One 20-inch diameter silicon wafer can etch nearly 2,000 microchips at a time. Because the microchip has a very delicate and large number of microcircuits, it is impossible to do it manually. Foreign scientists have invented physical and chemical methods to etch chips. The physical method is to use a lithography machine, and the chemical method is the key to the real etching of the chip. Let me first briefly explain the whole process to you. First, prepare two polished silicon wafers and coat one of them with a backing adhesive, called a negative. It is extremely sensitive to ultraviolet light and deteriorates when irradiated by a laser, revealing the silicon wafer underneath when rinsed with water. After rinsing, it is dried and then the next stage is etching. Etching is the process of dissolving the exposed silicon wafer until the substrate glue is exposed, and then rinsing it with pure water to dry it. So far, the prototype of an independent chip has been formed. The following is an important link, the real etching circuit, the steps are similar to what I just introduced, after dozens or hundreds of repeated lithography - development - cleaning - drying - etching - cleaning - drying. Finally, the circuit was etched. The following is doping, to dope we need several impurities, such as: sulfur, phosphorus, arsenic and so on. The whole process also has to be repeated a dozen times before we actually make the various transistors we need.
At this time, each transistor is still independent and not connected, so it cannot be functional, and we need to perform a copper interconnect process on it. However, oxygen-free copper is not naturally compatible with silica, so we need to coat the surface of the transistor with an adhesive layer so that it can be attached to oxygen-free copper. Remember, it's the two ends of the transistor, and the rest of the place is to be covered with photoresist. Generally, the ion vapor deposition method is used to coat a layer of desalinated tungsten, titanium nitride, desalined tantalum, etc., which can be well stained with silica and copper, and are also conductive alloys. Since the evaporation is carried out in a nitrogen environment, the temperature is relatively low and there is little damage to the transistor. After this step, the copper interconnection process can be carried out. This process is also photolithography - development - cleaning - drying - etching - cleaning - drying and so on, to engrave ten layers of copper wire. Note that a layer of photoresist is applied to each layer of copper wire, so a unique dissolution process is required to dissolve all the photoresist to facilitate the heat dissipation of the chip. I think everyone should understand that the chemical solution for etching copper and the chemical solution for dissolving photoresist also need you to develop it.
These are chemicals that you have never heard of or seen, and the task is daunting, and I can only remind you that photoresist is an organic compound, and there will be an important substance in it, which is egg white liquid. I can't help anything else. But I can only give you half a year to research and develop, what materials and physical objects you need can be asked by the Ministry of Technology and Information to go abroad to find a way to get it back. But you also have to know that what they can get back is also the products of previous generations, which can only be used as a reference. You have to carry out further research and development on this basis, because our process technology is more advanced than foreign countries, and has reached the nanometer level, so the requirements for these chemical substances and ion vapor deposition technology are higher, otherwise the yield rate cannot be guaranteed.
