Chapter 80: Special Effects Shooting

In addition to the shooting of the miniature, the shooting of the special effects lens also officially began, that is, the part of the green screen shooting. While Hollywood science fiction films have been using this technology for a long time, it's clearly a rare novelty for the British film industry.

Looking at the studio with the real scene and the green screen, a group of young actors let out an exclamation of "wow". This is the scene where Harry Potter's first Quidditch match was filmed, and a blue room was surrounded by various Yawei wires. The scene, with a total of fourteen young actors, seemed very busy.

This can be regarded as one of the scenes with the most special effects shots in the whole film, and fortunately, Sid has been training the royal production team of the Fire Lion in this regard since "Warm Corpse" a few years ago, and now he is not in a hurry to make a big production with a lot of special effects shots like "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone".

Because there are a lot of flying shots in Quidditch, the castle and forest in the background are filmed in miniatures, while the stadium itself is shot in real action and computer animation. The upper part of the vertical piles filled with viewers was shot in real action, and green screens were scattered around it for post-production special effects.

After that, there is a shot of the young actors riding a broomstick.

Whether it is a number of computer-generated leather balls or the dazzling interspersed performances of young actors on the green screen, they are all steadily filmed in part and part by part under the joint efforts of MacGuff and Industrial Light and Magic under the Fire Lion.

While this kind of green-screen shot in a studio may seem complicated, it wasn't actually the largest special effects shoot.

When Sid and others were filming the scene of Diagon Alley on the butcher shop street in the center of York, a huge green screen was used to block the distant scene for post-stitching.

This is also the benefit and convenience of digital shooting, which makes the construction of lenses more flexible than ever. The team of editors and Sid are free to change or move the sets, characters and lighting, just like a photoshopped film, which is simply a new age of light and shadow magic.

It was this convenience that made Sid decide to use digital cameras and their supporting editing and post-production systems as much as possible in the future Fire Lion's fantasy blockbuster plan.

While Sid was filming the special effects shots, Team B, led by assistant director Justin Lin, was also shooting a lot of auxiliary shots at other locations in the UK. The so-called auxiliary shots refer to those scenes that are relatively unimportant other than the main shots of the main plot and characters.

It's also a regular rule for big-budget films, where the director shoots the main shot and the assistant director shoots the unimportant side shots, which on the one hand reduces the director's workload and allows him to focus on the really important parts. On the other hand, the simultaneous action of two groups can also improve efficiency, save shooting time, and help film companies save costs.

Generally speaking, only those big directors who must do everything will be responsible for all the filming work themselves. In other words, several top directors of perfectionists have such tendencies. Like Spielberg and James Cameron, and later Nolan.

And the reason why Sid acted according to the routine this time was on the one hand to save filming time, and on the other hand, it was also to exercise Justin Lin's directing talent, before the filming of "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" began, Sid pranked him to shoot the famous "This Man is from Earth" with two scenes and one sci-fi film.

This film is actually not difficult to shoot at all, and the real focus is on the actors' performances, but despite this, Sid still found that Justin Lin's grasp of the camera shooting is still a little jerky.

For example, "This Man is from Earth" is not a seemingly simple film, although there is only one main scene - the protagonist's living room. But according to the progress of the plot, the different positions of the actors and the small scenes in the big scenes created by the dialogues are the technical essence of this film.

This method of using small interactions between characters to cut large scenes to create small scenes that are constantly changing has been brilliantly performed in the classic film "Twelve Angry Men".

But Justin Lin obviously hasn't reached such an outstanding point yet, so Sid wants Justin Lin to exercise his basic abilities more diligently. In addition, letting Justin Lin actually participate in the A-level production is also Sid in order to let him develop a broader vision and mind.

What's more important is to develop his personal style!

This has been evident since Justin Lin "historically" took over the Fast and Furious series. Although his basic skills are good, in general, the films directed by Justin Lin are overly crafted and lacking in aura.

Whether it's "Fast and Furious" or the later new version of "Star Trek", it's always a bit of a convention, and although there are tense climaxes and tear-jerking touches, it's hard to find any unique flavor.

is also a science fiction film that is not a big investment, and the humorous nostalgia and quirkiness of "Guardians of the Galaxy" clearly demonstrate the unique style of the director and screenwriter, and it is easy to fight a bloody way in a number of superhero movies and science fiction films.

At the same time, on the other hand, another Chinese director, horror film master James Wynne - his personal style is obvious, whether it is his own horror film or the later "Fast and Furious 7", he has a very different personal style in it.

Therefore, Sid is now also letting Justin Lin hone his basic skills, while taking him with him to train him, wanting to slowly develop his personal style.

When Sid and they continued to promote "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" in the UK, "Youth Musical" was finally released overseas, and in the UK, which was the first to be released, the film was immediately well received, and the young people of Britain immediately fell in love with the film's singing and dancing, and interesting and novel youth song and dance films.

The effect of Fire Lion's operation in the British Isles for several years has also begun to appear, and "Youth Musical" has won more than 1,000 large-scale releases in the United Kingdom, and based on this, it directly topped the box office charts in the week of release.

After the UK, "Youth Musical" was finally released in France, Germany, Spain, Italy and other European markets, and the excellent reputation and enthusiastic craze made the film go all the way.

The creative team, led by director Jason Moore, also started its own global publicity journey from Europe, and Chris Pine and Jessica Alba were also everywhere they went, causing a warm welcome from young people.
