Chapter 14: Conjecture of Change

"Oh, it's you, Professor McGonagall, and- Potter and Weasley?"

Dumbledore sat in a high-backed chair behind his desk, leaning in front of the candlelight to read the text. He was dressed in snow-white pajamas and a gold-encrusted coat on a purple background, but he looked energetic, and his piercing blue eyes were staring at Professor McGonagall.

"Professor Dumbledore, Potter just had a nightmare." Professor McGonagall said, "He said β€”β€”-"

"Not a nightmare." Harry said immediately.

Professor McGonagall looked back at Harry, frowning slightly.

"Alright, Potter, tell the headmaster yourself."

"I'm sleepingβ€”" said Harry, a little annoyed that the Headmaster didn't look at him, but at his crossed fingers, though in horror and eagerness, "well, it's like a dream, but it's not a dream, it's real. I saw it happen" he took a deep breath, "Ron's dad - Mr. Weasley - was bitten by a large snake. ”

After he finished speaking, the words seemed to echo in the air, a little absurd, even ridiculous. Dumbledore leaned back, staring at the ceiling. Ron looked at Harry and then at Dumbledore, pale and shocked.

"How did you see that?" Dumbledore asked softly, still not looking at Harry.

"I don't know," Harry said a little annoyed, "what does it matter?" ”

"You misunderstood," Dumbledore said in a calm tone, "I mean??" Do you remember where you were when you saw the attack? Are you standing next to the victim, or are you looking down on the scene from above? ”

"I'm the snake," said Harry, "and I've seen it all from the snake's point of view." ”

Dumbledore closed his eyes.

"Professor, believe me, what I say is true! Mr. Weasley needs help now, he could die! ”

Dumbledore opened his eyes, "I trust you, Potter. His blue eyes looked at Harry through the lenses. Harry felt as if Dumbledore wasn't looking at himself. It's looking at something else in yourself.

Dumbledore said to an old portrait very close to the ceiling, "Evra? "And you, Dressis!" ”

A yellow-faced wizard with short black bangs and an old witch with long silver hair hanging down from the spit next to him immediately opened their eyes, both of whom seemed to have slept soundly just now.

"Did you hear that?" Dumbledore asked.

The wizard nodded, and the witch said, "Of course." ”

"The man was red-haired and wore glasses." Dumbledore said, "Evra, you need to raise the alarm to make sure he's found by his own people. Dalyse, help me contact Jack. Silver. Let him come over right away. ”

The two wizards nodded and came out of the frame from the side.

"Evra and Talis are two of Hogwarts' most famous headmasters," Dumbledore said, "and they have a lot of portraits, so it's the most reliable thing to ask them to do." ”

"But Mr. Weasley could be anywhere!" Harry said. "And why do you have to inform Jack. Silver? ”

"Sit down for a moment, three," Dumbledore said, as if Harry hadn't spoken, "Evra and Talis won't be back until a few minutes, Professor McGonagall, could you pull two more chairs." ”

Professor McGonagall pulled her wand out of her pocket. With a wave of the three chairs, Harry sat down and looked back at Dumbledore. Dumbledore stroked the golden feather on Fawkes' head with a finger. The phoenix immediately woke up, raised its beautiful head and neck, and looked at him with bright black eyes.

"We need a little alarm." Dumbledore whispered to it.

With a flash of fire, the phoenix was gone.

Not more than a moment. There was a sound of footsteps outside the door, and someone was watching and knocking.

"Please come in." Dumbledore said.

"Headmaster, what's the matter with coming to me so late?" Jack. Silver didn't look like he had woken up. He was wearing baggy pajamas and was rubbing his eyes without any image.

"Sorry to disturb your rest, Jack." Dumbledore said.

"It's okay, I don't have any gas to get up, but when Dalys's senior called me, Michael, they were scared enough."

Silver conjured a chair and sat down, and made himself a cup of strong tea, "I've heard about it, Senior Lady Dalis woke me up and went to look for Mr. Weasley, anyway, this is a very bad thing, Headmaster, I'm afraid you'll have to make another plan." ”

"It's nature." Dumbledore said, "I want to ask you what you think about this. ”

With a wave of his wand, a thin cloud of smoke floated out of the wand, and after a few seconds, a few wisps of light smoke turned into a steady puff of smoke, thicker and thicker, hovering in the air, and the top of the smoke turned into a snake's head, and the snake's mouth was wide open.

Harry looked at them, completely confusedβ€”the heads of the Smoke Serpent had turned into eight, and the eight heads of the Snake were circling and writhing and biting at each other in the dim air, and Dumbledore watched the change in the smoke with a grim expression.

"I see, Jack."

There was a shout on the wall on the right, and the wizard named Evra had returned to the frame, a little out of breath.

"Dumbledore!"

"What's the news?" Dumbledore immediately asked.

"I kept shouting until someone came running," said the wizard, wiping his forehead with a curtain, "that I heard something moving downstairsβ€”they were skeptical, but went down anywayβ€”and you knew there was no portrait to look out there below." Anyway, they carried him up after a few minutes. He didn't look good, he was covered in blood. ”

"Good," Dumbledore said, Ron twitching, "I think Dalyse will see him go in, andβ€”"

After a while, the witch with the silver hair was also back in the frame, and she coughed and sat down in the leather chair and said, "Yes, they sent him to St. Mungo, Dumbledore." They walked under my portrait and he looked bad. ”

"Thank you." Dumbledore said, turning to look at Professor McGonagall.

"Minerva, I need you to wake up the rest of the Weasleys."

"Of course."

Professor McGonagall stood up and walked briskly to the door. Harry glanced at Ron, who looked scared now.

Dumbledore pointed at Harry and Ron, "Take them with us to St. Mungo, it's cruel for them, I'll be there tomorrow." ”

Harry and Ron followed Professor McGonagall out of the Headmaster's office in a daze, but Jack. Silver didn't stand up. They seem to have something else to say before.

β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”

"They're starting to influence each other, Headmaster."

"But the connection doesn't appear in other individuals."

"Because their connection is extraordinary, and the difference in strength is so great, it's normal for Potter to be affected."

"I know Tom wasn't a good kid when he was a student, but I didn't expect him to be so impatient, maybe I should think about something else." (To be continued......)
