Chapter 54: The Chamber of Secrets in the Castle

Evan and Harry clung to Ron, and they were like a roller coaster speeding through underground pipes, rising, down, turning, and hurtling down a dark, slimy, endless chute as fast as they could.

Because the width of the pipe was too narrow, Evan had to cling to the basilisk tightly.

Even so, when he turned the corner, he was in pain all over his body and his eyes were full of stars.

He had never known that the Hogwarts plumbing was designed like this, it was like a complex labyrinth, and they didn't go all the way down to the Chamber of Secrets.

In an apparently old stretch of pipe, they went straight up, and Evan calculated the height to reach the Ravenclaw Tower, the highest point in the school.

At the highest point of the pipe, the basilisk led them to a strange oval room, which was full of pale blue curtains, and one side of the room was full of books, and from the thick dust accumulated on it, it was clear that no one had been here for a long time.

Ron, who was controlled by Tom Riddle, had a visibly surprised look on his face, he didn't know this place before, it was another secret room hidden in the middle of the school.

"Damn!" Tom Riddle said in a hissing voice.

He tried to stop the basilisk, but it was clear that it was frightened by the rooster's crow, and the basilisk did not listen to Tom Riddle's control at all, and it panicked and ran for its life as fast as it could.

The room with the blue curtain vanished instantly, and as they passed the central table, Evan reached for something, a circular object with a long chain on it.

He held the thing tightly in his hand, and before he could look down, the basilisk led them down sharply, and a minute later, with a loud pop, the basilisk smashed the pipe straight through and they rushed out of the weeping myrtle bathroom on the third floor.

It led them towards the faucet with the snake carved in the center, and Ron hissed rapidly from the inside of his mouth.

Suddenly, the faucet emitted a dazzling white light and began to spin rapidly.

The pool slowly faded from view, and before Evan could see a very thick pipe, the basilisk slipped in.

This pipe was much thicker than the ones just now, it seemed to be specially prepared for the basilisk, and Evan could see that there were many pipes that branched out in all directions, but none of them were as thick as this one.

The pipe twists and turns, winding around and winding, and the slope is very steep all the way down.

Evan knew they had slipped deep, deep into the school's underground, even deeper than those underground classrooms. As he got used to the speedy ride, they finally landed on wet ground.

The pipes became horizontal, and they emerged from the mouth of the pipes and fell heavily to the ground, and a violent collision caused Evan and Harry to let go of their hands at the same time, and the basilisk slid into the distance with Ron, and soon disappeared.

It was a dark stone tunnel, big enough for a person to stand in.

"Where is this?" Harry stood up, rubbing his ass.

"We were taken miles deep below the school. ”

Aven's voice echoed through the dark tunnel, "If I'm not mistaken, this is probably under the lake. ”

He narrowed his eyes and surveyed the black, slimy walls around him.

Then he remembered what he had just caught in the blue-curtained room at the very top of the castle.

"Fluorescent flicker!" his wand glowed faintly.

By the faint light, Aven saw the round object in his hand, which looked like a pocket watch, but there were no scales on it, only a strange pointer.

"What is this?" Harry leaned in.

"I don't know, I accidentally caught it in the room where the basilisk passed by, and it looks like a magic item. Evan hesitated to flick the pointer.

"Aven, I'd better wait until I go back and study this thing. Hurry up, we have to hurry, Ron was taken by him. Harry said eagerly.

"yes, that's right!" Evan stuffed the strange item into his pocket, they really had to hurry, Tom Riddle was sucking Ron's life force, and the longer it went on, the worse it would be for them.

Along the tunnel, the two men walked forward quickly, clattering on the wet ground with a loud sound.

It was so dark that they could only see a small area in front of them.

The two men glowed faintly from their wands, casting their shadows on the wet walls, looking like youkai.

"Harry, Tom Riddle uses Ron's wandbreaker, and like wandless magic, it requires extremely strong control, and for a short period of time, he can't cast powerful spells. As he walked, Evan quickly instructed, "I'll get the attention of the basilisk in a moment, and you go find the journal." ”

"Diary?!" Harry was stunned for a moment.

"It's that black-covered journal we found at Christmas, and that's Tom Riddle's source of strength. Evan whispered, "Remember, find a way to destroy it once you find it, Riddle doesn't know we know this, this is our only chance." ”

"I remember!" Harry nodded, grabbing Aven's shoulder, "Look, there's something there, isn't it?"

Evan stretched out his wand, and through the faint glow, he saw the outline of a coiled behemoth, lying motionless on the other side of the tunnel.

"It's the skin of a basilisk, and someone might want to collect it. ”

In front of the two men, a huge snakeskin, green and bright, lay coiled on the floor of the tunnel, empty and twenty feet long. Obviously, it was the basilisk that shed just now.

They walked forward again, carefully turning another corner, and at last found a sturdy wall in front of them, carved with two intertwined serpents, their eyes set with large, shining emeralds.

"Harry, speak to them, in a parseltongue. Evan whispered.

Harry approached step by step, and he felt his throat run dry.

He tried his best to make the two stone snakes real, but he didn't need to, their eyes looked exactly like they were alive.

"Turn on!" Harry said in a low, hoarse hiss.

The two snakes separated, and the stone wall cracked in the middle and slowly slid to both sides and disappeared.

Evan hurried inside, and in front of them was a long, dimly lit room. Many stone pillars carved with coiled snakes towered to support the ceiling that melted into the darkness of the heights, casting long, eerie black shadows on the entire room filled with green and mystery.

"It's the Slytherin Chamber of Secrets!" Evan whispered.

There was a deathly silence in the secret room, and two men held their wands and slowly advanced among the stone pillars of the giant serpent.

Every cautious step they took created a hollow, loud echo between the four walls of the ghostly buildings.

As they approached parallel to the last pair of stone pillars, a statue as tall as the room itself appeared, clinging to the dark wall behind it. Aven looked up and saw the huge face on it: an old, monkey-like face, a long beard that dragged almost all the way to the hem of a stone-carved wizard's robe, and two large gray feet standing on the smooth floor of the room.

Between those two feet, Ron was lying face down like a dead man.
