Chapter 7: The Battle for the Chief
The Slytherin common room was located in the innermost part of the basement hallway, and the entrance was in a wet, empty stone wall, and the leading prefect said to the wall, "Bloodline!" The door quickly slid open, and he looked back at the freshmen behind him, "Remember it, or you'll have to sleep in the aisle outside." β
The common room is a long, narrow, low basement with rough walls and ceiling made of rough stone, and greenish lamps hung from the ceiling chained. Under a beautiful fireplace, a fire crackled and burned.
Professor Snape strode in. His vacant gaze swept over the reserved freshmen, and he said slowly, "First of all, welcome to Slytherin, the best house at Hogwarts. You're going to have an unforgettable time here. He raised his wand to his chest, "Before you go to sleep, you're going to do a Slytherin tradition." We Slytherin start in Year 1 and we have a Head of Year in each grade. This is, of course, private. It's an honorable position, and everyone else must obey the head of the year unconditionally until you challenge and defeat him. Publicly defeat the head student of your grade and you can replace him. Do you get it?"
Most of the Slytherins come from pure-blood families, and many of their parents have told them about the Battle for the Chief before coming to Hogwarts, and have taught them a lot of basic magic. The half-bloods that can be sorted into Slytherin are definitely two-hit.
Snape waved his wand and read, "Ready for battle." All the utensils in the center of the lounge jumped to the wall, and out of nowhere, several stone snakes appeared, connected end to end on the ground to form a silver circle.
"Enter this circle, when you are subjected to deadly magic, it will knock you out of the circle, and the last person standing is the chief" After saying this, he turned and left.
It's really irresponsible, Phoenix complained to himself.
Snape's last few words frightened everyone, and the deadly magic would be ejected, so badly injured. None of the Slytherin students had returned to their dormitories, which was a great opportunity to see what the Sons of the Phoenix were capable of.
"Oolong out of the hole!" Phoenix took the lead in making a move, and a bucket-like thick giant snake flew out of the air, instantly entangled half of the people in the circle and strangled them, looking at the body of a snake that was like a stacked tire and shrinking, and the snake's head could still reach the ceiling, and the students outside the circle gasped in unison.
For a moment, the scene was extremely chaotic, and some of the entangled people began to roll their eyes, and some tried to recite a spell and escaped, and the unentangled people attacked the giant snake with all kinds of chaotic spells, but magic such as grinning and spinning somersaults had no effect on it.
Phoenix and Draco work together to kick everyone else out of the circle, and the completely frightened freshmen are beaten by their uncoordinated cooperation. "Bang" With a loud sound, the entangled people disappeared within the silver circle.
In the end, there are only Phoenix, Draco, Melinda, Nott, Bres, and an unexpected survivor, Daphne.
The serpent took an offensive stance, "Don't move~~~~," Phoenix said in a low, hoarse hissing voice. "You're a parseltongue, why didn't you tell us. Draco took a big step back in horror.
"Now is not the time to say this, Draco. β
"Honey, you go out first, you've done a good job. β
"Yes, that's fine. Melinda looked at Phoenix playfully, it was the first time she had seen Phoenix's level of magic. Looking at his relaxed appearance, I'm afraid he hasn't done his best. When Melinda was out of the circle, the other deck raised their wands as if they were facing a great enemy.
"Do you think you can win me? Phoenix's tone was full of amusement and lightheartedness.
"Broken apart!" Daphne shouted in a huff.
"Flames!" Nott reacted quickly, and the two spells flew side by side.
The serpent immediately stood in front of Phoenix, the spell unsurprisingly had no effect, Draco and Brace also fired the spell, it coiled up so that they couldn't see Phoenix at all, the serpent's tail swept against the edge of the silver ring, and the three of them were all knocked out of the way, only Daphne climbed down and dodged, because of the force, she wiped the blood with the hand with the wand, and looked at the gap that the serpent exposed.
"Spin somersault!"
"Get rid of your weapons!" Phoenix deftly dodged the incoming spell and backhanded a disarming spell. Daphne's wand flew out of his hand at the sound of the sound, and he caught it with agility, and the winner was decided!
"Long live Phoenix-sama!" shouted the first-year novices, and the other ages congratulated Phoenix for winning the lead. The serpent vanished and the common room was empty, and Daphne walked over with a resentful look to retrieve her wand, "Give me your hand." She raised her hand as if to punch him in the face, "Not this one." β
"You-" Daphne felt like he was humiliating her, and she had to swallow her breath.
"Heal as before!" Phoenix said, grasping his injured hand.
Daphne was stunned, grabbed her wand and fled. "Anyway, why does she keep fighting you?" Draco asked him, confused.
"Maybe he likes freedom. Draco was still confused.
"You can even speak Parseltongue. Brace's hands trembled a little with excitement.
"Well, don't get excited, the Parseltongue is just an extremely rare talent, don't think too much about it. This is pure deception, no matter how powerful a person is, he needs friends. One of the Slytherins' criteria for choosing a friend, and one of the most important, is to befriend powerful people. The weak can be friends, only like Crabbe and Goyle.
"Thanks, let's go back to sleep. "Our Seniors issued his first order.
Luckily, Phoenix and Draco live in a dorm. The Slytherin dormitory is undoubtedly the most luxurious, and I don't know if it's because the children of the twelve school directors are all Slytherins. A dormitory for two, with a separate bathroom, a wardrobe and bookshelves for each person, a rich silver-green blanket on the floor, and two opposing black wooden tables.
Phoenix tapped the suitcase with his wand, the clothes and books flew to where they were supposed to be, the quill, the large blank parchment, and the inkwell jumped to the table, and as soon as Eden's gilded perch was in place, Eden appeared with a ball of flame.
"Oh, Eden has the interesting news for me, Dumbledore's phoenix is about to die. β
"What?" Draco asked, holding a copy of The Spoiled Dragon.
"That is, the reincarnation of the headmaster's phoenix is coming to an end, it will throw itself into the flames, and then be reborn from the ashes. Probably not this year or next year. β
Phoenix has yet to see Phoenix Nirvana because of their long lifespan - even those who have been recognized by Phoenix have only seen it in some extreme cases. For example, the phoenix blocked a death curse for him.
"Then again, you don't mind if I use itβwell, you see, as your master, I haven't seen you Nirvana doesn't seem appropriate. Eden rushed over and pecked him in the head.
"Ouch-Draco-don't stand stupid, come and help me-" Draco pulled out his wand in confusion, though it was clear that normal magic could not damage the phoenix. And he didn't know how to spell a few spells, so Eden tossed and turned until midnight before letting him go.
