and Parkour needs another way of expression if he enters the movie, and the two ways are suitable for two kinds of films, he is suitable for acting, and we are suitable for action scenes, there is no comparison. β
"So what?"
"First of all, I have exactly the same concept as you, Le-Parcours was originally a technique used in the fire, what is needed is simplicity and efficiency, we are going further and further on this road, while Fukuoka is changing the end and changing the direction. Bell, you are my guide, you introduced me to Le-Parcours, and Mr. Raymond taught me Le-Parcours. In this regard, we are brothers, and I will support you without hesitation at any time. β
ββ¦β¦β
2004 is David's 5th year in the film industry and Tae-ho's 18th year, and the child star debut is so capricious.
From the millennium to this year, David starred in a total of 4 movies, all of which were with Tae-ho. In the first movie, the two of them were only supporting roles for less than 10 minutes when the shots were combined, and no movie could show the amazing skills of the two of them, but both of them had no regrets, and they always believed that gold would always shine.
Sure enough, the opportunity came.
Luc Besson, who used to be the screenwriter of "Yamakasis", who came up with the script and caused Taeho, David, and Fukuoka to quit the group, found the two of them and said that he had a new script, about parkour, and hoped to invite the two of them to star.
David was hostile to Luc Besson in his heart, but now that he is also a movie actor after all, he also has to understand the rules, so he still agreed to meet Luc Besson at Taehao's house and read the script he brought over.
"Mr. Besson, it's been a long time, and it looks like you've been doing a good time. Tae-ho laughed.
"I'm ashamed. Luc Besson waved his hand and sighed helplessly.
"Yamakasis" was released, and the shooting was okay, after all, it was a major extreme sport, and the shots were real, so the results were still good, but Luc Besson was very disappointed, the movie was written and directed by him, but what was filmed was not what he wanted, and there was no familiar feeling when directing "This Killer is Not Too Cold".
In many cases, artistic pursuits and commercial benefits cannot be both.
The IP of "Yamakasis" was acquired by the film company, and although Luc Besson got the money in his hand, he thought about it and felt that he couldn't be defeated and lay down in place, and he had to stand up, so he wrote the script and found Tae-ho and David.
"Banlieue 13?" David asked, picking up the script and seeing the title on the cover for a moment.
"Hey?" Tae-ho was stunned for a moment when he heard this, and then said with a smile: "Mr. Besson, you are going to make a big news, aren't you afraid that the gendarmes will talk to you on the charge of insinuating reality?"
"So I put the timeline in 2010 and that's it. Luc Besson laughed.
"It's a nice job. Tae-ho nodded.
Tae-ho and David flipped through the script, while Luc Besson was there.
The filming of "Yamakasis" led to the breakup of their group, which made Luc Besson feel a little guilty, but he didn't think about it so much. But when he sat down with the two of them face to face to talk about the script, Luc Besson's heart suddenly rose with guilt.
Tae-ho and David watched the script for an hour, while Laura entered the house twice to change the coffee that had cooled down for them.
Closing the script, David nodded and said with a smile: "I like this script very much. On the other hand, Tae-ho next to him had a calm expression, so that people couldn't see what he was thinking.
"What's wrong, Bernard?" David felt in his heart as he watched Tae-ho reach out and pick up his coffee.
"Nothing. Tae-ho shook his head and turned to Luc Besson, "Mr. Besson, I would like to ask, who is the director of this movie?"
ββ¦β¦ It's Pierre Morey. Luc Besson hesitated for a long time before he spoke.
"I've never heard of it. David next to him wondered.
"It's a rookie director. Luc Besson said: "He used to shoot 'Extraordinary Human Traffickers'. β
"Wow, 'Very Trafficker', Jason Statham. Tae-ho was stunned for a moment, and then asked, "So is the martial arts instructor of this film the predecessor of Hong Kong's Yuan Kui?" I remember that he used to be the martial arts instructor of "Extraordinary Human Traffickers". β
ββ¦β¦ Not. Luc Besson shook his head.
"Married class?" Tae-ho asked again, "I saw that there was a 'Damian one-to-many in the secret room' part in the script, and the one-to-many martial arts only the martial arts of the Married Family class can do the best." β
ββ¦β¦ Neither is it. Luc Besson shook his head: "In this play, we don't plan to hire a professional martial arts instructor, we want a show-off movie, and the main thing to show off is the superb parkour strength of the two of you." The martial arts instruction program was designed by the two of you personally, after all, you have both studied martial arts. β
"But Mr. Besson, don't you think it's very embarrassing for you to set up the world's top parkour shots in the front, followed by an amateur martial arts fight?" Tae-ho shook his head: "I think this script is a very good popcorn movie, and whether you can make the audience feel that the popcorn is sweet and delicious from beginning to end depends on the martial arts scenes in the back." If the martial arts are successful, this is a Hollywood blockbuster-level movie, and if the martial arts is not successful, the box office of this movie will be discounted. β
"What do you mean, Mr. Bernard?"
"I like the script very much and Bale, you can send someone to our company to negotiate the contract. However, I hope you can put a little more effort into your martial arts, and if it's a martial artist in the family class, I'm even willing to reduce the price to act. Tae-ho smiled: "Although my salary is not much, but this also shows my attitude, I hope you can seriously consider that the success of this movie only depends on whether you are willing to spend money to hire a family class to design martial arts, a phone call, it is not a difficult thing." β
"Is that what Mr. Bell thinks, too?" said Luc Besson, looking at David next to him.
"Sir, the two of us have always been in the same direction. David nodded.
ββ¦β¦ Okay, I'll take your advice seriously. Luc Besson nodded: "In that case, then I will take my leave first." The two of you can use the script to ponder the characters, but please don't leak it. β
"Of course. β
