Foreword: Some things I want to say to you

Last October, the serialization of "The Whip of the God of Basketball" was abruptly ended, and work was the main reason. Pen × fun × Pavilion www. biquge。 infoBecause of the transfer of positions, there are too many things to learn in a new position, and there have been big changes in work and rest time and work rhythm, which need to be adjusted and adapted, and there is no way to continue writing novels for a while.

The secondary reason is that when I wrote 1 million words, I deeply felt that the NBA had lost the charm of discovering it through writing.

I've been watching the NBA for almost 20 years, and I watched the NBA Finals for the first time in 1998, when I was in elementary school, and I knew Jordan and Malone. I saw a large poster of Postman Malone at Xinhua Bookstore, and saw Michael Jordan's legendary journey in the NBA. At that time, the NBA was full of mystery to me, and the beauty of basketball that it showed was dazzling and fascinating.

In 2001, Wang Zhizhi landed in the NBA, and there were more and more live broadcasts of NBA games on TV, and in 2002, Yao Ming joined the Rockets as the champion.

Since then, I have not only started watching NBA live broadcasts, but also trying to learn about the NBA in various ways. I remember that one summer vacation in junior high school, I found a yellowed, worn-out compilation of NBA knowledge in the reading room of the city library, and I flipped through it all afternoon. From that book, I learned about Wilt Chamberlain's 100 points in a single game, about the Celtics' eight-game winning streak, about Larry Bird and Magic Johnson, and about the Los Angeles Lakers and Celtics.

Of course, I only know a small part, and the internet was very underdeveloped at that time, so I don't know if Chamberlain was white or black, I don't know if Bird and Russell were in the same era, I don't know how tall Magic Johnson really is. Even so, I can still brazenly brag to my classmates that Bird and Chamberlain won eight championships for the Celtics together, and then look at my classmates' surprised and exaggerated expressions.

In 2006, when I went to high school, I began to use the Internet, and began to get in touch with more and more NBA information. In short, the atmosphere there is boring, even the diving is boring and suffocating, and it was at that time that I discovered Tiger Pounce by downloading NBA videos, and it is also the home base of many basketball fans today.

At that time, hoopchina was indeed like a breath of fresh air, professional, there was no standing in line spraying each other, only rational discussion, enthusiastic sharing, and-for-tat argumentation. In addition to the famous Zhang Jiawei and Zhang Gongzi, there is also a less famous Lu Bu, whose combat effectiveness is worthy of his ID god. I don't remember some of the other IDs clearly, but they all used their hard work and sharp words to make great contributions to popularizing basketball knowledge and building a sharing platform for basketball lovers. I also became a beneficiary of this, and I learned more and more stories about the NBA and about basketball games through Plan B, through debate games, and through wonderful post-game and historical science posts.

Just as everyone will one day become what they once hated, as its influence grew, Tiger Pounce inevitably moved towards what it wanted to avoid when it was established, but that didn't stop it from becoming an important page in the chapter of Chinese basketball culture. This is not only the success of a website, but also a demonstration of basketball culture and sports culture that can take root in China and be deeply rooted in the hearts of the people.

As the site grew, so did my knowledge of basketball and my understanding of NBA history. For example, since 1950, the NBA has won all championships, Finals opponents, scores, FMVPs, and even the general process of the game. The top 50 superstars selected in 1996, the famous NBA coaches, and the role players of each strong team, their experiences, characteristics, and even some people's data are familiar to me. Knowing these things is not to show off to others, and I have never deliberately memorized them, but I have seen too much and touched too much, and I am deeply imprinted in my mind.

Because of this, I started to write "The Golden Age of Basketball" in 2013, and the name of the beginning was "Forrest Gump Basketball Biography", as you can see from the name, I didn't want to write a basketball biography very long, I just wanted to write a basketball story similar to Forrest Gump's biography. So the opening stage of the novel is too dramatic, and it is too far-fetched to meet celebrities. However, I am confident to say here that every character who appears in the first half of the novel has nothing to do with basketball, and their experiences in the same period of history are well documented, and the locations are very similar, including Wu Yanzu, Wang Zuxian, and Michael Jackson, who many people think are inexplicable. Therefore, even though it was just a time-traveling novel, I forcibly turned myself into a research party, so that in order to perfect the details and story, the novel became longer and longer, and the details were written more and more, and finally I wrote 1.8 million words, and the story is far from over.

When I started writing this novel, I already knew enough about the NBA, and by the time I finished writing it, I felt like I didn't know enough. Because the novel is not all about games, it is more about the life of a player and the development of a sports league, so I began to pay attention to the life of the players, the character of the coach, the anecdotes that circulate, and the ecology of the NBA throughout the 80s, and even the cultural environment and material conditions in the United States throughout the 80s. Here I can still confidently say that every historical event, every historical figure, even every movie, and every song that appears in the novel is almost no problem in terms of age and background.

I don't say this to boast about my novels, or to show off my seriousness, on the contrary, I don't think it's something to be proud of as a fiction writer. To ensure the authenticity and credibility of the background of the novel, it is more to bring out the personality and characteristics of the characters and serve the plot of the novel, rather than for the sake of truthfulness, a comic strip is depicted as a picture of the Qingming River. Of course, this is also closely related to the subject matter limitations of the novel, writing basketball novels, especially NBA basketball novels, in-depth understanding of the history of the NBA and star characters is a must, which is the basic skill of writing a good NBA novel, but it also limits the author's greater play. Maybe some people can do it with their imagination and smear it freely, and there will be readers who love these works that rely on the background of the NBA to release enthusiasm and satisfy fantasies, but it is really difficult for veteran NBA fans like me, as well as some veteran basketball fans, to do so.

So, when I started writing "The Whip of the God of Basketball", I bought nearly 8 reference books as a support for my writing, plus the ones I bought when I was writing about the Golden Age and the Silver Empire, counting the electronic version (paid) and pirated versions, there should be close to 20 books. There are not only NBA's, but also biographies of Chinese basketball players and books depicting the history of Chinese basketball. Half of the books about the NBA are in English, including Drexler's autobiography, the Celtics 100 celebrities, the 2008 Celtics championship narrative, Larry Bird's autobiography, and so on. For those who can't buy books, they will search the Internet for a large number of English materials, including papers, encyclopedias, videos, basketball organizations' official websites, and so on. It can be said that he has written three NBA novels, and he has not taken much money, but his ability to circumvent the wall has been greatly improved.

A lot of times I'm not just writing novels, I'm reading stories, the history of the NBA, the struggle between Auerbach and Stern, the emergence, growth, rise and fall of every NBA team, the cultural changes in every NBA city because of basketball, and the different life journeys of those NBA players. Admittedly, the NBA is a wonderful epic, from yellowed old photos to high-tech promotional films, from shorts and high socks to one-piece cooling jerseys, from 8 to 30, from 100 million to 100 million, from 1946 to 2017, this is a wonderful history that was elicited by eight pieces of cowhide sewn into a ball. He's a game, really, but it's much more than a game. Basketball has been given so much here in the NBA, life, struggle, success, failure, survival, destruction, hatred, tolerance, meanness, greatness, even war, politics, everything can be found in the long history album of the NBA, which has gone through even longer years than our Republic.

Slowly, I started to focus on the bigger aspects of the NBA, not just about the wins and losses of a team in a season, but about many teams, many years of business strategy, team culture, team heritage, and the evolution of the NBA style as a whole, and the history of the NBA is long enough to do any analysis. For example, many people began to pay attention to and love the Spurs in 2013, indeed, the history of this team has shattered many of the NBA's golden rules, many of the preconceived ideas about basketball in the past are changing, some ridiculous empirical assertions are beginning to be falsified, and my understanding of basketball and the NBA has begun to be more profound. In the process of writing God's Whip, I learned more about the rules of CBA trading, the development of tactics, the tactical systems that were invented in various universities, and tried to touch the essence of basketball tactics.

And so, one day, as I continued to write the NBA fantasies I had wove together, I felt like I was missing something in the NBA's vast pile of old papers, the one thing that drew me to basketball in the first place. Gradually, I rarely watched NBA games anymore, even if I watched one occasionally, I often only watched the fourth quarter, or only watched the important playoffs, the Finals, and more often simply watched the text live. Many new fans cheered on their idols and were blown away by the performances of the most popular basketball stars. I'm going to be blown away too, but I'm just shocked and I think in my head that people have played like this in the past, but you don't know it, or people have forgotten about it, after all, the NBA is a forgetful league.

What am I missing?

I remembered the basketball in the trunk of my car, and after I bought it, I thought I could drive to school and play a dozen balls once a week, but I couldn't remember how long it had been in the trunk alone.

I think I've lost the joy that basketball brings me, what attracted me to basketball in the first place.

If I'm not mistaken, I think it was during the summer vacation of the third or fourth grade, and I was lying in bed watching TV in the afternoon, and a certain TV station started showing a cartoon about basketball, and I wanted to finish watching an episode to do my homework. As a result, as soon as the TV station came out, it was on for an afternoon, episode after episode, so I watched it all afternoon. From then on, I fell in love with the cartoon and also with basketball, I started playing basketball and started enjoying the sport. I wonder how many people started playing basketball because of this cartoon and then fell in love with basketball because of the joy it brings?

"Slam Dunk", a masterpiece by Yuhiko Inoue, a Japanese sports anime. Although many years later, we will complain that the basketball level is too far from reality, and that a high school Zhu Fangyu can sweep the national competition, it is undeniable that this animation has brought us blood and emotion. Because, what gives us the most happiness is not the level of basketball, but the sport itself.

So, when I started thinking about a new book, I didn't want to write about the NBA anymore. I still follow this great sporting league, I care about the fate of every team and player, I cheer for them, I feel excited about their legendary career, but I can't experience pure joy in it. I think this is a similar mental journey for many basketball lovers, including those who have appeared in Tiger Pounce, they will still watch the game, they will still log in to Tiger Pounce, but they will no longer go to the wet after the game, will no longer go to the star discussion post to tear up and ask for light, and will not go to the team discussion forum to make a big fuss, after all, looking at a lot of familiar arguments and logic, everyone feels tired and feels that it is not worth refuting. As for those who are still happy to do it, it can only be said that this is a necessary way, no one is born calm, no one is born to be comprehensive, experienced, experienced, excited, angry, lost, dull, is the complete fan career.

However, I still have to write about basketball because I haven't finished writing the stories and things I want to say about basketball.

The last reason I ended up with my last book was because the income from writing wasn't enough to entice me to keep writing, and although I know that the main thing holding me back is my updates, but if I have a good extra income, I think maybe I'll try to write more about the story of God's Whip.

So when I told my book friends, my editors, that I was going to write about school basketball, they all thought that I was going to hit the streets. Actually, I also agree with them, how attractive is campus basketball in the era of short-term and fast fragmented reading, and in the era of more and more information contact? I myself am a reader who pursues short-term and fast reading, and there are countless books that have been passed by me at a glance, and now I think that retribution may be coming to me.

But I still wanted to give it a try, because I thought that the school basketball I wrote about might be a little different from other people's. There was once a saying in the football world, "Football is higher than life and death", and football lovers often talk about it. I'm not a football fan, but many times I can appreciate that football is more majestic and thrilling than basketball. I still remember the grand scene of the national football team entering the World Cup in 2002, when the whole country was boiling and the whole country was concerned, and on the night of the promotion in Wulihe, Shenyang, my parents who had never watched football became football fans and stood in front of the TV and danced. In the basketball world, there is a saying that says the opposite, "Life is bigger than basketball". A plain and warm sentence, like the comfort of teammates and opponents after a fierce game, like a water cup handed by parents and friends after a hearty game. I'm a basketball enthusiast, so I appreciate the meaning of this sentence even more, especially after work. In addition to busy work, how much I wish I could find four or five friends to play basketball in a small field, sweat and brag. Or just one person, one ball, one basket, enough for an afternoon without incident.

At this point, readers should understand that I am not only writing about basketball, but also about life.

Of course, some people want to say, this is even more on the street.

I was speechless for a while, maybe the truth is like this, but I will still write it, after all, it has been written more than 100,000 yuan, and it is a mule or a horse that always has to be pulled out to slip away. If it's really bad, I want to say, I won't insist on it, I won't say some stupid things and lies that "no matter how many people read it, it will be finished". Life is bigger than basketball, life is bigger than fiction, and meaningless persistence is a waste of life.

Since you have said some discouraged words, of course you have to say some words of encouragement. I must thank those book friends who have supported me, those friends who have been urging me and caring for me, and those basketball nerds who have accompanied me through the day after day for three years, your enthusiasm, your humor, your cuteness, your handsomeness, and your lust constitute the wonderful side of my life. You don't think about how important your support is to me, and your presence is often more precious than the manuscript fee. Really, if you don't rush it, I don't want to write a book at all. At the same time, I would also like to thank my editor Ash, although she told her that she was not optimistic when I wrote about school basketball, but she still gave me enough encouragement and support, thank you very much, Gray Editor, you know, I am probably the most handsome author you have ever coached, if you don't believe me, you can ask my readers.

Well, finally talking about the novel itself, this will be a half-overhead campus basketball novel, the reason why it is called half-overhead is because it continues the time background of the golden age of basketball in the time background, and changes the history of the development of Chinese youth basketball through the emergence of Gan Guoyang to shape a new campus basketball environment, other than that, everything is the same as reality. The pace of the novel will be slower, a little slower than the beginning of the Golden Age, but a little faster than the Whip of God. Judging from the current concept, I won't write about the NBA, mainly because of the timeline and historical changes, but it's hard to say, after all, sometimes I can go crazy. Please relax while reading this book and turn back the time to your high school, or imagine that you went to high school, and maybe find a little resonance. In recent years, there have been many works depicting high school youth, and I would like to say that the youth of many people in high school is not always composed of skipping class, fighting, smoking, falling in love, and abortion, but more about learning, friendship, family affection, ignorant goodwill, and ignorant enthusiasm. In short, I hope to bring you good works, thank you.
