Act VII. Master Heidegger

Greenwich morning came early, in the midst of the steam, the shops put up signs, and the whole city gradually woke up to the daily banging and banging again.

In the city square, people from all over the world are looking for opportunities, either with treasures from all over the continent in their hands, or with their own days of research and development, eager to sell those things for a good price.

This is the daily life of this Kobo city, and little has changed over the years.

In this unchanging routine, a steam carriage drove by, making a noisy sound that made several passers-by frown slightly, but after seeing the coat of arms on the carriage, they did not dare to say anything.

It was the carriage of the master craftsmen of the Artisan League.

The steam engine roared through the street and reached the side of the square, in front of a rather imposing building.

The building, shaped like a nut, loomed in the mist, but few passers-by would stop to look at it, as they all knew that it was the headquarters of the Artisan Union.

The carriage stopped in front of the building, where an El craftsman was holding a statue of a wrench, made entirely of bronze, and displayed the skill of the El craftsmen.

From the car, an old man of the El clan wearing a noble dress stepped down.

He wasn't tall, just the size of a human child, his hands and feet were short, and he looked a little bloated, just the size of the average El.

The old man wore monocles, a top hat on his head, and a shiny cane in his hand, and looked like an old gentleman.

He pulled a pocket watch out of his breast pocket, opened it to check the time, then nodded in satisfaction before heading down to the building.

But he had barely taken two steps when he saw another steam carriage coming, and from above, three people came down.

The two El men were familiar to him, and the tall man who was clearly not an El had heard of it.

Watching the three of them get out of a carriage, the old gentleman frowned, and then shouted.

"Swift, you and Taylor have to pay attention to the image. ”

He looked at the two master craftsmen, and the clothes on them were still the coarse cloth overalls they had used to work, and they were covered with oil stains and looked dirty.

"Good morning, Master Heidegger. ”

Taylor saluted, the Heidegger Master was one of the rotating chairmen, who was quite prestigious in Greenwich, and was one of the people they were trying to convince today.

"I heard that you guys have been messing around with something recently, I remember that the two of you didn't have a good relationship before, didn't you?"

Heidegger asked, looking at Swift and Taylor as if they were brothers at the moment, he was a little puzzled.

He clearly remembered that although Taylor and Swift were in the opposite door, the two of them had very little intersection, even at the monthly meeting of the Craftsmen's Union, there was almost no dialogue, and there were arguments in the few conversations, so Heidegger thought that the relationship between the two men was very poor.

"No, I'm the best friend of Master Swift right now, aren't we? ”

Taylor patted Swift on the shoulder, causing the old craftsman to smile a little unnaturally.

Compared to Taylor, Swift is clearly the kind of person who is not good at words, and he only has the most basic respect for Heidegger.

"That's good, and hopefully you'll have a great report today. ”

Heidegger snorted, and then walked into the building on his own, glancing at Lawson and not saying anything more.

"He is one of the rotating chairmen, and he has a good face, but he is not bad in other aspects. ”

Taylor whispered to Rosen.

"Let's get in quickly, since Master Heidegger has arrived, then the meeting is about to begin, and we can't be late today. ”

The three of them walked forward quickly, through the corridor to a huge conference room, when they entered, they could see that there were already many people seated here, and some of them were unexpected, not all the people in the conference room were El, there were many humans and even the Firut people who were discussing in low voices on their seats, and the presence of such an existence as Rosen here did not cause much commotion.

Relying on his strong perception, Rosen probably figured out the identities of these people, except for a few master craftsmen who were indeed of different races, the rest were basically representatives of merchants who had business dealings with Greenwich.

These representatives of the merchants, who have settled in the city of workshops, are invited to the monthly meetings of the Artisan Confederation to learn about the latest technologies from Greenwich and to inform the headquarters of the company on whether or not to invest in a particular technology.

The master craftsmen and some craftsmen with outstanding skills will report the research progress every month, on the one hand, to exchange academics, and on the other hand, to strive for more investment.

In a way, this is similar to how Rosen's previous university professors co-opted for research funding.

Not long after they sat down, with a long bell, the meeting officially began.

First of all, the rotating chairmen briefed on the recent things that need to be paid attention to in the city, and then the first master craftsman began to report on the results.

Some people's reports are very simple, just a few sentences, and some people are very long, lasting nearly a quarter of an hour, those simple people are mostly research has no progress or the research and development cycle is very long, and complex people, generally just established or has been basically completed.

During this period, there were presentations by several ordinary craftsmen, and it can be seen that most of them were very nervous, and the results were a little rough.

Merchants and other master craftsmen would discuss privately from time to time, and it can be seen that there are several master craftsmen who should be regarded as popular figures, and their publication time is not short, and the response is relatively enthusiastic.

From here, Rosen probably also learned about Greenwich's technical level, which is indeed in the late stage of the steam age, due to the lack of oil and other fuels, so the power technology is stagnant in a sense, and the Els are not good at using magic materials, and the scientific and technological progress at this time is indeed in a bottleneck.

Even the few master craftsmen who were popular were mostly engaged in the research and development of improvements such as replacing materials or improving structures, and there were few innovations in substance.

And after the publication of a master craftsman who should have improved the efficiency of the steam engine for irrigation, it was time for Taylor to publish it.

"Ahem, this time, I'm with Master Swift. ”

Hearing Taylor's words, there were many whispers in the audience, most of which, like Heidegger, were puzzled by the sudden cooperation between the two, but these whispers disappeared when Taylor said his subject.

"Our topic is the application of automatic machine tools and magic programs in industrial production. ”
