Chapter 53: A Fairy Tale for Adults

Although the box office of the original "This Killer Is Not Too Cold" was a bit cranky, the portrayal of the characters was still relatively successful, and this movie not only allowed Luc Besson to open the door to Hollywood, but also allowed Natalie Portman to successfully open the road of interpretation.

The reason why Wang Jie chose to shoot this movie, in addition to being high enough, also has some factors that compensate Sophie Marceau. At the beginning of this year, when French director Claude Pinoto was casting for "First Kiss", because Sophie Marceau and the other women in the family were practicing with Wang Jie on the farm, they passed by the film that made her popular. That's right, Wang Jie wants Sophie Marceau to play the heroine of the play, Mathilda.

The original storyline roughly follows a top professional killer named Leon, an Italian-American who has been living alone in Little Italy, New York, with only one potted plant as his best friend. "He's a lot friendlier than people," he described. He was as silent as I was, never asking questions, and never trying to kill me. He, like me, has no roots. "Although he has a special skill, he is very insecure inside. He never even dared to sleep in bed, but sat on a chair and kept his gun close to him.

One day, Matilda, a 12-year-old neighbor girl, came home from a trip and passed by the corridor when she saw the bloodbathed family, and she cleverly walked to her neighbor Leon and knocked on his door, asking for a temporary escape from the murder at his house. It turned out that Matilda's father, who was a drug dealer, was killed by the evil policeman Norman Stanfield for stealing a bag of drugs from the Drug Enforcement Bureau. Matilda escaped by going out to buy milk for her family, so she had to quietly ask Leon for help and take her in. After being taken in by Leon, he began to help Leon with his housekeeper and teach him to read, while Leon taught her the skills of a killer, and the two gradually developed a complex relationship like father and daughter and like lovers.

Matilda then follows Stanfield and is arrested in a hurry to get revenge. Leon arrives just in time to rescue her. They move again, but Matilda still falls into the hands of Stanfield. This time, Stanfield mobilized more than 200 police officers and heavy equipment such as rocket artillery to surround the apartment, determined to kill Lyon. However, Leon knocks down a large number of police officers, rescues Matilda again, and allows her and the potted plant to escape through the ventilation ducts, and tells her to go and get the money he has saved up. Because the pipes are so small, only the smaller Matilda can pass through. Leon disguised himself as a wounded policeman to infiltrate the encirclement, but was eventually spotted by Stanfield, who was lying in ambush behind him, and fell to the ground with a shot. At the last moment, the dying Leon detonates all the grenades on his body and dies with Stanfield.

After Leon's death, Matilda removed the potted plant, Leon's only friend, out of the narrow pot and planted it in the ground, so that Leon could finally "take root".

Wang Jie is going to make major changes to the plot, and the place where the plot story takes place has been changed to Paris, France, deleting the reverie-inducing Lori plots in the original version, and turning the film into a fairy tale created by a big boy and a little girl together, an adult fairy tale.

Wang Jie chose to let Zhou Yan send to play the killer Leon, which can be regarded as a gift to the father-to-be, the god of acting in the original time and space before entering Hollywood after middle age, and when he just accumulated a little fame, he was ruined by several street films one after another. Wang Jie gave some help to his personnel who were expected to enter Hollywood as much as possible, after all, Xiangjiang is just a city, too small.

The charismatic villain in the play, Stanfield, Wang Jie asked Michael Ovitz of CAA to contact Al Pacino, and in order to invite the future actor, Wang Jie also asked him to bring a script, a script adapted by Wang Jie based on his published "Smell the Fragrance of Women", in fact, when the book was republished, for fear of causing copyright disputes, Wang Jie asked the housekeeper Old Jim to buy out all the copyrights of the 1974 Dino Leahy movie "Woman's Fragrance" in advance.

In the end, Al Pacino agreed to play the villain Stanfield, on the condition that after the film was filmed, he would be able to play Lieutenant Colonel Frank in "Smell a Woman". Wang Jie agreed to the request and notified the relevant personnel of Twentieth Century Fox to begin preparations.

On March 10, 1980, "This Killer Is Not Too Cold" officially started filming in Paris, France, and the crew except for the action director were all relevant staff from the United States and France contacted by Fox, and the producer of this drama was Shirley Lansing. The film is produced and distributed by Fox Films. Wang Jie specially assigned Cheng Long to be the executive director of his own play, Wang Jie has rewritten the script of "Police Story", and is ready to let Cheng Long act as the director, before that, he will train him through the play "This Killer Is Not Too Cold".

In order to show the killer Leon's careful deployment, calm and fearless neat methods, Wang Jie specially explained that Yuan Kui, the action director, must experience the actual combat color when designing the action, and remove the fancy action design, which is also the foreshadowing that Wang Jie deliberately made to show Leon's true side later.

In the scene where many police cars are parked on the street, a man who has just robbed a store happens to run out of the store, and when he hits the film crew and many "cops", he obediently surrenders to the group of uniformed extras.

After nearly two months of filming and production, the film was finally completed a week before the Cannes International Film Festival, and the remaining Wang Jie after the crew was disbanded was all handed over to Shirley Lansing, including matters related to participating in the Cannes International Film Festival, he was still a little boy at this time, and he was reluctant to go to the stage.
