Chapter 17: The Greatest Micro Film of All Time
"The Greatest Micro Film of All Time"
After writing the title, Qi Zhiwen took a deep breath, and then slowly wrote down the film review:
I saw that many people in the circle were promoting a micro-movie, including Kubo Video was also promoting, and under curiosity, with a scrutinizing attitude, I finished watching this movie - "The Tuner"!
This is a recent short film that is only ten minutes long. There are only a few characters in the pen, fun, and www.biquge.info movie, and the scenes are unremarkable, with no luxurious stars or ostentatious shots, but this is a short and concise micro-film that shocks me no less than the sensory stimulation brought by a 130-minute Hollywood blockbuster.
Director Han Qiu constructs a perfect story for us, and the film begins with the end of the film, and the surreal, nightmarish scenes can grab the audience's attention from the beginning. Each of the following shots is led by a flashback to the next shot until the female dancer appears.
The film culminates in this beautiful, gripping scene, but immediately falls to the bottom, and the final scene ends in a nightmarish scene at the beginning of the film.
I have to say that in just ten minutes, this movie gave me too much shock, it expresses a lot of moral that movies can't express in a hundred minutes, a topic that normal people will avoid talking about, that is, human nature.
The protagonist, the tuner, as a loser, does not pick himself up and go back to the piano competition, as most optimists imagine. On the contrary, he is slumped and has no hope in life, so I say that he is a complete failure. And since this loser didn't return to the game, what did he do?
He hides in a weak shell, he chooses to disguise himself as a blind man, he chooses to become a voyeur, as his boss says (the world is either voyeurism or exhibitionism). He hopes that being blind will bring him a new life. Because when he disguised himself as blind and caused others to be unwary of him, he was able to peek at people's naked faces in the sun with impunity, which on the one hand allowed him to play the role of the exposer of other people's humanity, and on the one hand to make people more sympathetic to his misfortunes, and thus to gain more benefits.
The absence of obstacles and no taboos fueled his audacity and allowed him to enjoy music once again. Don't you see the tuner's hands jumping fast as the girl dances, and what an ironic contrast to his nervous performance during the competition?
And this feeling of regaining the passion for music culminates in the dancer's last kiss, a wonderful moment that he had never imagined before, all thanks to his lies, all thanks to his blind identity.
But after the climax, the tuner's deviant behavior leads him to become a witness to a murder and, crucially, he is also spotted by a keen lady killer.
But what?
What did the tuner do after discovering the body?
He didn't do anything, he chose to continue to hide in his weak body, continue to play like a blind man, in order to get his life.
Presumably, everyone in the audience wondered why a young man did not resist, why a person who was obviously not blind and had normal vision did not choose to go out of the door, and why a young man who had beaten an old woman did not fight her!
Because he's a coward, he's a coward, he's a passively unassertive person. This can be seen from his nervous and mistakes in the game, and the decadence that follows can be seen in this.
Not only that, but he has been denying himself from beginning to end, he has been escaping from reality, running away from failure, and running away from inferiority. And this escape made him unable to escape in the end!
So the moment he made his decision after seeing the corpse, it was all too late, and his decision to continue to evade pushed him into the abyss!
As soon as the tuner made his decision, he was faced with an awkward situation, because the woman had taken off his clothes and pants, and you think, a voyeur, naked under the gaze of another person, how could it not be a kind of irony?
And until the end, when the woman stood behind him with a nail gun, the tuner was still immersed in the beautiful fantasy he had constructed, he fantasized that the woman did not recognize his identity, he fantasized that he pretended to be blind and continued to play the piano, and the woman would not kill him.
However, all this is just a kind of self-psychological comfort for him to escape from reality!
However, I have said so much, what exactly is director Han Qiu trying to tell us?
Again, humanity!
The first point is what the boss said, the world is either voyeurism or exhibitionism. I don't think I need much exhibitionism, now those live broadcast anchors who sell meat, those models, etc., I won't say much about the purpose of this, everyone understands! In addition to exhibitionism, there is also voyeurism, the tuner in the film is one, and the neighbor is also one, to hide in the dark and peep into other people's lives to satisfy their own dirty psychology, this is voyeurism.
The second point is what the tuner does. Including his nervousness when he played, his decadence after the game, and then satisfying his spiritual life by pretending to be blind. These embody a person's cowardice, low self-esteem, escapism, and even the risk of pretending to be weak to gain sympathy. And what the author wants to tell us may be that we don't think about the tuner like this, if he can face the reality correctly at that time, and can have the courage to fight with the woman, maybe the ending will be different.
And the last point is this society of hypocrisy and indifference, this society where there is no trust among strangers, this society that is full of deception! You think about it, when the tuner is normal, the order is not doubled, but once he disguises himself as blind, his order is doubled. It can be seen that the trust in this society is based on the disadvantaged groups than themselves, in addition to the part where the restaurant tuner pretends to be blind and pays. Hypocrisy, indifference, deception!
This is our society!
Well, having said that, there is still the question of whether the tuner is dead or not.
It seems to me that the tuner is dead because the woman has found out who he is, and the woman's nail gun at the back of his head can also be explained. Although there is no scene of the woman pulling the trigger at the end of the film, friends, please go back to the beginning, there is a sound there, perhaps, that sound is the sound of the woman pulling the trigger.
Of course, this is just my own opinion, the benevolent see the benevolent, the wise see the wise, I don't know what everyone thinks.
Finally, thank you Director Han Qiu for presenting us with such a short and concise feast. It's only about ten minutes, but it's full of aftertaste.
And one last time:
This is the most classic micro-movie I have ever seen, not one of them!
