The "intercooling" technology of gas turbine is to improve the efficiency of gas turbine by cooling the air between the low-pressure compressor and the high-pressure compressor to reduce the temperature before the air participates in combustion.
When it comes to "recuperation" technology, this thing is to recover the energy of high-temperature gas discharged by gas turbines, and there is no essential connection between the two.
Gas turbine intercooling technology can improve thermal efficiency, but it is not as good as the "intercooling-recuperation" technology at the same time, but fortunately, intercooling technology is easy to implement, as long as an air cooling system is added between the high and low compressors.
Now United Power Energy Group can engage in the use of "intercooling-recuperation" technology on land, which is not afraid of volume limitations, but if you really want to use it on ships, in the narrow power compartment of warships, in fact, you can install a set of "intercooling" devices at most, if it is a larger recuperation system, you really don't have to think too much, it is completely impossible.
"If this power system wants to increase the intercooler, in terms of volume and weight, it mainly depends on the military's power choice. If we still follow the current 052 destroyer's diesel-fuel alternate route, we can fully integrate the intercoolant into the engine case, and if we take the full combustion propulsion similar to the Burke-class, it is a different solution. ”
The biggest problem that the intercooling system needs to solve is how to refrigerate, and then the exchange of cold and heat can be realized.
However, the problem with them is that the whole system is large and cumbersome to maintain, and the advantage is that it can be used for a long time without restrictions, and the whole process from the departure of the warship to the return voyage is stress-free, and it is suitable for all-fuel propulsion solutions, as was the case with the famous R-21 gas turbine decades later.
"Full combustion propulsion? That is definitely impossible, the 052 series, whether it is now or in the future, can only be the alternation of diesel fuel, this is the tone that the Navy has already set, and it is impossible to change. ”
