Act 11: The Celestial Beast
The giant beast that roamed the sky was covered in scales, and its four huge fins slowly swayed, causing its huge body to gradually turn, and on the back of the giant beast was gray and white masonry on the grass-covered surface, and in the center of it was a row of buildings and radiating roads, and in the center of the city, a towering minaret stood as if it had never changed. The fiery red sunset, the cloudless clear sky, the endless desert, and the huge whales and bustling cities swimming in the sky constitute a shocking scene, which makes all those who see it for the first time have a throbbing in their hearts.
"I've read it in a book before, but it's still quite shocking to see it for the first time. β
On the side, Tia said with great interest, she didn't seem to show much surprise at the giant beast in the sky and the majestic city on its back.
"This is Ishtar?"
Although Rosen has seen many fantastical things since he came to this world, this is the first time he has seen the giant beast floating in the sky and the bustling city on its back.
It's no wonder that the direction of the Rainbow Key has been changing, not because it is itself disturbed, but because the city of Istar itself will move.
"This behemoth's name is Ishtar, and it is an alchemical creature created by the Rainbow Tower and the Templar many years ago. β
Tia clearly knew a lot about these things, and she opened her mouth to explain, causing the merchants around her to turn their heads to listen.
"In this great desert with bad weather, it is quite difficult to build a city in the sand, so those mages and priests came up with this method, since there is no way to build a city on the earth, then build a city in the sky. β
"The control center of Istar is located in the Ruling Hall of Istar and is jointly managed by the three patriarchs, only the three of them are present at the same time to directly control this giant beast, and the rest of the time, it will cruise according to the established route, and everyone does not have to worry about any accidents. β
Saston looked at Tia with a hint of approval in his eyes, and he explained, then looked back at the beast.
"Istar has the most advanced defensive circle, and the Templar has forces stationed in it, which can be considered the safest place in this desert. β
"But how do we get there, I can't fly. β
Someone asked, as if he had not yet recovered from the shocking scenery.
"Don't worry, every day at dusk, Ishtar will land on the sand for a while, and we will ascend this glorious city at that time. β
Holland explained, not letting the camel stop.
"Ishtar isn't moving fast, and if we can see it now, then we can catch up, but we need to speed up a little bit and get up early. β
At Holland's urging, the caravan did not stop, chasing Istal.
He was right, Ishtar's movement speed could indeed be described as slow, and in everyone's view, the giant beast grew bigger and bigger, and soon, they stepped into the shadow of Isttar.
With a low roar, Ishtar began to descend slowly, and Rosen saw several convoys of various sizes heading towards Ishtar from all directions, and it seemed that these were all people who were about to enter the city.
Boom -
Ishtar landed lightly on a flat sandy ground, its heavy body not directly touching the ground, but hovering at a height.
"So, how do we get up?"
Rosen asked, if he didn't think the city would climb up, and there were no ladders or anything like that on the behemoth.
"From there. β
Tia glanced at Lawson with a slight disgust, then pointed to the behemoth's belly.
A door opened there.
From the belly of Isttar, a door slowly opened, and from it a wide platform was lowered, large enough to accommodate all the caravans surrounding Isttar, and it seemed that this was the means of entering Isttar.
Following the others into the beneath the beast, Lawson was honestly uncomfortable, after all, it was not a pleasant feeling to have an entire city suspended no more than five yards overhead, especially for those who were seeing Ishtar for the first time.
Tia, however, didn't bother with it, and rode into the platform with the caravan, seemingly unafraid that the beast would fall and kill herself.
"Okay. β
Lawson shook his head and followed.
He found that there were spiral stairs at the four corners of the platform that led to the top of the torch light, and it seemed that if he had no luggage, he could go in first.
Naturally, he was not in a hurry, the beast would not be able to put away the platform for some time, and between Ishar and the desert, people walked like ants, showing a scene of toiling in the golden sunset.
In addition to the first arrivals like them, other caravans arrived one after another, and the composition of these merchants was much more complex than the bazaar of the Ultramarine Fortress, and the number of races other than humans was much larger.
Rosen even helped a few of the little El men move a few boxes of heavy goods, and was paid a few pieces of gingerbread for it.
There was nothing he could do about the food, but Tia's eyes widened at the sight of the gingerbread, and she snatched it almost half-coquettishly, swallowing it in the blink of an eye, completely ignoring her ladylike image.
Night fell as the last rays of light faded below the horizon.
"Attention, it's up!"
A loud voice came, and within a quarter of an hour Rosen felt a shake under his feet.
The feeling of being overweight lasted only for a moment, and only the crunching of gears could be heard, and the entire platform had come to the inside of the behemoth's body.
It is a spacious hall.
The firelight, which had previously seemed a little dim in the desert sun, was now dazzling, illuminating the entire hall.
Rosen saw that the dome of the hall was a complex geometric pattern, and there was a trace of order in the chaos, presumably from the hand of the design master, and the hall had several wide roads connecting everywhere, and Rosen saw Holland and the others moving to the side, so he also followed.
"Do you think that the so-called Istar is nothing more than a part of the beast's back?"
As if to see through Rosen's inner thoughts, Tia sat next to the coachman, shaking her legs with the rotation of the wheels, looking innocent and cute.
"Then you are too naΓ―ve, Ishtar refers to the huge city including the entire body of the giant beast, and those on the back are only a small piece, the real Istar is in the body of this giant beast. β
As he spoke, the convoy seemed to have arrived in a more open area.
Lawson's eyes lit up, and the torch-lit passage disappeared suddenly, replaced by a starry night sky.
Looking up, the starlight is like waves swaying in the sea, and in the clear night sky, three moons are shining.
And under the moonlight, it is an incomparably prosperous downtown area, which is not silent because of the coming of night, but is brightly lit and people come and go.
The breeze blew, and Lawson didn't feel that it was inside the beast, but more like it was in a bustling city somewhere.
"Welcome to Ishtar, the capital of sand, the city of gold and wine. β
By Rosen's side, Tia whispered.
