Messi has retired, and like Cristiano Ronaldo, this is definitely big news in world football. But there is another thing that the Chinese media and fans are more concerned about, and that is that Tang Ling is leaving Atletico Madrid.

Tang Ling, who is in Chinese New Year's Eve, has played for Atletico for 12 years, winning two La Liga titles and one Champions League. Although it seems that the number of champions is small, considering that Tang Ling has been playing against super giants like Real Madrid and Barcelona with Atletico Madrid in the past 12 years, it is not easy to win two La Liga championships. In Europe, they have more opponents, so Tang Ling's achievements in Atletico Madrid over the years are definitely not low.

Over the past 12 years, he has scored 45 goals and provided 67 assists for Atletico. In the last two years at Atletico Madrid, Tang Ling became a substitute when he was older. Now the Atletico Madrid meritorious team is about to be a team, the club also thanks him for his contribution, and his teammates in the national team have also blessed him, Ma Junqiang and Huang Yu are calling for him to come over quickly in the United States, and Tang Ling also made it clear that his next stop is Major League Soccer.

Ma Junqiang wanted him to come to the Los Angeles Galaxy, Huang Yu wanted him to come to New York FC, Tang Ling decided to go to FC after thinking about it for a while. His reasoning was: "Huang Yuhe has two years left on his contract with New York FC, and Ma Junqiang has only one year left on his contract with LA Galaxy, so I think it would be better to go to FC." ”

When Ma Junqiang learned of this reason, he almost vomited blood: "Is this a reason?"

Tang Ling didn't reply, but Huang Yu replied with one word: "Count." ”

If Zhao Wenkang, who retired before, is also added, a total of four Chinese players have left mainstream football in the past three years, and I believe that there will be more and more in the future. So who will it be next year? Yan Tao, Chen Zihua, Xu Ziyi, or Li Mu?

All four are likely to have one year left on their contracts with the team. However, in comparison, Li Mu is the most likely, Chelsea is not like AC Milan, as we all know, the Rossoneri have always respected heroes, although there are many players who have not been able to play in Milan, but compared to other teams, Milan is very humane. Moreover, the Milan owner is Chinese, and it is not ruled out that he will take extra care of these four Chinese players.

However, there is one point that may be worth the attention of all Chinese fans, that is, as early as two years ago in the Asian Cup, this group of national football players said that they were not sure whether they would participate in the 2026 World Cup, when they said this, Chen Hui guessed that except for a very small number of Chinese players, more than half of the players should not appear in the next World Cup. Zhang Shujie also said: "Even if we really can't participate in the 2026 World Cup, we will definitely bring the Chinese team into the World Cup." As for the future, leave it to the young people. ”

Young people: Who? Who can compare with Zhang Shujie's gang? Definitely not. It's just that the replacement of the old and the new is a problem that can never be avoided in the world of sports. Zhang Shujie and his teammates can't play for the national team for the rest of their lives, and there will always be a day when they leave, but a little sooner than people expected.

But some other media speculated that the key to Zhang Shujie and others saying such things was An Rong's departure. This national football coach Prandley definitely wants new blood to join, even if he will not replace all the heroes of the previous edition, he will replace some of them. But who exactly will be replaced? No one can say for sure. And the attitude of Zhang Shujie's group is: Rather than you replace us in the future, it is better for us to take the initiative to withdraw. If you want to ask us to go, then we will definitely go, and there is no footballer in the world who can resist the temptation of the World Cup.

Prandelli does have such an idea, in the qualifiers, many veterans who won the World Cup have not been recruited into the national team, such as Tang Ling and Huang Yu have not played for the national team for a year and a half, Zhang Shujie, Li Mu, Chen Zihua, Xu Ziyi, Yan Tao These players also played very little, and they did not even appear in the same game at the same time. Ma Junqiang plays a little more, after all, the goalkeeper's physical consumption is not so high, and Ma Junqiang can still be competent.

Zhao Wenkang won't say it, he has announced his retirement, the national team has nothing to do with him, Liang Xiran and Xu Zhixin play a little more, and they will definitely play in the next World Cup.

Prandelli is still very bold, and in China, a country with few football resources, he dares to think about whether to replace these older top superstars, and other managers may not dare to do so, not even An Rong.

Presumably, Prandley thinks that now that there are more Asian places, it is not as big as before to enter the World Cup, even if there is no Zhang Shujie and others. This is true, Lin Li and other players still have some strength in Asia. But what about the World Cup? Maybe Prandley didn't think about it that much, and his goal was to bring the Chinese team in.

Now their eyes are back to AC Milan, they have invested a lot in the transfer market, bought a lot of demons, and now Zhang Shujie, Chen Zihua and others are still in the team, speed up the time for these veterans to bring those newcomers. Li Yonghong said: "I hope Milan can complete the replacement in two to three years. ”

However, these players bought by Milan have not brought much change to the team, the forward line is still relying on the 34-year-old Zhang Shujie, the midfielders Chen Zihua and Xu Ziyi are still indispensable, and the leader of the back line is still Yan Tao. The new arrivals are not yet integrated into the team. The future of Milan is not so easy to build. If it weren't for the team's still having stars such as Locatelli and Romagnoli, AC Milan might not have lasted long with those veterans who are over 33 years old.

AC Milan are currently in second place in the league and top of the group in the Champions League. However, many media are not very optimistic about AC Milan, and they can have such results, not by those new forces, but by Zhang Shujie's veterans.

On October 15, 2025, the Chinese team defeated Japan 3:2 in Shenyang and advanced to the finals of the 2026 World Cup. Interestingly, the 2026 World Cup is co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, which is also the first time in history that three countries will host the World Cup at the same time. As early as after the World Cup in South Korea and Japan, FIFA said that the World Cup would not be held by more than two countries in the future, but now it seems that FIFA is really a slap in the face.

And this World Cup has been expanded to 48 teams, but according to Infantino, from the group stage to the final, there will be a maximum of seven. In terms of the number of matches, there is no change from the previous 32 teams.

The Chinese team successfully entered the World Cup, but how many of these veterans will really appear in the United States next summer? I'm afraid not much, Tang Ling and Huang Yu can basically be sure that they can't go, and even Li Mu and Yan Tao are hanging, the key is that the two of them have been injured recently, and Prandley will not go to North America with two injuries.

Maybe it's really time for the Chinese team to be renewed.
