Chapter 103: Welcome to America
Washington is the capital of the United States, and the city is not as lively as it used to be at this time. Pen & Fun & Pavilion www.biquge.info police lights flickered silently, and a few helicopters flew in the sky from time to time. The whistling sound of the propeller running low in the air is the only background sound.
Ike is just an ordinary police officer, patrolling the streets every day or mediating conflicts caused by walking his dog, and as a recent graduate, this is not what he hopes to get a job. He had planned to hand over his resignation letter to the sheriff after his last shift today.
The sudden sound of the air raid siren disrupted everything, and everyone panicked and took refuge according to the standard. In the evening, they were notified that martial law was imposing a curfew throughout the country.
He and several colleagues were on duty on the streets, tasked with preventing crowds from taking to the streets and preventing unrelated people from entering the blocks behind them.
"Ike, what did you say happened?" said Ike's colleague mysteriously.
"I don't know. You're going to start bragging again. Ike yawned late at night, and he hoped Sheriff Hudson would get his coffee soon.
"Is this time really good," the colleague ignored Ike's look of disbelief, "My cousin told me before the communication was cut off that something was wrong in New York. β
He ends dramatically and doesn't have any effect.
"Great, alien attack. β
"It's not impossible," he said, a large number of fighter jets flew towards New York. The highway was crowded with cars, and tanks hurried down the guardrail and headed out of the field towards the city. He nodded excitedly, "Something big must have happened, right?"
"Jimmy, if there's no big deal, why are we running here in the middle of the night. Ike scratched his forehead with his fingertips, "Maybe it's a military exercise, or maybe the Soviets are calling." It's not like it hasn't happened to us in recent years, but the army marched into the city -- if we really fought with the Soviet Union, we would have eaten nuclear bombs, huh?"
There was not a single ghost on the street, and the two had nothing to do but idle. Ike believes that what Jimmy heard is true, which is hard to understand. Something big happened, the army needed to be dispatched.
"It's really a big deal, I tell you. Jimmy said triumphantly, seeing that Ike was also interested, he had a look of wanting to know more and trying to please me.
"Shut up if you don't say anything. β
"Well," Jimmy was immediately deflated, "my cousin is on the outskirts of New York City, you knowβhe saw a few pillars of fire rising from the city, and a dragon. β
"Dragon?" Ike raised an eyebrow.
"Yes, the look from the story, the legendary creature. Oh, I know what the government is always hiding, and they won't say a word to us, even if something happens. I bet you, tomorrow they'll say some kind of nonsense about gas explosions, military exercises, or anything like that. β
"Okay, so what's going on? What happened to the dragon?" Ike said jokingly, resuming his watchful expression, "It's not going to run away." β
"My cousin said he might have been killed by the army. They set up a cordon around the city to keep people out of the way. Soon after, a group of helicopters went in with a large container and flew away with it, surely carrying the dragon's corpse. β
"Good evening, two officers. Suddenly, a cold voice came from behind them.
Ike turned nervously, his hand on the holster. The man was strange, although there was nothing unusual about his outfit except for a bit of a retro style. With meticulously groomed black hair and sharp blue eyes, standing there gives a sense of aggression. But he just didn't feel well.
"Is there anything wrong, sir?" asked Ike.
He didn't wonder that someone came here on a big night. In fact, they have international agencies and several regional government agencies behind them, and there are not a few people who need to rush back to their offices after martial law, and they need to be taken in by insiders. It turned out that there were five police officers on this street, and those two were borrowed by other, busier streets with national administrations.
The street was just before the sun went down, and only a few people passed by him. One of the women, who was clearly not dressed as a staff member, was ushered in by a guy in a suit and leather shoes. Jimmy bet that it was to prepare for the long night. Those big international institutions don't care about the United States, they still sing and dance, unlike they can only freeze here.
"Yes, I'm a member of the council, and two people are coming to the meeting, and I'm here to bring them in. With that, he took out a piece of paper from his leather pocket and handed it to Ike.
Whether it is a release order or a temporary permit or something like that, and what kind of meeting the city council holds, the SAR government's powers are pitifully small. Ike took it and found that it wasn't, a blank piece of paper.
"Confusing!" was the last thing Ike heard.
Two figures walked down the bushes by the side of the road. Under the dim street lamp, I miss a down-and-out father, leading his children through the streets, looking for a place where they can spend the night.
"George. β
"Phoenix. Welcome to the United States. A large figure greeted the two glazed-eyed police officers cordially. Phoenix turned to the prime minister and said, "I said, I'll find a way, even if I haven't been to the United States." β
The Prime Minister swallowed his anger, and they walked around in the cold wind for half an hour, because Phoenix was lost and he didn't know the way. It really didn't surprise him at all, wizards were so nervous, if this meeting was half as important as he said, then how could such a low-level mistake be allowed.
Seeing the expressions of the two officers, he asked uncertainly.
"Are they okay?"
"Prime Minister No-Maji," George sarcastically smacked.
"I am the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. "The Prime Minister said that the Majj was righteous, and you could guess that it meant the same as a Muggle without asking. But he felt insulted, a word that was deeply discriminatory and insulting.
"Relax, we still need to go to the meeting. "Phoenix is between the two to avoid further conflict. George turned disdainfully and walked ahead. Phoenix beckons two cups of coffee and a plate of hot dogs to put in the police car.
"Is it appropriate for you to pick us up, you left the Muggle president alone in Parliament?" Phoenix walked side by side with the Prime Minister, with George leading the way in front.
"He could handle it, in fact, he wished I had stayed away from him. George said respectfully, just like the prime minister he had just done, "His men tried to take the dragon's corpse away, but we stopped him. I told him to give the men an order at once, not to touch anything, but to go back and forth, as if we weren't in trouble enough, and that the report had not yet been completed, and that it would take a lot of time to clear the site. β
"You should have been friendly with Muggles a long time ago, and good communication in a matter like this would have been valuable, wouldn't it? Phoenix winked at the Prime Minister.
"I remember you all have connections to Muggles in your own area?" the Prime Minister clearly remembered Fudge saying that after the ISA separated the two worlds, there was still high-level dealings with each other.
"The situation in the United States is a special one. Phoenix was clearly reluctant to say more. They walked through a dark alley and onto another street. There were no people, no shops, only a particularly bright incandescent lamp, and the windows of the buildings next to it were nailed with wooden planks. It was dark and looked like a park.
But in the eyes of Phoenix and George, it was a different picture entirely.
A splendid and imposing building with a boxy shape and several marble columns extending from the roof to the ground.
"I can walk on my own, thank you. The Prime Minister suddenly noticed that Phoenix had come to an unknown point, grabbed his arm, and led him towards a security room that was becoming more and more visible in front of him - there really was a park.
"No, Prime Minister. The place is enchanted, and as soon as I let go of your hand you'll run away like a rabbit - a measure to prevent Muggles from inadvertently entering the enchanted area. Just wait for us to go in. β
George came to the door of the security room and knocked rhythmically. After whispering a few words, the scene in front of the Prime Minister changed suddenly. (To be continued.) )
