Chapter 56: Lu Zhishen's obsession
The Water Margin of the Four Great Classics has always been one of the books that young people love to read. However, due to historical reasons, the book has been slightly revised, but in general, it is always narrated around the story of this hundred and eight generals.
And the character I want to talk about today is also a character that many people love, the Heavenly Lone Star Flower monk Lu Zhishen, ranked the thirteenth hero in Shuibo Liangshan.
His deeds such as, three punches to kill the town of Guanxi, Wutai Mountain cut his hair and became a monk, uprooted weeping willows, wild boar forest rescued Lin Chong, Erlong Mountain fell grass for Kou, and finally went to Shuibo Liangshan to conquer Fangla, and I use Lu Zhishen's obsession as the title to comment on the last description of him in the original book.
In the original work, it is written that he is brave in righteousness, loves and hates clearly, helps the needy, and is jealous of evil, which is also a character of Lu Zhishen throughout.
However, his obsession described me in the original text, and the original text described: And said that Lu Zhishen and Wu Song were waiting in the temple for a while, and saw the beautiful rivers and mountains outside the city, and the scenery was very, and his heart was happy.
It was the night moon and the white wind was clear, the water and the sky were blue, the two were in the monk's room, sleeping until midnight, and suddenly heard the thunder of the tide on the river.
Lu Zhishen is a man from Kansai, and he has never saved Zhejiang Chaoxin, but the war drums are sounding, and the thief is born, jumping up, touching the Zen staff, drinking, and snatching it out.
All the monks were taken aback, and they all came to ask, "Why is Master like this? Where is he going to drive out?" Lu Zhishen said: "The Sprinkle family can hear the sound of war drums, and they will go out to kill." All the monks laughed and said, "Master misheard! It's not the sound of war drums, it's the sound of the tide of the Qiantang River." Lu Zhishen was taken aback when he saw it, and asked, "Master, how do you call the tide letter?" The monks in the temple pushed open the window, pointed to the tide, asked Lu Zhishen to look at it, and said: "This tide letter comes twice day and night, and it is not against the time." Today is August 15th, and the tide is coming when the third watch comes. Because it is not trustworthy, it is called tide letter. Lu Zhishen saw it, and suddenly realized in his heart, clapped his hands and smiled: "My master, Elder Zhizhen, once instructed Fu and the Sprinkle family to say four verses, the Tao is 'captured in the summer', I killed in the ten thousand pine forests, and captured a Xiahou Cheng alive; Monks, my family asks you, how to call death?" The monks in the temple replied: "You are a monk, and you don't realize that death in Buddhism is death?" Lu Zhishen smiled and said: "Since death is called death, the Sprinkle family must be dead now." Annoyed with me to burn a bucket of soup and sprinkle the house for bathing. All the monks in the temple only said that he was playing, and seeing his character, they didn't dare to disobey him, so they had to call the Taoist to cook soup and take a bath with Lu Zhishen.
changed into a monk's robe given by the emperor, and called his subordinates to the military academy: "Go to report to Song Gongming's pioneer brother and come to see the Sprinkle family." He asked the monks in the temple to ask for pen and paper, wrote a hymn, went to the Dharma hall to catch a Zen chair, and sat in it.
Burn a good incense, put the paper on the meditation bed, fold two feet, put the left foot on the right foot, and naturally vacate the air.
When Song Gongming saw the newspaper and urgently attracted the leaders to come to see, Lu Zhishen was already sitting on the meditation chair and did not move.
Finally, he said: I don't cultivate good fruits in my life, I only love to kill people and set fires. Suddenly, the golden rope was opened, and the jade lock was torn off here.
Hey, the tide on the Qiantang River came to me, and today I know that I am me. Lu Zhishen's master, Elder Zhizhen, once instructed him to give him four sentences and four verses, captured every summer, killed in the Wansong Forest, and captured Xiahou Cheng alive;
Finally, I said that today is in response to the tide and round, see the letter and die, I want to meet the tide of the letter, and it should be round. When he learned that death was death, he was open-minded by nature and immediately asked the Taoist to cook soup and bathe and change clothes.
followed by meditation and passed away, which was not in line with Lu Zhishen's character. Although Lu Zhishen was ordered by Elder Zhizhen, with his personal attitude of not caring about the rules and precepts of Buddhism, how could he choose to die for no reason in the end.
And the original book's description of such an important character is so vague, first of all, it is not in line with Lu Zhishen's character.
I think even if his last sentence is round when he listens to the tide, he is silent when he sees the letter. I can understand it this way that this kind of death is a death from the mundane world, a rebirth in Nirvana in the home of a true Buddha.
And he finally wrote: He doesn't cultivate good fruits in his life, he only loves to kill people and set fires. Suddenly, the golden rope was opened, and the jade lock was torn off here.
Hey, the tide on the Qiantang River came to me, and today I know that I am me. In the past, although I became a monk, I was forced to do so for various reasons, so I did not follow the rules and precepts of Buddhism.
At the end, I wrote this to show that I have put aside all the things in the past, and today I will give up and become a Buddha on my own.
Of course, this is directly related to his previous obsession with rejecting the imperial court. Of course, this also includes Wu Song and others, but after all, Lu Zhishen has received Buddhism and received enlightenment from his master, and finally decided to stay and devote himself to practicing Buddhism.
That's why I say that the description of his death in the original book is vague. And the last few lines of the poem, I can completely think that it is a letter handed over to the eldest brother Song Jiang, and it is not like a suicide note if it is not sealed with them.
As for his final death, I think so, although Fang La was captured, but after all, Hangzhou was once a place where Fang La worked hard to manage, and the remnants of Fang La's forces were intertwined, and they were not completely eliminated for a while after the war, and it is very likely that some of them were hidden in the Liuhe Temple.
Judging from the fact that Deng Yuanjue, the national teacher who was very favored by Fang La, is a monk, the status of monks in Fang La is not low, and there should be many monks who follow Fang La loyally.
Lu Zhishen, as the person who captured Fang La alive, must have been regarded as a thorn in the eye and a thorn in the flesh by Fang Layu's party, and he was eager to kill him quickly, but because of the strong suppression of the officers and soldiers and Lu Zhishen's strong skills, he never dared to act blatantly and rashly.
But when they heard Lu Zhishen's words, they immediately realized that this was a good opportunity to get rid of Lu Zhishen, and maybe they took advantage of the situation to secretly infiltrate poison in Lu Zhishen's tea and wine, or the soup in the shower, and murdered Lu Zhishen invisibly without leaving a trace.
Hehe, of course, this is also what I said casually, there is no real evidence, but I still think that Lu Zhishen will not easily choose death in his heart.
