The "Eighteen Scholars of the Qin Mansion" was painted by Yan Liben in the ninth year of Wude, and is the portrait of 18 literati and strategists such as Fang Xuanling and Du Ruhui under Li Shimin, the king of Qin.
And the famous Tang Dynasty Lingyan Pavilion 24 heroes portrait is also from the hands of this master, but it is a pity that thousands of years of smoke, following the Han Dynasty Qilin Pavilion, Yuntai painting heroes after another large-scale political portrait painting activities have ceased to exist.
But this "Eighteen Bachelors of the Qin Mansion", which made Liu Dong very excited, can still get a glimpse of Yan Liben's superb painting skills, as well as the heyday of the Tang Dynasty!
Second only to Yan Liben's "Eighteen Bachelors of Qinfu" is the "Bird Picture" of Huang Zhen, the ancestor of the five dynasties of Xishu flower and bird painting, who is good at painting flowers, bamboo, feathers, Buddhism, figures and landscapes, with comprehensive skills, and the "wealth" of the painting is distributed to the masters of flower and bird painting in later generations. The picture scroll of "Sketching Rare Birds" that has been handed down is one of the second batch of 17 paintings and calligraphy banned from being exhibited abroad! It can be seen that his works are precious.
Second only to Huang Quan's "Picture of Birds" is Guan Tong, who is also a painter of the Later Liang Dynasty of the Five Dynasties, and his landscapes can quite express the characteristics and majestic momentum of the mountains and rivers in the Shaanxi area. Mi Fu of the Northern Song Dynasty said that he "Gongguan River potential, peaks and mountains are less delicate". Guan Tong can surpass Jing Hao's pattern in the conceptual creation of landscape painting, and reveal his own unique style, which is called Guanjia landscape. His painting style is simple, the image is bright and prominent, concise and moving, and he is known as "the simpler the pen and the stronger the spirit, the less the scene and the longer the meaning".
Guan Tong likes to make the life scenery of autumn mountains, cold forests, village dwellings, wild crossings, secluded people, and fishing villages and mountain posts, which can make the viewer feel as if they are in the scene, "leisurely as in the wind and snow of Baqiao, when the Three Gorges smell the ape", which has a strong artistic appeal. Commentators say that his achievements in his later years are more capable of being blue than Jing Hao, and he is a powerful successor of Jing Hao's painting school, and is called Jingguan together with Jing Hao. The Northern Song Dynasty listed him, along with Li Cheng and Fan Kuan, as the "Three Dingzhi", which had a great influence.
