Chapter 19 Public Cheating
The next day was Saturday, and in general, students went to breakfast late. Today, however, is exceptional. When Hermione arrived, she saw more than twenty people gathered there, several of them still eating bread, all of them carefully examining the Goblet of Fire. The cup was placed in the center of the foyer, on the same stool where the Sorting Hat was customary. A thin gold line was drawn on the floor, ten feet long on each side, and the cup was enclosed in the middle.
"Did anyone put a name in?" Ron asked a third-year girl eagerly.
"Yes, all the representatives of Durmstrang," she replied, "but I haven't seen anyone sign up at Hogwarts." ”
"It's strange how there isn't a Slytherin. Hermione looked at the Slytherin table, which was empty.
"Whatever. Ron said disapprovingly.
Someone behind Harry laughed. He looked back and saw Fred, George, and Lee Jordan hurrying down the stairs, all three of them looking extremely excited.
"It's done," Fred whispered to Harry, Ron, and Hermione in a smug tone, "just drank it." ”
"What?" asked Ron.
"Age-enhancer, stupid. Fred said.
"A drop from each of them," said George, rubbing his hands together with joy, "we just need a few more months to grow." ”
"If any of us wins, the thousand galleons will be divided equally among three people. Lee said, smiling happily.
"I don't think it's going to work," Hermione reminded, "I'm sure Dumbledore will have thought about that." ”
"Are you ready?" said Fred to the other two, trembling with excitement, "Come on, then—I'll go in first—"
Under the gaze of every pair of eyes in the hallway, he took a deep breath and stepped over the line.
For a moment, Harry thought Fred had succeeded—George must have thought so—and he let out a triumphant shout and jumped forward after Fred—but then there was a sizzling sound, and the twins were tossed out of the golden ring, as if an unseen shot put player had thrown them out. They fell in agony to the cold, stone floor ten feet away, and they were humiliated in addition to the physical pain. With a loud popping sound, the two men had identical white beards on their chins.
The people in the foyer burst into laughter. Even Fred and George couldn't help but laugh when they got up and saw each other's white beards.
Fred and George had left for the hospital, and Lee Jordan had gone with him, still laughing profusely, and Harry, Ron, and Hermione were giggling and had gone into the auditorium for breakfast.
Only then did a few Slytherin students appear in the auditorium. They behaved strangely, directing the plates on the table with a levitation charm, and slowly floated out of the auditorium with them.
"Don't be surprised, I think they must all be waiting for Phoenix in the common room - he made up his mind to play, I think he's figured it out. Philip said to his friends.
"Then they'll have to wait, he won't get up so early—" Hermione said as she turned to Philip, and then thought of something, and said no more.
"Well—Hermione, it seems, you know him well, and you even know his habits. Philip's words were pointed. But Hermione ignored him and continued to eat her breakfast.
"How do you know that Peverell doesn't wake up early. Ron asked, feigning nonchalance.
"Because of the summer vacation, he invited me to his house to play. Hermione shrugged and lowered her head to continue drinking the porridge. I didn't see the roots of Ron's ears flushed.
Because it's Halloween, a swarm of live bats fly around the enchanted ceiling, while hundreds of tiny pumpkin figures squint at every corner. Dean and Seamus, who were sitting next to them, were discussing the Hogwarts students over the age of seventeen who might be competing in the tournament.
"The Hufflepuff classmates are talking about Diggory," Seamus said dismissively, "but I don't think he's willing to risk his looks." ”
"Listen!" Hermione said suddenly.
Loud cheers erupted from the foyer outside. Everyone turned around in their seats, only to see Angelina Johnson walk into the auditorium, grinning a little embarrassed. She was a tall, dark-skinned girl who played as a chaser for the Gryffindor Quidditch team. Angelina walked over to them, sat down and said, "Ah, I'm done!
"You're kidding!" Ron said, looking surprised.
"So, are you seventeen?"
"Needless to say, you don't see a beard, do you?" said Ron.
"My birthday last week. Angelina said.
"Ah, I'm so glad Gryffindor finally had someone attending. Hermione said, "I really hope you succeed, Angelina!"
"Thanks, Hermione. Angelina said, smiling at Hermione.
"yes, I'd rather be you than that creamy little boy Diggory. Seamus said, his words causing several Hufflepuff students passing by their table to glare at him angrily.
Beauxbatons' students were coming in through the front door from the field, and among them was the girl who looked like a baby. Those gathered around the Goblet of Fire stepped back, letting them through, and watched eagerly.
Madame Maxim followed her students into the foyer and ordered them to line up. One by one, the students of Buchbaton crossed the age line and threw their parchment into a blue-and-white flame. When each name is thrown into the flames, the flames quickly turn red and burst out with sparks.
"What happens to those who don't get chosen?" Ron whispered to Harry as the girl, who resembled a girl, threw her parchment note into the Goblet of Fire, "Are they going back to their school, or are they going to stay here and watch the game?"
"I don't know," said Harry, "I guess it's here to stay—Madame Maxime is still going to be a referee here, isn't she?"
When all the students had signed up, Madame Maxim led them out of the foyer and back to the field outside.
In the afternoon, it was raining lightly, and they felt so comfortable sitting by the warm fire and listening to the rain gently pounding on the glass windows.
"Come to the foyer, Peverell is going to try to sign up. "A fifth-grader burst in, breaking the peace of the Gryffindor common room. Phoenix is not only a representative of Slytherin, he has many deeds that have made him well known in other houses as well. After being awarded the Order of Merlin in his third year, he overtook Harry Potter and became recognized as the number one person at Hogwarts.
By the time they arrived, the foyer had been fenced out, and most of the seniors had grabbed a good spot by virtue of their physical fitness. Probably because of the House honor, the Slytherins took up a large area, and those who came late could only stand on the nearby steps and watch from a distance.
"How is he going to cross the age line? We all know that age boosters don't work. "The students were talking, and the whole foyer was noisy. Durmstrang also had a few people in the city, and the Slytherins generously gave them a few front-row spots.
"It's coming. Draco shouted loudly, and Phoenix's footsteps were steady after him, looking at the sight obviously stunned, he didn't expect so many people.
The silence came so suddenly. Phoenix strode over to the age line, his right hand raised to shoulder height. As a flame appeared, Eden stood steadily in his hands. He tapped his wand lightly at the phoenix and whispered a spell.
It turned into a flame again and began to spread, leaving people stunned. The right hand, neck, head, and torso were soon wrapped in flames, and he became a burning man.
He lifted his foot and stepped across the line.
Came over for a moment, nothing happened.
"Oh - I forgot to write parchment," Phoenix said, turning, "who has a quill and parchment." ”
Everyone was stunned. Several students who reacted immediately ran to the common room, "It's a little embarrassing." ”
"Here you go. Daphne boldly handed it to him, and the moment they touched, Daphne only felt warm and not the slightest sense of heat.
"Thank you. "Phoenix writes names and schools quickly. Crossing the age barrier again, he raised his hand and threw the parchment into the Goblet of Fire, throwing it into a blue-white flame. The flames quickly turned red and burst out with sparks.
It worked!
The Slytherins cheered loudly, and the cheers were deafening. It's as if they've won the Triwizard Tournament for Hogwarts. Gryffindor and Hufflepuff were applauded.
Phoenix left the golden age boundary, the flames disappeared in the blink of an eye, and he held Eden in his arms. One person and one pet are obviously tired, and the usually dignified and beautiful phoenix can't even stand independently. Phoenix put his arm around Draco and Eden in the other, gasping for air.
"I knew you could," Melinda kissed him excitedly, "Let's go back and let him rest." ”
Soul Link, this soul-like magic that doesn't require energy from the Void. It was a brief fusion of two souls, and in just a few minutes, he had a phoenix-like near-eternal lifespan, and the trace disappeared. But it is a great burden for the souls of both sides, and only the master-servant relationship and different types of souls can use such magic. He predicted that by the time he reached adulthood, he would have enough magic to last longer, and he would be able to use a few or a few special spells unique to Phoenix.
At half-past five, it was getting dark, and Ron, Harry, and Hermione decided they should return to the castle for the Halloween feast and, more importantly, the announcement of the school warriors.
