"I don't understand why they didn't let us come to the meeting and let Silver join. Harry Potter said with a grim face, holding a feather duster that Mrs. Weasley had given him, aimlessly sweeping the cobwebs that didn't exist.
"Come on, Harry, don't put on the face of being robbed of 10,000 gold Galleons, if you don't want to say it, George and I are the most qualified, we are both adults, but we still can't attend the meeting. Fred laughed.
"But thankfully, Mom doesn't keep an eye on our actions, and there's always a pros and cons, Fred. George wielded something that resembled a rubber meteor hammer, "Look at this, Harry, the magic meteor hammer can hit objects within five meters and dye them in all sorts of colors, pick up Ron!"
"Damn it, I'm going to sue SΓΉ Mom, George!" Ron was hit by a meteor hammer and his whole body was stained purple.
"Ron, you look so handsome now, are you going to be a crying little Ronnie going to sue your mother again. George waved the rubber meteor hammer disdainfully, "Maybe you'd like to change the color again?"
As the holidays drew to a close, Harry himself was now missing Hogwarts more and more. He couldn't wait to see Hagrid, to play Quidditch, and even to walk through the vegetable patch to the greenhouse for the herb class. It was such a pleasure to leave this dirty, rancid old house, where half of the cupboards were still locked tightly, and the old, ugly house-elf Kreacher was always hiding and babbling and cursing, much to Harry's annoyance.
In fact, living in this anti-Voldemort Order of the Phoenix headquarters was not at all as interesting and exciting as Harry had originally thought. Although the members of the Order of the Winds came and went regularly, sometimes staying for dinner, sometimes only for a few minutes and whispering, Mrs. Weasley made sure that Harry and the others were not heard from anything. Silver would come sometimes. But he and Harry always treated each other like air. Harry didn't know what to do with his former friend.
On the last day of the holiday, Harry was cleaning the top of the closet for Hedwig's feces when Ron walked into the bedroom with two envelopes.
"Here comes the bibliography. He said, tossing an envelope to Harry, who was standing in his chair, "It's time to come, I thought they had forgotten, they had come a long time ago??"
Harry swept the last bit of feces into a garbage bag. Then he tossed the bag from the top of Ron's head into the wastebasket in the corner. The wastebasket swallows the garbage bag and burps loudly. Harry opened his letter, revealing two pieces of parchment: one to remind him of the start of school on September 1st, and the other to tell him what books he needed for the next school year.
"There are only two new books," he said, reading the list, "Standard Spells." The Fifth Level, by Miranda Goshawk, and The Theory of Magical Defence, by Wilbert Slinka. β
Fred and George apparitions appeared, appearing next to Harry.
"We're wondering who ordered Slinka's book. Fred said mildly.
"Because that means Dumbledore has found a new teacher for Defence Against the Dark Arts class. George said.
"It's time to find it. Fred said.
"What does that mean?" asked Harry as he jumped down and landed next to them.
"Harry, you should have used your brains more, Moody is gone. We've got to get a new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher. George said.
"Ron, what's wrong with you?" Fred asked. Ron didn't answer. Harry turned his head to see Ron standing motionless, mouth slightly open, staring blankly at the letter from Hogwarts to him. "What's going on?" Fred asked impatiently, walking behind Ron and looking over his shoulder at the parchment.
Fred's mouth opened wide in surprise.
"Prefect?" he said, glaring at the letter in disbelief. "Prefect?"
George rushed forward, snatched the envelope from Ron's other hand, and turned it upside down. Harry saw something fall into George's palm. "No way. George said in a low voice.
"There must be a mistake," Fred snatched the letter from Ron's hand and held it high in the light, as if to check the watermark on it, "people in their right minds." Who would choose Ron as prefect?" the twins' heads turned in unison, all four eyes staring at Harry at the same time.
"We thought it must be you!" Fred said. "After all, you're a celebrity with a lot of background, and you've been on the headlines of the Daily Prophet so many times!"
"I guess those bizarre words must have held him back. George said to Fred. "yes," Fred said slowly. "yes, you've caused too much trouble, buddy. Hey, at least one of the two of you was prioritized by them. β
He strode over to Harry and patted him on the back while glaring harshly at Ron. "Prefect???Little Ronnie became a prefect. "Oh, Mommy is going to be disgusting. George sighed, shoving the prefect's badge into Ron's hand, as if he was afraid it would defile himself.
Ron still didn't say a word, just took the badge and looked at it blankly for a moment, then handed it to Harry, seemingly silently begging Harry to confirm that the badge was genuine. Harry took it. The Gryffindor lion is inlaid with a large letter "p". On his first day at Hogwarts, he had seen one such badge on Percy's chest.
The door was pushed open with a thud, and it was Silver, one of the last people Harry wanted to see.
But he came.
"Ron, are you the new prefect of Gryffindor?"
"Well, I thought, maybe that's the case. Ron stammered in reply, as if he hadn't recovered from the surprise of being a prefect.
"Then we might have a chance to work together, I'm the new prefect of Ravenclaw. Silver nodded.
"Hey, Jack, can you ask Dumbledore, I still don't think my stupid brother is suitable to be a prefect, maybe his owl is the wrong person?" Fred patted Ron on the shoulder, "No matter how you look at it, I don't think Ron has the potential to be a prefect." β
"yes. George nodded frantically in agreement, "If they have to choose a prefect, they can't at least be as bad as Ron." β
"My grades weren't bad!" Ron retorted, but his older brothers ignored him.
"I can't interfere too much with Headmaster Dumbledore's decisions. Silver had a smile in his voice, "After all, I've already asked him to change the prefect candidate." β
When Harry heard this, he stared at Silver deadly.
"Dumbledore told me that Professor McGonagall was interested in making Hermione the prefect of Gryffindor, but I felt that Hermione had spent more time in the Ravenclaw common room than Gryffindor, so I helped her turn down the appointment. β
George said oddly, "And who is Gryffindor's new prefect?"
"I heard it was Miss Lavender, and her grades were about the same as Ron's. β
