Chapter 33: The Santa Ball (3)
When everything was finished, Dumbledore stood up and told his classmates to stand up as well. Then, with a wave of his wand, he whizzed some of the tables to the wall, leaving an open space in between. He conjured up a high stage, which was attached to the base of the right wall, on which lay a set of drums, guitars, a lute, a cello, and an organ.
At this time, the eccentric sisters poured onto the stage together, and the audience erupted in thunderous applause. They all had very thick hair and wore black robes that had been deliberately torn to tatters. They picked up their instruments, the lanterns at the other tables went out, and the other warriors and their dance partners stood up.
The Quirky Sisters play a slow, sad tune. Phoenix led Hermione onto the brightly lit dance floor, one on her waist and the other in her hands.
"Just like last time. Phoenix winked at her, and they danced more naturally and in tune than the other warriors. Soon, many people also entered the dance arena, and the warriors were no longer the center of attention. Dumbledore was waltzing with Lady Maxime. Compared to her, he was a dwarf, and the top of his pointed hat had just touched her chin. However, for such a large woman, her dance steps are really elegant enough. Mad-Eye Moody awkwardly two-step with Professor Sinista, who nervously dodges his wooden legs.
"Oh—it's a good tune," said Hermione, as the weird sisters began to play a new tune again, much faster than before.
Ron glared angrily at Hermione and Phoenix, who were dancing nearby. Padma sat with her arms crossed and her legs on Jiro, one leg shaking to the beat of the music. Every now and then, she rolled her eyes at Ron with a disgruntled gaze, and Ron completely left her out in the cold. Parvati sat down on Harry's other side, crossed her arms and lifted her legs, and a few minutes later, a boy from Beauxbatons came over and asked her to dance.
"Don't you mind, Harry?" Parvati said.
"What?" said Harry, staring at a Ravenclaw girl and Cedric.
"Oh, nothing. Parvati said simply, and left with the boys from Beauxbatons. After the song ended, Phoenix suggested that they take a break, and he went to get a drink.
Phoenix walked over to the table next to the dance floor, where desserts and drinks were laid out for people to enjoy. The butterbeer, which is as tall as a hill, glows pale yellow when illuminated.
"Didn't I see you coming to the prom, aren't you alone?" Phoenix didn't answer his question, picking up the chocolate cake and staring at the dance floor as he ate.
"I'd rather be alone than dance with them, there are always too many fools in this world. ”
"Maybe. Sometimes we need to be with other people, and people need to be of the same kind. Brace looked at him thoughtfully, and continued to listen, "Look at Draco." ”
Draco and Pansy were dancing decently, and both of them seemed happy.
Pansy was the last person in the Parkinson's family, and married her to get a large fortune. I think Malfoy's habit is not going to let it go. Phoenix continued to talk to himself.
"I'm not a Death Eater, they're just a bunch of idiots, he couldn't fight Dumbledore a decade ago, and he's probably not going to be able to do it now. Besides, other countries don't want another Grindelwald, right?" he affirmed.
"Every once in a while, there will be such people who will come out, very talented, with high mana, and turn the wizarding world upside down. Unfortunately, Voldemort was not as good as Grindelwald, at least he was for the wizarding world as a whole, and at the time I heard that the whole world admired his revolution. Now that Voldemort is a pure-blood number one in the narrow sense, there are not many people following him at all. If he had succeeded Grindelwald's ideas, perhaps Europe would have had another great benefit. ”
"yes. Well, he's coming back soon. Bress said with an inquiring tone.
"That's true, but not many people know about it. He said, "Don't talk about these things at Christmas, find a girl to have fun." ”
Phoenix left the table to look for Hermione, two butterbeers following closely behind.
Hermione came over and sat down in Parvati's vacated chair, her cheeks flushing slightly from the dance.
"Hello. Harry said. Ron was silent.
"It's hot, isn't it?" said Hermione, fanning herself with her palms, "Phoenix went get a drink, this Latin dance might not be for me." ”
Ron gave her a sour look. "Phoenix?" he said, "did he ask you to call him 'Phil.'"
Hermione looked at him in surprise. "What's wrong with you?" she asked.
"If you don't know," Ron said harshly, "I don't want to tell you either. ”
Hermione looked at him in surprise, then at Harry, who shrugged.
"Ron, how are you—"
"He's a Slytherin!" Ron snapped, "He's Harry's rival! you-you're -" Ron was clearly searching for powerful words to describe Hermione's heinous sins,
"This is your pro-enemy behavior, this is the good thing you did!"
Hermione's mouth opened in surprise.
"Don't be stupid!" she said after a while, "Who's the enemy? Honestly—we're all from the same school, and he saved your sister's life, and that's what you call enemies." ”
Ron decided to ignore the words. "He probably invited you while you were in the library, right?"
"yes, that's right. Hermione said, "What does that have to do with you." ”
"It's not obvious? He's a student of Snape, isn't he? He must have learned a lot of dark arts from Snape - he just wanted to get close to Harry - steal his information - or get close to Harry and cast a poison spell on him or kill him-"
Hermione was furious and slapped Ron. Harry felt that Ron had gone a bit too far in what he had said later, and he had always felt that Phoenix was one of the few good people in Slytherin.
"Let me tell you something, he's never asked Harry a word, never. Harry was still playing wizarding chess with you idiot while he unlocked the secret of the golden egg!"
Ron seemed completely dumbfounded.
"What's the matter? You're going to be noisy at Christmas," Phoenix followed by two butterbeers, "and tradition?"
"Let's go, don't follow these fools. Hermione dragged a bewildered Phoenix across the dance floor, and the two butterbeers behind her hurriedly followed, only to spill most of them.
Ron looked at her back with an angry look on his face. Harry suddenly felt that this time he might be going to fall on the second project.
Hermione led Phoenix all the way out of the foyer, and as they descended the steps, the fairy light in the rose garden shimmered. It is surrounded by low bushes, richly decorated winding paths, and huge stone statues. The sound of splashing water is like a fountain, and people can be seen sitting on openwork benches. Hermione pulled Phoenix's bow tie along a winding path through the rose bushes, but within a few steps she heard an unpleasant, familiar voice.
- I don't understand why all this fuss, Igor. ”
"Severus, you can't pretend none of this is happening!" Karkaroff's voice sounded frightened and hoarse, as if he was afraid of being heard, "and it's become more and more obvious over the years. I'm so worried right now, I can't deny it-"
"Then run away," Snape's voice said impatiently, "run away—I'll excuse you." But I want to stay at Hogwarts—"
Snape and Karkaroff took a turn. With his wand in hand, Snape blasted the roses in both directions. He had a straight face and an ugly expression. Screams rang from the many flowers, and several black figures burst out of them.
"Ravenclaw deducts ten points, Fawcett. Snape said fiercely—a girl ran past him," Hufflepuff deducted ten, too, Stabins. Another boy chased after the girl.
"And what are you two doing?" he asked, glancing at Phoenix being pulled by Hermione down the trail ahead. When Karkarov saw them, he looked a little alarmed. Restlessly, he reached for his goatee and then wrapped it around his fingers.
"-- uh-- take a walk. Phoenix barely managed to get a few words out of his mouth.
Hermione said unceremoniously to Snape, "It's not illegal, is it?"
"Then let's go for a walk. Snape scrutinized it for a moment, then strode past them, long black robes fluttering behind him. Karkaroff also hurried away with Snape.
They didn't stop until they were in the more secluded bushes, and Hermione was furious. Tell Phoenix, Ron's words.
"You saved his sister's life, and he looked at you like that. Hermione calmed down at this point.
"Don't worry, I'm not going to be angry. Phoenix said calmly. "You're so charming, sooner or later someone like this will appear. ”
Hermione was still huffing, but didn't continue the conversation. Didn't resist Phoenix's hug either.
Hermione hugged Phoenix tightly, and there was a sound of footsteps behind her, and Fleur and Davis held hands and plunged deeper into the bushes.
"Let's go to the Room of Requirement, I've got a gift for you. I've been studying for a long time. ”
Phoenix dragged Hermione out of the bushes, and many boys and girls scurried in. Shortly after they left, two girls emerged from the shadows behind.
"See, his true face. He's serious, maybe they've already been laid. With a sneer, the silver-haired girl watched as the two disappeared into the hallway.
"That mudblood must have used magic, he's not that kind of person. The blonde girl said angrily.
"Anyway, we'd better wait until the game is over—"
"What, why—" The blonde girl looked at her friend incredulously.
