Chapter 2 The Family
Phoenix is 10 years old, and as a Grand Wizard of Lins, this is not the first time he has experienced this kind of thing. After repeated experiments, Lins magic was mostly unusable in this world. The magic system of this world has never been encountered. In a way, the power of the Void is blocked by the matter generated by the planet itself. He can only adapt and learn the existing magic system.
He looked at his appearance in this world in front of the mirror, fair skin, short black hair naturally slightly upturned, elastic facial features, slender body, and looked a little weak, but as mages, they don't need to be physically strong, but quick thinking and superior reflexes.
"It's not much to practice with house-elves. Balde smiled and walked over to Phoenix.
"Father, I just wanted to see what happens when the spell hits an object. βγ In front of him, a group of house-elves were petrified, unconscious, and moaning in pain on the ground. "There are many obstacles!"
His main purpose was to figure out why he had to use a wand to cast spells. No one in this world can cast spells without a wand, not even a great mage like Dumbledore or Voldemort. With the exception of some very special magic, such as the Animagus, it is written that some wizards with advanced mana can complete transformations without a wand.
In many of the worlds he's visited, the wand was merely an effect enhancer, enhancing the power of magic, but nothing more. In this world, wands are indispensable, and wizards without wands are almost indistinguishable from Muggles.
"Ollivander said he could pick it up tomorrow. But before that, I want to talk to you, my child. β
Walk with my father through the long corridor to one of the most secret rooms of Peverell Castle. Inside, it's simply furnished, with just two luxurious chairs and ottomats, and a blazing fireplace.
The two sat opposite each other, looking at each other without saying anything. Suddenly, Phoenix felt that the suddenly serious, deep man in front of him was a little unfamiliar.
"Phoenix Peverell, my son. Do you know what the name Peverell means?"
"The oldest and noblest of the Pentry, founded thousands of years ago by three powerful wizarding brothers, 1,000 years before the oldest Hogwarts school in Europe. Master of Gringotts, protector of Europe, do we protect or rule?" he replied dryly, as if reading from the book, and finally raised a long-standing question.
"Yes, you may know about this later, but not now. Do you know why I'm sending you to England?"
He shook his head and looked directly at his father.
Balde sighed helplessly: "This is not studying abroad, kid. It's a kind of refuge. β
He was stunned for a moment, obviously not expecting this kind of answer: "Why?"
"Our family has been around for thousands of years, and our family members are all over Europe. We own Gringotts and we have an unrivalled political position. You could have inherited all of this, but your grandfatherβ" Balder paused for a moment to think about it, and did not continue the question.
"But I'm old, and your mother and I are old, and it's only because of some potions that we can barely keep this look. β
"They won't let me live to adulthood, will they?" asked Phoenix calmly. He understood that Balder did not answer his question directly, but it was not difficult to guess that the collapse of the Great Family began from within.
"Yes," replied the father crisply, without hesitation, "the political situation in England is stable, and there is Dumbledore, as long as he is the headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, they will not dare to do anything to you." β
"How so, like this?" was Phoenix's unbelievable misfortune, he had come all the way to come and not stay long before something like this happened.
"These things are too heavy for you. One day, I will explain everything to you. Balde looked at him with a smile on his face, looking at his son, who looked a lot like his youth. "You have talent, what you lack is time to experience and grow, I originally thought that you could survive until that day. Promise me that no matter what happens, I will definitely finish my studies. β
Phoenix looked at his father's serious eyes and nodded.
For a moment, the room became extremely quiet, and both of them watched the flames in silence.
A flame broke the silence, and Balde nearly bounced off his chair.
"Can't this phoenix fly with its wings?" he shouted angrily when he saw the comer.
"Eden, how is our new home?" Phoenix ignored his father, stroking the pretty golden feathers of Eden, the phoenix's pet. Phoenixes are extremely rare, and only some of their abilities are described in books, or recorded according to bystanders' descriptions, and only a very small number of wizards with high mana in history can be recognized by phoenixes. Phoenix's situation is extremely special, even unique, and Eden volunteered to fly to him to become his pet when he was born. Generally, the phoenix and the wizard are in an equal relationship.
Phoenix could feel the joy that made him laugh, and Eden passed his feelings to his master, and then another flame regained the room's calm.
"Go and prepare, we will send you to England in the afternoon, and by the way, we will take you to meet the British magnates. β
"Yes, Father. With that, Phoenix left the dark room.
Back in his bedroom, Phoenix brought Eden's favorite gilded perch, dozens of dresses and robes, various types of silver crucibles, and various medicinal powders. It took a week for the house-elves to move their family's private library to England, where the books in the library could not even be called books, but were bundled together in large rolls of parchment and placed in a chaotic manner.
That afternoon, Phoenix was apparitioned to his ancestral home in the north of England with his parents, Watson, the butler, and the three house-elves who cared for him. Watson, the housekeeper, will remain here to take care of him as his temporary guardian.
"This castle is really magnificent!" Passing through the path where the two walked side by side, their parents walked hand in hand on the white path in the snow. But the two tried their best to keep their voices down, arguing over something. Phoenix had no desire to come forward and eavesdrop. Crossing the path, a white flat field suddenly opens up in front of you, and in the center stands a towering castle with spires, like a giant wrapped in the surrounding forest.
"Watson, look at the animals in the forest, oh, they seem to be unicorns. β
"Yes, young master, there are many magical creatures in the forest that have lived here for generations. Watson's serious, unsmiling face showed a rare look of pride, only when it comes to the history and glory of the family, his serious housekeeper will show a different look.
"Baby, are you cold, do you want to put on a dragonskin cloak?" Seve seemed to finally give up, and she gave Balde a final vicious glare, walked quickly to Phoenix, and took his hand and asked.
Before he could reply, a silver-white cloak appeared in Sif's hand. This is made from the skin of the rare dragon Russian Ice Dragon, which is a hybrid and will feel warm no matter how cold it is, and its powerful anti-magic properties can also be used as a defensive magic equipment.
"Come, son, now this is your castle. As long as you don't want to, we can't get in. In front of the castle gate, Balde knocked on the door three times with his wand and whispered an ancient magic text, relinquishing ownership of the castle.
The castle now recognizes Phoenix as the new owner of the castle by default.
