Chapter 31 The art is in hand

Wang Jie returned to Xiangjiang on June 27, and his industrial layout in Xiangjiang was just the last piece of layout - TV station, and now the opportunity has come.

If there is no deviation in history, Jiayi TV will close down in less than two months, as long as you wait patiently for Jiayi's "July offensive" to make a move, the price will not be much.

The reason why the original time and space Jiayi Radio Station went bankrupt and closed down was actually from the day it was first established.

At 6 p.m. on September 7, 1975, Hong Kong's third television station, Jiayi TV, was launched.

The launch ceremony was very simple, with only a brief speech by General Manager He Zuozhi, Program Manager Sun Yubiao, and News Department Manager Pan Chaoyan, and then the program for the whole night began. The highlight of the night was the song and dance show "Good Days". The show lasted for an hour, and the performers included Xu Guanjie, Zeng Jiang and Weng Qianyu, who became popular in RB. THE DANCERS FOR THE PERFORMANCE ARE ALL FROM RIBEN, AND THE CHOREOGRAPHER AND ASSOCIATE CHOREOGRAPHER IN CHARGE OF THE OPENING PERFORMANCE ARE ALSO SPECIALLY BROUGHT IN BY RB. It is said that He Zuozhi personally did the planning of the show, and went to RB 4 times for the sake of the show.

At the beginning, one of the licensing conditions of Jiayi TV required Jiashi to use part of the time to broadcast educational programs, which was one of the reasons why Jiayi failed to break even, and it was also one of the reasons for Jiashi's closure.

Although the original time and space Jiashi only has a short life span of three years, there are fifty or sixty TVs that have been released, which is definitely a lot of products in the seventies. Among them, there are many classic works, such as the first Jin Yong TV series Mi Xue's version of "The Legend of the Condor Heroes", which was from Jiashi, which caused a sensation in Hong Kong after being filmed, and then Jiashi successively filmed "The Legend of the Condor Heroes", "Blue Blood Sword", "Snow Mountain Flying Fox", etc., but due to the premature completion, it is still unknown to many Chinese mainland drama fans.

Jiashi can be said to be a fleeting meteor, very beautiful, very bright, but unfortunately short-lived.

At that time, there were high expectations for educational television, so when Jiashi was established, the government stipulated that Jiashi should be used for TV teaching from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and from 9 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. However, these shows are not popular with the audience, which is one of the main reasons for the collapse of Jiashi.

In 1976, Jiashi broadcast Taiwan's high-rated drama series "Hong Xiguan and Fang Shiyu", which attracted a lot of audiences, and Jiashi also took the route of martial arts dramas, first "The Legend of the Condor Heroes", and then "The Legend of the Condor Heroes". However, Jiashi failed to maintain the level of ratings, and the economic situation fell into a difficult situation, which was supported by the injection of capital by Lin Xiufeng, the son of Hang Seng Bank founder Lin Bingyan.

In 1978, Liang Shuyi joined Jiashi from TVB, causing a poaching boom, and the important staff of TVB who came with Liang Shuyi included Liu Tianci (assistant general manager and creative supervisor), Shi Shaoming (program director), Lu Guozhen (program promotion director), Ye Jiexin (production director), Lin Xuhua (data collection manager). Many famous artists and choreographers have jumped ship together, and most of the actors in the TV feature drama "Home Change" have also shifted positions. Liang Shuyi spared no effort to instigate the "July Offensive". But by this time, the Xiangjiang government had already begun to intervene in the investigation of Jiashi's financial problems.

Before the "July Offensive", Capitol artists staged a parade of floats in scorching heat, visiting 92 districts in Hong Kong to promote Galatv's programmes, and newspapers sold advertisements. The offensive was mediocre, and although it was a good show, it cost a lot of money. Zhou Liang Shuyi was forced to resign, and Shi Shaoming, Ye Jiexin, Liu Tianci, Lu Guozhan, and Lin Xuhua also resigned, known as the "Six Gentlemen" incident. (Another theory is that these six people jumped to Jiashi).

On August 21, 1978, Jiashi TV was liquidated and closed down.

Unlike the other two TV stations in Hong Kong, "TVB" and "ATV", Jiayi TV only has one Chinese channel. Its emblem is a circular hexagonal shape composed of six lines at a 120-degree angle, representing the "six arts" of Chinese Confucianism - ceremony, music, archery, royal, calligraphy, and mathematics (among which the "imperial book" was once ridiculed as "pre-loss number"), and also represents the six major shareholders of Jiayi TV, namely the family of Lam Pingyan (one of the founders of Hang Seng Bank), Jardine Matheson, Hong Kong Commercial Radio, and three Chinese newspapers in Hong Kong, "Sing Tao Daily", "Overseas Chinese Daily" and "Industrial and Commercial Daily" Among the six shareholders, commercial radio has the largest dominant stake among the six shareholders. Commercial Radio even founded the "Jiashi Football Team" for Jiashi to promote Jiashi, but later gave up due to the collapse of Jiashi; it is worth mentioning that Wu Huangrong, who worked for Commercial Television at that time, was the leader of the team.

Wang Jie will not wait until the moment of liquidation and bankruptcy to take over Jiayi TV, which will cause a large loss of talent. Jia Shi's Mi Xue, Wei Qiuhua, Luo Lelin, Li Tongming, Zheng Yuling, Yang Panpan, Hong Kong sister Zhang Marie, Qin Huang and others are all relatively rare talented actors; Liang Shuyi, Shi Shaoming, Ye Jiexin, Liu Tianci, Lu Guozhan, Lin Xuhua, etc. are rare talents, especially Liang Shuyi, regardless of talent and connections, Wang Jie is an employee who is in urgent need.

Wang Jie was not idle when he waited for the opportunity to intervene, he received all kinds of expensive items purchased from Huaxia, while continuing to shoot other plots of "Myth", and discussed the production of post-production special effects with the special effects engineer of Industrial Light and Magic, in addition, Wang Jie used CG technology for the first time when producing this "Myth", during which Wang Jie led part of the crew including Cheng Long and Monica Bellucci to Italy for four days of filming, and waited until July 1 Jiashi launched the "July Offensive" When all the filming has been completed, Wang Jie is ready to take the remaining post-production to the United States to complete.

On July 5, 1978, Wang Jie contacted the Governor of Hong Kong, MacLehose, and at the invitation of MacLehose, He Zuozhi, Lin Bingyan, Wu Huangrong, He Zhuguo, Hu Zhiwu and the representative of Jardine Matheson & Co. Niu Bijian, several shareholders of Jiayi met with Wang Jie, and on the premise that Wang Jie promised not to lay off employees, several parties reached an agreement on the equity transfer of Jiayi TV and signed a contract on the spot, and Wang Jie only spent 76 million Hong Kong dollars to acquire these shares. After the contract was signed, Jiayi also became Wang Jie's sole proprietorship of the first TV station, and Wang Jie's entertainment puzzle in Xiangjiang was basically perfect.
