Chapter 10: Professor Snape
If Aven had to describe the trip in two words, it would be terrible.
Especially as they were about to arrive at Hogwarts, the car was clearly exhausted, and after a hoarse sliding, it landed on the beating willow next to the school's Forbidden Forest, making the already bad trip even worse.
The frantic twig jerked over, and seeing that he was at risk of being slapped into the meat sauce, Evan closed his eyes in fear, he could hear Ron and Harry screaming.
The car was badly deformed, and shards of glass scattered across the boys' cheeks.
Evan tried to pull out his wand, but was unable to do so, and the car shook violently, and he and Harry collided violently. Outside, a branch as thick as a battering ram was frantically pounding the roof of the car, which seemed to be denting down.
"Run!" Ron shouted, pushing the door with all his might, and then he was struck back by another branch.
"We're done!" the roof collapsed, just one last moment.
Just when the three of them were already desperate, the car engine suddenly restarted and escaped from under the beating willow with them.
Before Evan could breathe a sigh of relief, he was thrown out of the car, and next to him were Harry, Ron, and the luggage of three others. Then he saw the car drive into the darkness without looking back, and the taillights were still flashing angrily.
"Can you believe such bad luck, so many trees, we just ran into the one that will hit people!" Ron grimaced, leaning over to pick up Mouse-Spotted, his wand broken as it landed, connected only by a few pieces of wood.
He looked back at the ancient tree, which was still waving its branches menacingly.
"Let's go!" said Harry, tiredly, "We'd better go to the school, and Evan has to go through the sorting house, just in time." ”
Not at all as triumphant as initially imagined, the three boys were stiff on all fours, cold and painful. They grabbed the broken box and began to drag it up the grassy slope towards the two oak gates.
"Look, the banquet has begun!" Ron said, pointing to a bright window in the Great Hall in the distance, "Hey, we better hurry, I saw Professor McGonagall take the sorting hat out and it's about to be sorted!"
Harry and Evan followed Ron's finger and looked out the window together.
In the large and bright auditorium, countless candles rest in mid-air, and below it are four long tables full of people, on which golden plates and goblets glitter and reflect the stars on the ceiling.
Evan had read in A History of Hogwarts that the ceiling was enchanted to reflect the sky outside.
Beyond the dense mass of black peaked Hogwarts hats, Evan saw the new students walking into the Great Hall in a long line of fear. Ginny was among them, her face was pale, and she looked around from time to time as if looking for herself.
Meanwhile, Professor McGonagall, who wears glasses and has her hair tightly tied up in a bun, places the famous Hogwarts Sorting Hat on the stool in front of the freshmen.
Professor McGonagall began to pronounce names, and a very skinny gray-haired boy was called to the front and put on the Sorting Hat.
"Hurry up, it's five minutes from here through the hallway to the Great Hall, and hopefully you won't run into Peeves. ”
"Wait!" Harry suddenly whispered, "There's a vacant seat in the teacher's box, where is Snape?"
"Who knows, maybe he's sick!" Ron said hopefully.
"Maybe he's gone. Harry excitedly said, "Because he didn't become a Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher!"
"Maybe he's fired!" Ron cheered up, "You think, everybody hates him!"
"Perhaps, he was standing outside the gate, waiting to hear us explain to him why he didn't take the school train. Evan sighed heavily.
He saw a black-haired man with a thin body, gray skin, a hooked nose, and long oily hair draped over his shoulders, standing on the steps outside the castle gate, looking at them coldly.
The smile on Snape's face told Evan that the three of them were in a very bad situation.
"Ah, look at who I met, the famous Harry Potter, and his two best friends. With a slight, muffled hiss, Evan saw Professor Snape sweep his gaze over him with disgust, "You guys must not think the school train is fun enough and want to have a good time, don't you?"
"Sir, we don't, it's the wall of King's Cross station, it's"
"Quiet!" Snape said coldly, "follow me!"
They followed Snape up the steps and into the empty, echoing foyer lit with torches. The smell of food wafted from the Great Hall, but Snape led them away from the warmth and light, down the narrow stone staircase into the basement classroom.
"Sir, we have to go to the Great Hall, and Aven has to go through the Sorting House. Harry plucked up his courage and said.
"Quiet!" Snape interrupted Harry again, opening a door in the cold hallway and pointing inside, "Get in!"
As Snape watched, three boys shuddered into his office.
The walls were dimly lit, and along the shelves along the walls were large glass jars with disgusting liquids of various colors floating. The fireplace was empty, and the black hole was hollow.
Snape closed the door and turned to look at the three of them.
Like a poisonous snake watching its prey, he asked coldly after a long time, "What did you do to the car?"
"What?!" Ron was dumbfounded, he didn't know why Snape knew about cars, could he read other people's minds.
"Weasley, though I, with your empty brain, have no illusions. Snape unfolded a copy of the day's Japan of the Prophet, "But it's clear that you've been seen!"
He showed them the newspaper headline: The Ford Anglia could fly, and the Muggles were shocked.
A sneer appeared on Snape's face, and he read aloud: "Two Muggles in London are sure they saw an old car flying over the post office building, and at noon in Norfolk, Mr. Angus Fleet of Pibers reported to the police that there were six or seven Muggles in total while Mrs. Hettiebellis was drying her clothes. ”
"I remember your father worked for the Division for the Prohibition of the Misuse of Muggle Items, right?" he looked up at Ron and smiled even more sinisterly, "Oops, his own son"
Evan noticed that Harry and Ron were very depressed, as if they had just thought that if someone found out that Mr. Weasley had done magic on the car, it would be terrible.
"And!" continued Snape, "I have examined the garden and found that a very precious willow appears to have been greatly damaged. ”
"That tree has done us more damage!" Ron snapped.
"Quiet, Weasley!" Snape scolded, his gaze turning to Aven, "and you, Mr. Mason, I think you've found that being a follower of the Savior isn't a wise choice, and I think you'll be the first student ever to be expelled from Hogwarts on the first day of school." ”
"No, you can't fire Aven!" Harry shouted.
"Obviously, I have that right!" Snape's gaze turned to Harry and Ron, "As for you two, it's a shame that you're not students at my house, and I don't have the right to make the decision to expel you. I'm going to go and find the one who really has this pleasant privilege now, and you're waiting here. ”
Harry looked at Snape's back with a pale face, he wanted to comfort Aven, but he opened his mouth, but he didn't know what to say, if Snape brought Professor McGonagall in, he and Ron wouldn't be much better.
She may have been a little fairer than Snape, but she was just as harsh.
If Evan were to be expelled from Snape, he and Ron would definitely be punished the same as Professor McGonagall, he wasn't sure where he would go after leaving Hogwarts, the Dursleys would never welcome him, maybe he could follow Hagrid and become the school's hunting ground warden.
While Harry was thinking, Professor McGonagall followed Snape in.
Her lips were pursed, and as soon as she entered, she raised her wand, causing all three boys to flinch, but she only lit the empty fireplace, and a fire immediately ignited in it.
