Chapter 14: Breaking the Barrier
Drinking the blood of a unicorn alive can temporarily extend the lifespan of a living being. That figure obviously had this intention as well, and if Harry was not mistaken, the Philosopher's Stone was really at Hogwarts, then that person's ultimate goal must also be the Philosopher's Stone. If the Philosopher's Stone is really guarded on the third floor, it is very inappropriate. The Philosopher's Stone was undoubtedly the safest place on Dumbledore's body, but he had the three-headed dog guarded it, and even if there were other obstacle traps, the level set by Hagrid alone was already extremely suspicious. With Hagrid's coarse nerves, this level is equivalent to giving it away for nothing.
What the hell did Dumbledore want to do?
The ensuing exams made him put aside the Philosopher's Stone for the time being. The written test was held in a large and stuffy classroom, and it was inhumane to write papers in a large and stuffy classroom when the sun was shining in the summer. Although the content of the written test was a piece of cake for Phoenix.
Practical exams, except for Professor Snape's Potions exam, which was the most depressing, the other exams were not bad. Professor Flitwick's exam consisted of having a pineapple tap dance across a desk, and Phoenix had his pineapple sing and tap dance and waltz across the desk, much to Professor Flitwick's applause.
Professor McGonagall asked them to turn a rat into a snuffboxβthe more beautiful the box, the higher the score. Phoenix has turned the mouse into an elegant snuffbox with silver patterns around the edges and a watch on the front that tells the time.
After taking the last exam in the history of magic, they can finally play unattended for a whole week.
"Why do you want to get the Philosopher's Stone first?" Phoenix suddenly felt that this was Dumbledore's purpose, and let Harry play the game.
"Snape already knows how to get through Lowe and Voldemort will be back and Hogwarts will cease to exist. Professor McGonagall didn't believe us, Professor Dumbledore had gone to the Ministry of Magic - I dare say it must have been a ruse, and the Ministry would have been shocked to see him. Harry said excitedly. Next to Ron and Hermione heard his name a spirit.
"Oh, you really think Professor Snape isn't a good guy. Phoenix scratched his forehead, "But isn't Voldemort dead?"
Professor Dumbledore didn't believe he was dead, he said that the mystery man would come back sooner or later. I think he's been wary-"
"Whatever he says, you believe?"
The three of them didn't know what to say for a while, and they were all stunned.
"But it would be nice if we could get the Philosopher's Stone. It's rare, I've never seen it before. Let's start with it, I'm going to keep some of it private - if we get it first. β
"Professor Dumbledore will surely know, you can't do that. Hermione said.
"It's okay, let's just say that Ron accidentally knocked off a piece-"
"Why me?" said Ron, huffing.
"Because you're the most sloppy of all of us, the professor won't doubt it. With that, Phoenix led the way to the fourth floor, regardless of whether they agreed to his proposal or not.
"Stop Snape first. Harry thought it was bad, at least he was willing to help. Harry thought to himself, and when the time came, he would try to persuade him. They hurried to catch up.
Outside the hallway on the fourth floor, the door had already opened a crack.
"See, Snape has passed through Lowe without a hitch. Harry whispered.
Pushing open the door, a low bark rang in their ears.
"Look, it's like a harp," said Ron, "it must have been left by Snape." β
"Get up," Phoenix told them to step aside, "the music echoes!"
The harp began to play a light tune of its own accord, and the big dog's eyes began to shrug downward, and he staggered a few times, and fell into a deep sleep on his knees.
The four of them gathered together and looked at the bottomless hole. There was no ladder to jump on, and Harry volunteered to be the first to go down.
He slowly descended the cave and looked up to Phoenix and said, "If anything happens to me, don't come down." Go straight to the owl's hut and send Hedwig to deliver a letter to Dumbledore, okay?"
"Okay. β
"It's going to be fine. Ron looked a little scared. Harry vanished from their eyes in the blink of an eye.
After a while, Harry's voice came from below, "No problem, you can come down." β
All three jumped at once.
"Thankfully, there are these plants here. Ron said.
"It's the devil's web. As soon as Phoenix finished speaking, the vines wrapped around their legs like snakes. Hermione yelled at them to stop struggling, but Ron still tried desperately to tear the vines off, but the more he broke free, the tighter the vines became entangled.
"The flames are blazing!"
The vines quickly retreated from the light and scorching flames, and in a matter of seconds, they were free.
"It's common sense that the devil's net is afraid of fire, and you should really read more books. With that, Phoenix flicked the dust off his robes and led the way down the stone corridor.
They descended the hallway, the sound of footsteps and the sound of water dripping slowly.
"What's the sound?" Hermione asked in a whisper.
"Ghosts?"
"It's the voice of the wings. Harry wasn't so sure.
"Yes, it should be. Phoenix agreed with Harry.
They came to a brightly lit room, where countless brilliant birds flew about beneath the vaulted ceiling, and a heavy wooden door was on the opposite side of the room.
"Professor Flitwick's spells, these are supposed to be the keys, but only one is true. Harry is up to you. β
"Okay. "As the youngest Quidditch Seeker in a hundred years, it's not that hard for him. After a while, Harry grabbed the key to the difference on a battered broomstick.
Caught twice, it looked emaciated.
The second room was pitch black, and nothing could be seen. But as soon as they stepped in, the brazier around them suddenly burst into flames. They stood on a huge chessboard.
"We had to play chess to get to the other end of the room. Ron affirmed.
He had a way to pass directly through the board, but it needed to be supported by a powerful magical magnetic field, which was not yet available to his eleven-year-old body.
"Which of you is good at chess?"
Harry and Hermione both looked at Ron, who was flushed as much as his hair.
"Ron, come on, we're running out of time. β
I have to admit that Ron is good, and every time he can find their dangerous situation in time and find a way to relieve them. They charge on the board, capturing almost as many white pieces as they lose.
In the end, Ron sacrificed himself to make Harry checkmate, and Phoenix left Hermione behind to take Ron to the school hospital.
Now Phoenix thinks it might really be, Dumbledore designed it. The levels are not difficult, and they fit well with the abilities of the people around Harry.
He and Harry continued to walk forward, pushing open a doorway, and a disgusting stench came over their noses, and they had to lift their clothes to cover their noses. A troll lay motionless on the floor, a large, bloody lump on its head.
"Luckily. β
Harry pulled open the next door, and there was only a table with seven bottles of different shapes and a piece of parchment.
"Professor Snape's magic. "Phoenix affirmed, crossing the threshold. A flame rose behind him, sealing the exit. The road leading to the front also burst into black flames.
"It seems that this is a logical reasoning. Phoenix glanced at it and said, "Look at it." β
"Well, you can untie it, right? Harry looked at it a few times, clearly not getting it.
"Well, the smallest one will help you through the flames, and this round bottle will return to the room you just had. Less than a minute later, Phoenix, holding two potions, said to Harry.
Harry snatched the smallest bottle, "You write to Dumbledore as soon as you get back, I might be able to contain Snape." Without waiting for Phoenix to reply, he drank the potion in one gulp and rushed into the fire.
"Young people are really impulsive. β
The black flames weren't as ferocious as they might seem, and a simple Freezing Spell could get past them. After confirming that his invisibility spell was flawless, Phoenix also stepped into the fire.
