Chapter Twenty-Eight: Ingenuity
"Oh, really? That's interesting. Pen, fun, pavilion www. biquge。 info" The shopkeeper sneered inwardly, then quickly replied, "The foal is yours, you have to take it." Your father's horse was stolen by a murderer. Given the implied agreement between us, I've done enough to protect it. My stable keeper has all had his teeth knocked out and is now only able to drink soup. ”
"Then we'll see you in court. "Maddie" threw out the killer feature flatly.
"You have no reason to sue me!" the shopkeeper immediately became anxious.
Attorney Jett in Arkansas may not think so, and the jury probably won't agree with you. The odds of a widow and three children will not be small. The words of "Maddie" made the shopkeeper open his mouth, but he couldn't speak.
Finally, he said with difficulty, "I'll send $200 to your father's account." But only if I receive your lawyer's papers, I will be relieved of all responsibilities up to this point. ”
"All I could accept was 200 dollars for Judy, 100 dollars for the foal, and $25 for the gray horse that Tom Cheney left behind. It is easy to sell for 40 yuan in the market, and that is a total of 325 yuan. "Maddie" didn't wait for the other party to finish speaking, and directly blocked the other party's conditions.
"The foals don't count! I won't buy them!" the shopkeeper shouted anxiously.
"Then Judy's price is 325 yuan. "Maddie" said without giving an inch.
"Even if it's Pegasus, I won't pay that much. Also, the gray horse isn't yours at all. The shopkeeper said with a furious smile.
"My father lent the Grey Horse to Tom Cheney, and Cheney just borrowed it. "Maddie" reacted quickly and smashed the opponent's excuses.
"I'll pay you 225 dollars, but I'm going to keep the gray horse. And I want the foal, too. The shopkeeper said shrewdly.
"I don't accept it. After I leave here, there will be no more chances of reconciliation, so we'll see you in court. "Maddie" stood up and said with a solemn face.
"All-Right, this is my last concession. The shopkeeper stopped her and said, "250 bucks, provided I get the disclaimer and your father's saddle." The gray horse can't help but be sold by you. ”
"The saddle is priceless, and I'm going to keep it. Attorney Jett will prove the ownership of the gray horse, and he will send you a letter to recover the illegally seized property. ”
"What!"
"Unlawful seizure of property. ”
"Whew, okay, well, listen carefully. The shopkeeper stretched out his hand helplessly, "I won't give in anymore." I'm going to get the foal back, and the gray horse was mine, and the compromise price is ...... , $300. You either accept it or you leave. To be honest, I don't care which one you choose. ”
"Maddie" stared into the other person's eyes for a moment, and then said, "Attorney Jett will not let me accept any compensation less than $325." ”
At this point, "Maddie" suddenly changed her voice, "But, I think 320 is enough." If the 20 is paid in advance. ”
Just when the shopkeeper thought the nightmare was over, "Maddie" didn't forget to make up for it one last time: "Okay, now let's talk about the saddle." ”
――――――――――――――――――――
"Cut!" Sid shouted from behind the camera.
Everyone looked back at him, Sid thought for a moment, and then nodded: "OK, this one passes." ”
Only then did everyone relax, and then they immediately followed up with the preparations for the next one.
Because Sid only prepared one month of filming time for "Earth Thunder", all the filming was not rehearsed, but went directly to actual combat.
But because Sid's shooting team was used to using such a fast-paced shooting speed, and Lance Arcord had already adjusted the required photography style with Sid when he was already in Los Angeles.
"Well, yes, it's this light with a little bit of ochre. Sid was pleased with Lance Arcord and the lighting, set and art design team discussing the adjustments for the next scene.
"We don't want the empty and lonely effect of a traditional Western, but a little bit of warmth, because it's a little girl's story, not an old man's. So even in the brutal Westworld, it is presented with a warm art style. Sid's words caused Lance Arcord and Jesse Okasa to nod their heads.
"Then our light. He asked.
"Of course, it's artificial lighting. Sid nodded, and they were now discussing the first appearance of the male number one "Big Rooster" Rust.
As a grumpy police officer, he testified once in court. The defense lawyer stood, and the male number one sat in a chair to be questioned. The whole scene is shrouded in a halo, but it is different from the psychedelic splendor in "Curfew" and "Little Sunshine Beauty".
The western genre of "Earth Thunder" determines that the film must have a dim charm. It's just that Sid kept the color to a minimum.
"The sunshades of the windows reveal the height of the window below, and the white hard light is used as a backdrop, and then the dusky yellow tones of ochre are added to the middle. Sid's guidance is very specific, and sometimes when he doesn't know how to adjust, he will directly say the effect he needs, and then test and adjust it in the field as needed.
"The color of the cigarette smoked by the character should also be white, not blue. After Sid finished talking to Lance Arcod about the final details, he quickly moved on to the next shoot.
Because the first third of the film is set in a small town, when the protagonists embark on their journey, the scenes of the film will completely shift to the wild. There will be more challenges then, and in order to allow time for adjustment in the main event in the field, Sid only prepared a week of filming time for the shooting in the town.
So every minute and every second counts.
The town's scenes are mainly about the meeting of three protagonists, Maddie played by Lindsay, Rust the bailiff played by Jeff Bridges, and LaBeouf, a Texas Ranger played by Jeremy Renner.
In addition to showing the character characteristics of the heroine, it also shows their respective personalities through the encounter of the three protagonists. Among them, Rust, an old bailiff who is very arrogant and likes to drink heavily, and LaBeouf, a young and vigorous mounted policeman, all show distinctive character characteristics.
When the crew finished filming in the town, the crew set off in the direction of Texas in the south, because on this road, there was a series of exterior locations needed for field shooting.
――――――――――――――――――――
"Are you ready?" Sid asked through the loudspeaker.
“OK。 Photographer Lance Arcord raised his hand and made an OK gesture.
"So, begin!" Sid ordered, and the female stuntman jumped into the river on her horse.
This is the scene where the heroine Maddie finds herself thrown down by two police officers, and in order to catch up with them, she jumps into the wide river on horseback, and swims across the river by relying on the horse's ability to carry water.
In order to shoot this difficult scene, the crew found a river on the border between New Mexico and Texas, although the water of this river is not like those big rivers, it is also 17 or 8 meters wide, and the river is not deep.
So such a shot, of course, it is impossible to really let Lindsay, the little Lori, go into battle, and a stand-in is indispensable.
While the stuntman jumps into the river on horseback, four cameras start filming from both sides of the river at the same time, from several different angles. Because this kind of lens is very troublesome, in order to pass it as quickly as possible, Sid and Lance Arcord's camera crew has conducted several drills to try to pass the least number of times.
This time, Sid also went into battle himself, holding a film camera for long-distance shooting. Because this scene has a bird's-eye view of the large panorama, a close-up of "Maddie" as she crosses the river, and of course, a medium shot of the two male protagonists looking back. Therefore, it is obviously impossible to shoot this scene at the same time, and it will take at least two or three times.
In order to save time as much as possible, we will shoot panoramic shots of both sides of the strait first.
At the beginning of the shoot, Jeff Bridges and Jeremy Renner, who play police officers, also look back across the river.
This act of riding directly across the river on a horse may seem simple, but it actually requires a lot of riding ability and experience. This stuntman is a professional cowgirl hired by the crew from a cowboy tourist destination in Texas.
The first half of the river crossing was very simple, when the cowgirl rode her horse into the center of the river, the river suddenly became rapid, and more importantly, now that the horse's hooves had left the riverbed, the weight of a man and a horse depended on the horse's swimming and man's riding skills.
Lance Arcord sat on a crane and filmed the cowgirl from across the river, watching the stuntman enter the middle of the river, his palms sweating.
But as the old cowboy who recommended the stuntman assures, her riding skills are really good.
Before she knew it, she was quickly wading through most of the river. Not only that, but she also covered most of her face with a hat very dedicatedly, so that even if Lance Arcord's camera is pushed to the middle shot, the actor's face becomes the center of the picture, and there is no flaw to be seen.
"Huh~~, it seems that there is no problem. Lance Arkard couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief, just then.
"Not good!"
Just as she was about to go ashore, the cowgirl slipped on her left foot and fell into the river to the left.
"Damn!" Lance (Arcord) looked up to the side, several first responders who had been ready for a long time were ready to help, and he was about to let them save people when Sid's voice came from their headphones, "Wait a minute!"
Lance Arcord and the others looked up again, and it turned out that the cowgirl had climbed back on the horse's back by the bump of the horse.
Before everyone could react, she had already ridden out of the river and reached the opposite side.
"Good!" Sid's voice came through the headphones, "this passes." ”
The cheers from across the river confirmed what Lance Arcod had heard.
