Chapter 25: The Discovery of Magic

Rita Skeeter's article about the Triwizard Tournament was published the next day. This article is not so much a report on the tournament as it is a review of Phoenix's accolades. A large part of the first page of the newspaper was occupied by a photograph of Phoenix, and the entire article was about Phoenix, up to the second, sixth, and seventh pages. The names of Beauxbatons and Durmstrang Warriors are squeezed into the last line of the article, and they are misspelled. The section about Harry was filmed in the third and fifth editions. The entire book is a depiction of Harry's personal life.

I think it was my parents who gave me strength. I know they would be very proud of me if they could see me now. - Yes, there are times at night when I still cry for them, and I don't think it's a shame to admit it. --I know nothing can hurt me in the game, because they are guarding me in the dark.-

Ever since this article appeared, Harry had to put up with the cynicism of people, mostly Slytherin students, quoting the passage as he passed by.

"Do you want a handkerchief, Potter, lest you weep in Transfiguration class?"

On the Saturday before the first program began, the school approved the trips to Hogsmeade for students from Year 3 onwards. Phoenix convened PA members on an ad hoc basis to share some of his recent findings.

"As you all know, I'm going to prepare for the competition, and I've decided to give you more theory this semester with all sorts of questions. "Phoenix sat by the fire.

"You know, what the first project was?" asked Friedhelm.

"Of course, I already knew. I've been—"

"What? I was going to tell you secretly, but my mother only sent me in the morning. Philip was annoyed.

"What is it?" Hermione asked with concern.

"You'll know on the day of the game, or you can ask Philip. Phoenix rubbed his ears and said.

"I don't know, have you ever thought about a question. Why do we use a wand to cast spells? Why can we be children without a wand and grow up without it? "Phoenix is one of the few people who stands.

"When I was on vacation, I was thinking - when I was a kid I used to be able to fly objects without a wand, and now there's no reason why I can't. Finally I found the reason," he said, placing his wand on his chair and spreading his palms, "Flames!"

A fireball appeared out of thin air above the palm of the hand, a few centimeters away. "I can do it, and so can you. ”

Everyone looked at him dumbfounded, speechless in surprise.

With a wave of his hand, the flames vanished. "When we were children, we couldn't actually control our magic as we wanted, it always came when we were emotional, when we wanted to get rid of something, when we changed something, magic came in. ”

"Because our magic is divergent and surrounds us like air. But they can only become the spells we know when they come together or undergo certain changes, and the wand serves to bring them together. If our minds are focused enough, strong enough for them to gather—" Phoenix waved his hand at a glass of chilled lemonade, "we can cast spells out of thin air without a wand." ”

They listened so intently that they forgot to take notes. "This is my guess, as far as my personal experiments are concerned. My theory is valid. However, it needs more wizards to verify this. After all, this cannot be observed with the naked eye, but it is not as good as imagined, and casting spells without a wand is unstable, and only in special cases can it have unexpected effects. ”

"You've all mastered it, silent spell. "You can put your wand aside and try to make the parchment float, it's my first spell I can use without a wand." ”

Everyone immediately did so, and everyone's faces turned red. A student staring at the parchment as if he couldn't do the final exam questions. Phoenix really wanted to find someone to try his theory. He can't guarantee that the magic that succeeds in himself can be used by others.

"Moved—just moved, see?" said Philip triumphantly.

"I think it's the wind blowing—"

In the end, no one succeeded, and everyone was a little disappointed. Phoenix encourages them to practice often when they do small things.

"Don't expect a new attempt to pay off in one go. But do you see a question?" everyone looked at each other, only Hermione thoughtful.

"It was long ago that it was almost impossible for people to cast spells without a wand as they did in their childhood. At the time, it occurred to someone that casting spells in childhood was very different from casting spells after owning a wand. When we were young, we could cast spells without chanting spells, which can be seen as casting spells without a wand, and it also has a bit of a silent spell. After touching the wand, we regress and need to recite the incantation with precision while holding the wand. ”

"For this reason, many experiments have been devised in the hope of finding out why this is the case, and in the end nothing has been obtained except that it is safer and more efficient to cast spells with a wand," said Phoenix, lazily in his recliner. I think it's okay to think differently. Magic surrounds us like air, so it must be some form of energy that cannot be perceived or observed with the naked eye. At this stage, people can only guess, not observe. So there's something we don't know about the relationship between magic, wands, and wizards—"

Phoenix gushes about assumptions and cites theories from his predecessors. Everyone was confused, and many words were completely incomprehensible. He also noticed this and looked at the time.

"Well, you won't understand what I'm saying too much, you shouldn't be limited to books in the library now, you should also be involved in highly academic magazines such as Defence Against the Dark Arts Weekly and Frontier Observer. I hope that you will think hard about today's topic and draw your own conclusions -- use your imagination. You don't have to write it down—"

On the way back to the common room, Melinda and Nott want Phoenix to open up a small stove for them and tell them some 'secret tricks' alone.

"I've only been successful for a short time, where did you get the means?" Phoenix rolled his eyes at them.

"What are you going to do with the first project," Noether was no longer bothering with the problem of casting spells without a wand, "They shouldn't let you fight dragons, right?"

"Who knows, depending on their arrangement, my magic should be enough to handle it. ”

As the days passed, the rhetoric about Harry gradually cooled. Attention quickly focused on the competition and the star-chasing, and Rum sometimes ran to the library, he never looked for trouble, and read quietly, but often there were groups of female students hiding behind the bookshelves to spy on him.

Fortunately for Phoenix, most of the Hogwarts students knew him, and he was still a few years away from graduating, and after the enthusiasm subsided, except for a few Beauxbatons and Durmstrang students who were always with him and looked for opportunities to get to know him, peace returned to his surroundings.
